- Still the best Maiden album

It's where many of us got onboard with Maiden in 1982, and yet they never again achieved this level of synergy combining raw energy with well-conceived musicality and song-craft. If you don't like this (ahem!) you don't really like Iron Maiden. That's not negotiable.

- First Maiden album i ever heard

Still my favorite, along with somewhere in time.

- THE Maiden Album

I write this today on my 50th birthday after redeeming an ITunes gift card and seeing The album cover took me back to 7th grade, the tv playing, my kids in the other room completely disappeared!! I was in my bedroom holding that album cover listening to it for the first time. The devil manipulating the people, but Eddie manipulating him..... brilliant! I’ve seen them live on 6 different tours, definitely one of the best live bands and this is their best album.

- Amazing

Acacia ave and children of the damned just aren't doing it for me but everything else is amazing storytelling, beautiful vocals, and perfect instrumentals... nuff said

- Honestly better than MetallicA

These guys should be part of the big 4, even if they aren’t technically thrash metal. They still are incredible. One thing’s for sure, Eddie is the greatest mascot of all time. (Well, maybe behind the Phanatic)

- Baseball Dude is insane

Anyone that calls themself an Iron Maiden fan and doesn’t like this album has something seriously wrong with them. This is absolutely quintessential Maiden. Every track on this album is great. Iron Maiden has had many great albums, but this was the one that started it for me, and upon listening to it 30 some odd years later it still holds up as just a great metal album. And Hallowed Be Thy Name is indeed one of their greatest epics.

- Not the Maiden we love

As a longtime Iron Maiden fan, it pains me to say that this album is just not doing it for me. I love everything they've done since 7th Son, and I'll even concede that The Book of Souls ranks among my favorite Maiden albums, but I just can't get behind The Number of the Beast. Here is a track-by-track ranking: 1. Invaders: 1/5. With virtually no rhythmic variation in the verses and a chorus with an exceptionally weak melody, Invaders is unfortunately a good indicator of just how bad this album's gonna be. 2. Children of the Damned: 1.5/5. Bruce Dickonson has always been a vocal powerhouse, but his high-pitched crooning never sounds more out-of-place than it does on this track, which I guess is Maiden's attempt at a "doomy" track even though it falls flat on its face. 3. The Prisoner: 3.5/5. What is up with vintage Maiden starting their tracks with these weird, out-of-place monologues that always seem to ruin the song? Such is the case in The Prisoner, which one of the album's more solid tracks once it gets going. Now let's take a moment to admire that The Prisoner is one of this album's better tracks, yet it would rank among the worst on albums like The Book of Souls. Just goes to show how pathetic this band used to be. 4. 22 Acacia Ave: 1.5/5. Boring instrumentals, lyrics are decent until about 2/3 of the way through the song at which point I don't know what they're trying to do with this song's storyline. 5. The Number of the Beast: 1/5. I'm pretty sure Iron Maiden is aware of how little talent they have at this point in their careers, so they throw in a non-satanic satanic song to try to gain infamy among elderly Christians. Oh how original, a band writes a song about a nightmare they had about Satan and makes it their title track so that Christian leaders can publicly denounce it, increasing the band's exposure! Totally not ripping off Black Sabbath's idea for their title track. 6. Run to the Hills: 2/5. People who support vintage Iron Maiden have touted this as Iron Maiden's best song ever. So I was very disappointed when I listened to it and it sounded just like every other song on this album except with a slightly better chorus. 7. Gangland: 1/5. Even people who defend this album acknowledge that this song is pretty bad. Nuff said. 7. Total Eclipse: 0/5. This song is so bad that Iron Maiden didn't even include it in their US release of this album. 8. Hallowed be thy Name: 3/5. It is laughable that this song passes as an "epic" for a band whose catalogue boasts albums where the majority of songs are longer than Hallowed be thy Name (such as The Final Frontier). Iron Maiden is capable of dazzling, sweeping, satisfying epics, but look elsewhere if that's what you want. Overall: Very disappointed that one of my favorite bands could put out such mediocre garbage as this album. I guess you know what they say, you have to start somewhere. But really, this is where they chose to start? Sad! All right, this review has been long enough, it's time for me to click the "submit" button and then start listening to Brave New World, when Maiden was actually GOOD. Edit: some of y'all thought I was being serious, I just want to clarify that this review is a joke and I actually love this album. I don't think Iron Maiden is capable of making bad music.

