i love this album her voice takes me to a far away happy place just plain beauty
I have the entire album, and I love it, but I need to compliment the unbelievably wonderful arrangement of "Dancing in the Dark". In my opinion, it is the finest and most original modern arrangement of a classic jazz song available today. Really can't say enough in praise of the artist's interpretation, the arrangement and the instrumentation. They truly are affecting at a gut level that is hard to describe - they paint an entire picture in a song,a dark picture, but a beautiful one.
This album is so fresh and pure! I love the way she interprets "In the Still of the Night", of course, "I Won't Dance", "Embraceable You" and the lovely rendition of "Over the Rainbow" - I believe Judy Garland would be proud
This song is awesome (Waters of March) - Jane's voice is like butter! I heard while on hold on a phone call with Sears Customer Service - it was the 'on hold' song. I had to research it. I'm pursuing more of her music.
She has great emotion in her voice and puts it over with class .
It's definitely a favorite of mine! So much so I actually wore the CD out. My little girls love most every song on it. I used to play it for em when they were in cradles. When they got old enough, they'd sneak it off the shelf and play it. Her voice is so wonderfully addicting and lovely to boot!
Wonderful album and if you ever decide to stop singing or never record another song ... just know you once sang a remarkable version of "Dancing In The Dark". It is as near to perfection as possible and I cannot explain the unbridled joy I get from listening to it. Bravo!
Beautiful, soulful voice.
Band also is innovative and supports and reflects her outstanding style. Anyone know exactly who they are? Ron Carter was on the prior album....
Jane has such a beautiful voice - very addicting to listen to :)
This album was a random Christmas gift from my mother. Holy Lord, the woman hit the jackpot. Jane Monheit's exquisite vocal control, her lusciously sultry tone, and her playful style are the perfect combination! "In The Still of the Night" blew me away. My mouth fell open, truly. I love this woman. One of my favorite singers anywhere.
Just listen to "Bill" and understand why she's incomparable. That voice: pure and awe-inspiring. Forget that husky Diana what's-her-face (albeit, a great piano player). Jane can go from emotional power ballad to sassy swinging jazz. That's talent.
her voice is untouchable and utterly gorgeous. I will definately be buying her other albums. Definately worth the buy. and a good range of slow , to, fun and jazzy songs. extra fun. love to jane

"Taking a Chance on Love" is a popular song from the 1940 Broadway musical Cabin in the Sky. It was introduced by Ethel Waters playing the role of Petunia Jackson both on Broadway and later in the 1943 MGM musical Cabin in the Sky. The song was written by Vernon Duke with lyrics by John La Touche and Ted Fetter (see 1940 in music). It has become a standard. Several songs from the Broadway musical were released as a 3-record shellac set under the title "The Music of Cabin in the Sky featuring Ethel Waters" in 1940.
