- Plays it too safe where is the risk..be a little more unique

He plays it way too safe it's actually very boring compared to the original music of the 60's and 70's, George Harrison, the Traveling Wilburys, The Temptations, Beatles and even his own work with the black keys. Dan directly rips off his influence in a not very exciting or fresh fashion, not bringing very much to the table although it is kind of pleasant to the ear and its' quite listenable, it's not something to play on repeat since there is nothing truly mind blowing about this album..Be unique if possible!! Bring some solos melodies choruses that reflect your own style next time man I know you've got some talent, learn to think for yourself Dan. Love you and this album is kind of good if you've never heard anything from George Harrison and the Wilburys, Temptations and Beatles, but not great by the standards of all time by any means. At least to me.

- Fun sounds

Great album that highlights Dan's unique sounds that are separate and distinct from the Black Keys.

- more quasi-plagiarism from this hack

not as much an artist as a careerist and "music factory," this guy has never had an original idea in his life. besides the dozens of african-american blues artists he's plagiarized and appropriated both in sound and style, he's ripped off everyone from tom petty to (yuck) gary glitter. on this latest outing he turns his copy-catting to saccharine-sweet latter-day george harrison and 80s ho-hummers the travelling wilburys. strictly music to sell products and line pockets with.

- Typically Great

Cherrybomb is a scorcher. Great driving music.

- Uplifting oldie-vibe

I'm a long-time Black Keys fan who was not totally impressed by Dan's solo attempts previously. This album changes all of that for me. Love love love this album. I enjoy the upbeat positive nature of 'Shine on Me' and "Livin' in Sin". However, the album has a plenty of songs that pull far back on that pop-upbeat feel "Malibu-Man", "King of a One Horse Town", "Never in my Wildest Dreams" and what might be the best song on the album "Undertow." I've been waiting for an album like this for quite some time. Thanks Dan.

- Phenomenal

Just a great album from start to finish. Whether its an ode to someone special like in Never In My Wildest Dreams or a funky Beck like grrove such as Cherrybomb this is a masterpiece.

- So it sounds like George Harrison???

My first thought was: Boy, that sounds just like George Harrison! Why would anyone give THIS a 1-star rating? So what if Dan Auerbach gained his influence from one of the greats? Does George have to disappear into the past and be forgottten? Why can't he be covered? Why can't he influence future artists in 2017? No complaints here.

- Different But So Good!

no it's not black keys or his first solo album (which probably could of been another keys album tbh) but I still love it! Great rock album for summer

- Amazing

Working my way from Black Keys to The Arcs and now this. I love it. Yours Dreamily has to be one of my favourite albums ever, and honestly this is most likely going to be my summer album. I much appreciate Dan doing his own thing. Black Keys has been done get over it. Yea Black Keys is really good, but so is The Arcs and this! Watched a sunset yesterday while listening to King of a One Horse town and it was a dreamy experience. If you want Black Keys stream the album for Undertow.

- Like it

Easy listening, love never in my wildest dreams and undertow.

- Stop not moving people

Look, it's good; but Dan Auerbach is way better than this. Nothing is getting accomplished with this album.

- Rinse and Repeat

When you don't know what to write, repeat, repeat, repeat. That Shine song. What was the name of that again, again, again, again and...again? He even screwed up the Pretenders tunes. Pass.

- Don't pay attention to the negative reviews.

They were made before the album was even released and they were criticizing the first single. The album, thus far, has been pretty doggone good and I expect to listen to this for a long time.

- Finally someone with a fresh new sound!

I positively love “Shine On Me!” With a smooth, driving bass line, bubblegum-esque female baking vocals, and the feel of George Harrison’s “Crackerjack Palace” at a jogging pace, it leaves the rest of the current pop groups in the dust. Bravo!

- No Good

I'm a huge fan of The Black Keys. I'm a huge fan of The Arcs. This album proves that Dan Auerbach needs other people's influences to write a good song. This is lazy and boring. Every song song ends with him repeating the song title about a hundred times and there is not one catchy song. In fact, listen to Shine on Me and at the end, count how many times he says it. I'll save you time - 18 times he says it. That pure laziness. Time to go back to the blues roots and put out a good album. Pass on this one.

- B-O-R-I-N-G

Dull & unexcited

- Pure Talent

I have seen Dan in concert twice, once while he was in the Black Keys and once while he was in the Arcs. He is astoundingly talented. This album is a fresh new sound for him and it is absolutely beautiful. Can't wait to see him again in November!

- Great follow-up to "Keep it Hid"

I'm a true fan of Dan, been following for a long time. Perfect addition to my collection. If you are a true fan of his, you will enjoy this album.

- Dan's Best Yet!

