Jubileedoo - One of the best albums of the 80sTracy Chapman managed to strike a lot of chords with this seminal album. Songs full of emotion and reflection, anger, angst, desire, longing. "Talkin' Bout A Revolution" reminded me so much of Patti Smith's "Frederick" from the 1970s, how it starts off softly, then builds to a wonderful, driving beat. Kind of like making love. Still one of the best albums of the 1980s from a woman who, at the time, was unique. Kind of like Joan Armatrading in this respect, she makes her own music and no one else sounds like her.

I remember it stirring something inside of me and my having to stop and listen to this beautiful somewhat haunting voice. Some 24 yrs later I still have the same reaction anytime I put this CD on or hear one of these songs. She is a rare talent and masterful songwriter/storyteller. She should be ranked as one of THE voices of the 20th century and beyond. She is timeless!
