I love your music but honestly I miss the old flow and the direct messages in the song! NGL in my opinion best song on the album tells it as it is and the moral of the song is clear, which is more of what people need to hear to understand your point of view. The songs with the deep thought messages unfortunately isn't working anymore people are too impatient to think about what they listening to. Bring back the old flow from first two albums with the intellect from T and Y!

A lot of people believe that Lupe has fallen off from his status with his earlier works in Food and Liquor and The Cool but this album that Lupe put out is just as fantastic and deep as he was putting out then. It's lit but why does Jump sound like the song Run The Jewels

This is totally a box of hot garbage.. This crap sounds just like all these other "rappers" now a days. I guess I'm gonna have to keep riding out on my old iPod, because this crap is embarrassing. Everyone sounds the same now a days, no originality. Bunch a friggin clones.. HipHop is certainly dead.. Hoping for a resurrection, but not by this clown..

He Never Disappoints

Lupe Fiasco’s music was supposed to get better after he left Atlantic Records. Instead, it seems to have gotten a little more mainstream-y, or so is the case in the Chicago wonder’s sixth LP, Drogas Light, released through 1st & 15th (his personal imprint) in conjunction with Nashville music-services firm Thirty Tigers. It’s not as if Lupe doesn’t come with messages or substantial lyricism on the project, but they are either scaled back to a somewhat lesser role than before or mixed with kitschy pop-music styles. In other words, he really knows how to put the light in Drogas Light. Lupe gets through all of his most system-critical songs in the beginning half. His call to abandon poor character and poor values in “NGL” (feat. Ty Dolla $ign) risks coming off as misplaced criticism of poor blacks due in large part to its name, “N----s Gonna Lose,” and his list of bad things born in America in “Made in the USA” may seem like simply a jeremiad from the homeland, sans solutions, and both are marred by lacking bars and some snuck-in references to money, cars, choppers and other material ends. Even his “Jump” story of a relatively green artist held hostage for a rap career by a seductive street vixen (his metaphor for the music industry) descends into a bit of club bass’d decrepitude with its easy twerk-to beat and the generic Gizzle as guest. Furthermore, for a song like “Tranquillo,” which is intended to support purity of soul and mind, to feature super mobster-rapper Rick Ross and have love for “myself and all my n----s, all my b----es and all my thugs” (interesting wording) is to put forth a commitment to good that condescends its objects of affection with nasty pejoratives and epithets at the same time. The last very noteworthy part of great passion and depth of meaning would have to be “More Than My Heart,” the finale, which is Lupe’s version of rap’s famous love-for-mom song. The rest has enough visceral gusto to comment on love and romance with sounds of funk, disco and other pop concessions in store. While parts of Drogas Light showcase Lupe’s unmistakably solid rapping, swaths of it have a tendency to feel (at least) like flimsy filler and lowbrow content because of crowd-pleasing beats and Lupe’s chant-deliveries and his more lax flows. Lupe is back but sections of his new album are simply unLupe-like, as he sort of compromises consciousness for trends, not to the nth degree but enough to ache dully. This is Lupe Fiasco as we all know and love him for the most part, albeit to a minuscule loss of hardcore artistry and moral integrity, a modest step down for someone of such stature, originality, character and vocal identity, who came and remained in the game as a very devout conscious emcee. Let’s hope he stays one.

This album is very underrated and it's amazing. Definitely worth listening to more than once. Good job Lupe, I rate this album 4th in the discography right before F&L2 and Lasers

To call Lupe Fiasco a "rapper" is a limitation of his art which doesn't require boundries. This album is built upon a foundation of relevant beats with classic Lupe thoughtfulness in lyrical messaging. If you are a new Lupe Fiasco fan, I suggest you gain contextual insight into this album by studying his discography. An open-mind will be tested, and whether you agree with Lupe's opinions or not, your understanding of his will bring new color to the way you see the world. What can you expect from an artist like Lupe? Only quality. Something worth listening to...Hopefully he doesn't retire like he always says he will.

I loved Lupe Fiasco last album, this one besides like 2 songs lacks song diversity and good beats. It's a big step down from his last project. Feels rushed for a quick buck.

Lupe does it again, lightning strikes twice. This album is apples and oranges from Tetsuo and Youth. Here Lupe Fiasco blends different styles of music from trap, to gold school rap. Often interlacing Easter eggs, thoughtful lyrics, and different beats whether it's the large studio feel of "Pick up the phone" or a simple snare bass sample that sounds like lu mixed it up in the spot to tell you a wonderfully paced story that he is just so good at writing "jump" that make you feel like every song is crafted from his soul. It's that true Lu with a sprinkle of wisdom gained through years in Chicago/Chiraq, coupled with a keen scalpel of self dissection that allows him to drop his ego and speak in a way almost no other rappers can.

Lupe said he was gonna be bringing us an album, and I think he hit his mark spot on. Easily one of the most underrated artists of this time. One of my personal favorite albums of his. Keep up the work. 💯💯💯

If Lupe sounds like this for next 2 albums (Drogas & Skullls) to end his career it would be disappointing. Not a bad album just doesn't sound like Lupe. Still in order The Cool Food & Liquor Tetsuo & Youth Drogas Light Food & Liquor 2 Lasers

3rd favorite rapper from the past 11 years straight. Whose the best mc's? Jay-z Eminem and Lupe,.. after that Mac miller4 drake5 Kendrick is bumped down to 6 from being tied at 3rd. 7th PAC, 8th scolo dolo, 9th andre, 10 nas/big. Potential for jaden smith to step in my top 10 in due time

So let me get this straight...Lupe fights hard for years to release something on his own with no label interference then proceeds to release an album that is completely full of songs that Lupe himself hates? "Drogas Light" should have never happened and he should have just given us Drogas which is slated for later this year *hopefully*. He cannot stop shooting himself in the foot and that's heartbreaking for someone who I looked at as my favorite rapper

iTunes should change its system and not allow reviews until the album is released. I am extremely disappointed in this album. I thought Lupe was back to save hip hop but I was wrong. Bad trap like beats, bad lyricism and the choruses drown the songs. Only good songs are tranquilo and pick up the phone. Last two albums have been subpar and I'm scared they will continue on that path.

Lupe can make any type of song and I'll listen. Congrats Mr. Fiasco this is flames!!

Was very happy to see Lupe release another album. Great album to start 2017. Have always had lots of respect for Lupe and this did not disappoint. By far one of the better albums released in the hip-hop/rap genre in quite some time.