Just when I thought I couldn't get any better than the Brothers album with the Black Keys, Dan drops this gem of an album. A true culmination of all of his past work and the perfect way to kick off the summer!

- Different, unique vibe

I love his new album. It has a 60's-70's vibe throughout. It's mostly acoustic, but not slow or boring by any means. Each song kind of flows together and the whole album has a certain tone. The sound makes me wanna go listen to it on the beach. Big fan of this new direction!

- Like a bird on a wire

he has tried in his way to be free. Took me about 5 seconds to realize it was Leonard Cohen.

- Nope.

Self-indulgent. But there's a market for everything.

- Malibu man

Great album

- LOVE

I really LOVE this album!

- New style but still great

It's not exactly what you want from the Black Keys, but it's what you never knew you needed.

- Different, but wonderful

If this album were to sound like the Black Keys, then there would be no point in making a solo album. Dan would've just wrote another Black Keys album. Artists like to try different things. Just look at Blur and Gorillaz. Both are led by Damon Albarn, but the music isn't similar at all. Give this new stuff a chance. I really enjoy the songs we've gotten, and I'm excited for Dan's new album

- One of 2017's best

I love this album. It's great from start to finish. Dan Auerbach is at his best in Waiting On A Song. Highly recommend it.

- Totally Fine

I really like it

- Thanks For The Idiotic 1-Star Reviews!

You convinced me to buy this. So glad I did.

- Wow

Incredible album! Anyone saying otherwise is kidding themselves.

- Grrrrrreat!

Nice songs and guitar sounds sweet. Great album art work by Perry!!!!!!!

- A New Sheriff In Town

I'm not saying Jeff Lynne can be put out to pasture... but this is pretty good testimony!

- Boring

I expected way more from Dan, as his work under the Black Keys project is way better. Everything here is listenable but there's so much to be desired.

- Rip city

Ok, good tune. BUT he did some crazy borrowing. Juice Newton "Queen of Hearts" - she should sue. I also hear ELO "Hold On Tight", and Pete Townsend "Let My Love Open the Door"

- Happy Clouds

It sounds like the Disney Channel or Nickelodeon have some new songs to pick from for their programming. It was just really hard to connect to any of these songs. I don't hear the passion. I hear safe happy giggly tunes.

- Maybe next time, Danny Boy.

Huge disapointment. Dan's not the man on this mess. I'm well informed on the concept of this album. There's just nothing. No feel. Nothing.

- Solid Effort

I didn’t originally like Shine On Me, but it grew on me. The rest of the album is solid, quality music. The album has a great sound and come across even better on vinyl.

- Great Album

Melodic, clever lyrics, basic rock 'n' roll. Terrific.

- PF

Jack Johnson

- Post Cloud Nine George Harrison/Juice Newton Vibe

I was immediately drawn to the song 'Shine on Me' and also heard some George Harrison similarities. It almost sounds like a Traveling Wilbury's tune meshed with 'Got My Mind Set on You,' meshed with 'Any Road,' meshed with Juice Newton's hit 'Queen of Hearts.' It feels like a Jeff Lynnesque production ala 'You Got It' by Roy Orbison. At this point the song is a little cookie cutter, but still an enjoyable listen.

- Brilliant musicianship

Two great songs and they have the Jeff Lynne/ELO vibe. Love it Dan and thanks for the beautiful music!!!

- Every song Dan makes is the same.

Every song he works on sounds exactly the same

- Great stuff!

Beautiful album.

- George Harrison

Shine on Me=Got My Mind Set on You

- Great Album

Always wanting more of that classic Black Keys sound. This has a much different feel but the album is amazing from top to bottom.

- Very Sad

I'm a big fan of Dan's first record, i think it's an all time classic. I love all the Black Keys records. I pre ordered the record and am regretting the decision. I think it's terrible. I love Dan and wish him the best but this is painful to listen to.

- Great

The info of this album says "waiting on a tune" but the song is called "waiting on a song"

- A rare gem!

What a unique sound in 2017, once in a few years there is an album that really stands out from the rest and this is one of those albums. I don't care about the Black Keys I care about Dan Auerbach and the image he went for. Neil Young views all his prior albums as something not worth repeating, give it a try once or twice I gaurentee it will stick with you.

- Great new music

Doesn't sound like the black keys but definitely a good listen. Like the different style reminiscent of George Harrison

- Love earlier work, this is great if you want to take a nap or crash your car

If you love boring, emotionless, 70s folk pop then this is for you. Dan has been on this trend with the last black keys album, Ray Lamontagne album he produced and now this. Has taken all skill and watered it down with psychedelia. The description of "breezy" should be synonymous with crapy, boring, irritating . Wasting his talent on this = me not wanting to waste my time listening to. Disappointed for the 3rd time can we leave this trend in the 70s Im not digging the nostalgia.