- THE Iron Maiden

This is the Iron Maiden album to own in your collection if you only have one. This is the one that broke through with “Number of the Beast” , “Hallowed Be they name”, “The Prisoner” and the whole album is a must have! A soundtrack for the end of the world!

- MAIDEN!!!!!!!!!

Love this album!!

- Still holds up

This album or I should say Maiden in general were so innovative in there totally original sound and lyrics at the time of there first couple releases. This album is their 2nd best with piece of mind being a masterpiece of that new sound Maiden created here... sadly as more albums were released they were still good in the vein of being maidens own , originals sound... but nothing sounds new anymore from them ...they did it right in the beginning and made a career on those imo . I feel they worked out that Maiden thing here and just mastered it on piece of mind, and from then on out they just could not quite get that lightening in a bottle again....there’s a track or few of greatness after this album but nothing like these early albums . Dont get me wrong , I’m sure if I were to hear Maiden for the first time and it was book of souls maybe I’d think it was there masterpiece....I’d be wrong but it could be understood as the originality and musicianship of Maiden shines through on all their stuff ...even the synth /keyboard added stuff was good...

- Classic Maiden

I think somebody peed in Baseball Dude’s Cheerios! True Maiden fans agree that this is just another gem by one of the greatest metal bands of our time!

- Wrench turner

I saw Iron Maiden when this album came out .Was amazing concert and they where playing with Judas Priest at the time,I will never forget this just great album beginning to end .

- Missing Total Eclipse

One of the greatest metal albums of all time. The problem with this version is that they removed Total Eclipse, which is one of the best songs on the original CD release. I still give it five stars but whoever removed the sond should be fired!

- Outstanding Maiden

One of their best. No question about it. Baseball Dude, but looser underwear.

- for all you that weren’t there

before you guys talk about this track, you need to know that”total eclipse” was the “B” side for run to the hills. i still spin my 45 picture disc occasionally just to remember how much better it sounds on a turntable. that’s a CD player from 82 kids.

- A Masterpiece

I find it quite impossible to hate a single song from this album. Paul was a great singer, but the introduction of Bruce was a killer find for Maiden. And you know you did a good job when 6/8 of your songs are played on live albums. My only question for you is why you haven’t bought it yet. Up the Irons!

- Excellent

I’d never given Iron Maiden a chance growing up but recently decided to purchase this album as many people who know my tastes said I’d love it. Well they were right. This album is a masterpiece. Hallowed Be Thy Name is the best track!!

- iron maiden i lobe you guys rock on thanks so much for great music

im 26 and iron maiden are the best ever really want see you guys live cant wait for book of souls live album

- Soul lifting - DadToast

Why during a year of depression does this lift my soul with its well crafted wings

- Lift E’M HI

🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🌧🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥☄️☄️☄️☄️☄️☄️☄️🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🌪🌪🌪🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

- Disappointed

I love this album, but wish they didn’t take Total Eclipse off though.

- Iron Fn maiden

Was a child when I first saw run to the hills after that I was hooked 🤘

- Greatest metal album ever!

It’s Iron Maiden. Nuff said.

- Absolute brilliance!

This album was very well put together with each track conveying the human emotions into the instruments themselves, incredible music indeed!

- Still one of the best metal albums ever!

So many great songs, mastery of instruments and the introduction of the best metal vocalist ever, Bruce Dickinson. Hallowed be thy Name is probably on of the best metal songs ever recorded. The whole album is phenomenal!

- Sargent Stadanko

Tell baseball dude his opinion of “Number Of The Beast” album is nothing more than “Fielders’ choice”.

- iron maiden number of the beast

iron maiden number of the beast is an awesome album

- Great album

Great album, but I’ve always liked Piece Of Mind better.

- Missing Track

Where is Total Eclipse?

- Best maiden album

This is not only a classic maiden album but also a classic metal album. This is there greatest album in my opinion you will find this in all greatest metal albums of all time.
