The album American Teen By Khalid is amazing and much more than just an album. This album is about how life is being a teen. He went through a lot of experiences in his life which he explains through lyrics. In his songs American Teen, it represents the love that he has for being a teenager and how he lives his life as a teenager. He expresses his feelings to someone which shows his creative side. He uses phrases that make sense. There is not a lot of rapping, because he is more of a singer and a poet. He is one of the few artists that does not have a song that is full of profanity which is most artists nowadays. There are a few here and there but other than that his songs are straight to the point. To be honest, when I first listened to the album I thought that it was about something else because it was not clear, but I listened to the album and immediately understood what he was saying. As I looked at his background, I noticed that he is only 18. He has a way of expressing himself to the youth which most can relate. He has a mixture of both rap & pop that coordinate really well together as well. He has a song just based on him being 18 and the struggles he goes through. Yes there are multiple, but one of the one that stands out the most was “Young, Dumb, and Broke”. Most of us can relate because we’re young and sometimes do things that aren’t so smart in highschool and that is where mistakes are made . Being teenagers we are also broke, and do not know how to use money wisely, which leads us to being broke. I would give this album a 5 star because there is significant meaning behind the lyrics and it has good rhythm. I really dig his sense of style and the amount of feeling that is felt when listening to his music. I have listened to this album almost 29 times. This album should win an award because it’s so powerful especially to the youth. Every song has something unique about it based off him being young which a lot of us can relate to; not to mention it’s super catchy. Khalid puts his life into a song that gives people the feels.

This album is impeccable. I am typically not a huge fan of this kind of music, but Khalid has done something special here. He is an incredible talent. I am not exagerating when i say this, but there is not one song in this album that i dont enjoy listenign to. It is a change of pace for me, and will continue to have this album on repeat.
