- In love

I'm loving this album it's just what I wanted to hear.

- Junior Slump?

We all know The xx went through a heartbreaking sophomore slump wiht their last album that couldn't possibly match the genius and ingenuity of their debut, and I was HOPING that with this album they would turn around and bring back the passion, but no. This was a shallow album, musically and lyrically, and it seems The xx is doomed to forever chase the beginner's luck genius of their debut.

- Jamie XX Vs. The XX

Unfortunately, this is just Jamie XX's sophomore album. I feel like other than voices, there's nothing resembling The XX. It's almost as if Jamie XX's climb to fame is now the selling point of this band. I like Jamie XX, but I waned this album to have more instrumental/musical input from the vocalists like before. Now it just seems like Jamie XX has to featured guests singing on his tracks. This album isn't bad, it just isn't good. It's missing the harmony that the previous albums had.

- Why do I love the XX so much?

Because with each album, I like them more and more. I love the direction they've gone with each album.

- Interesting

This album is very different compared to what normally listen to. I just heard of this group yesterday and enjoy the album. It's just interesting to me. The sound is calm and soothing. I'd recommend it to anyone that wants something new and original to listen to. ๐Ÿ‘

- Very Happy

I have their 1st album, didn't bother with the 2nd one, picked back up again with this one, and I really really like this album. Seems like a great natural progression for them. Can't stop listening to it!

- Great album

Again they seem to catch my ears with there work. They really are great artist ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฝ

- Everything I've Been Waiting For

On repeat for the past week. Unbelievably magical, definitley worth the wait. Keep it coming the xx, you never disappoint. xx

- A Great Alternative / Easy Listening Album

This album is great if you're in the mood for sober reflections while driving through the mountains on a ski trip. Or maybe if you're at home on a rainy day and putting together a scrap book. It's not a high energy album, except possibly the track "On Hold", but it's good to mix things up once in a while. It's not a sad album, but it's also not something that might pump you up for a night out on the town. The synth lines are evolving and inspiring, and the tempo isn't slow, but the vibe of the album is somewhat somber. In short, it's refreshing that bands like the xx still make music like this, but this probably won't be the album that gets you back into your exercise routine.

- Love

I love them so much๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ–ค

- 2017's first and [so far] most welcome return!

It's been 5 years and spotlight grabbin' turns from Jamie XX's side gig. But wow, The xx deliver 2017's first and [so far] most welcome return! Beats and samples drop like bombs! Nice. Highlights...and there are plenty, include: "On Hold"...a perfect post-Modern love song); "I Dare You"...radio and remix ready; "Say Something Loving"...could it be this year's P!nk & Nate Ruess duet "Just Give Me A Reason"? Well done!

- Synth Emo

I'm an old school new waver/dark wave. If you like Gary Numan, Depeche Mode, The Cure, Bauhaus, The Smiths, and Future Sound of London you will probably like The xx. Their deep beats and moody bass line will put you in a trance. Great for one of those...Love Mixes. I've loved these guys since I first heard Coexist. They are playing at Coachella 2017 this year which I would love to go to. They need to make a trip to Texas!! Come play in Dallas or Austin.

- kinda a let down (2.5 stars tbh)

listened to the whole thing on spotify for a road trip w my boyfriend (me and boi love The xx) and were kinda let down. we only ended up liking 3/10 songs (Preformance, Lips, and On Hold) which is kinda crazy considering we loved every song by them until now :///

- what is the appeal??

don't get it, don't find anything about this music remotely good, and can't understand how anyone else could either

- Organic I'm excited. 3rd Albumns usually show which direction a band is going.

Rarely do bands have the ability, patience, lucky to evoke the same feelings within musicality, production but not create a blueprint for what people like. This isn't the same band who's beat production sampled and layered from funk records, driving bass, and intimate vocals while using space as instrument making them easily the most influential bands through production this decade without question. Yes, using space as an instrument has been done and done well (Chris Issak - Wicked Game) but I've yet to find a band/artist to maintain balance where its not a gimmick it's truely its own instrument (yes, I'm disregarding their second album entirely due to this lack of balance. Some songs felt forced musically while the lyrics came across like unsettled hinsight coming into focus) with space and sound that creates the intimacy of memories of past love and at the same time can remind one why they love music. Jamie XX isn't the XX and In Colour was an album that separated him as an artist into the likes of Four Tet and Burial. Mentioning 'In Colour' is counter-productive, and it's completely irrelevant as well as a digression in reviewing a different or comparing an album made by a band not called the XX, Jamie XX is in this band. Digression aside. This album feels organic in its creation. 'I See You' has a patience thats reminiscent of their first, on a superficial first listen like a dj fixin' for some new black crack needle droping at progression grooves listening in 5 second incriments might hear too much similarity but they're not really listening. It's like seeing someone attractive from a distance and realizing that feeling comes from familiarity of a love lost and not an unsettling bitterness caught up in a bruised ego but a love that shows you the beauty in humanity and the individual you find depth within retrospect its not about that lost love or that it has similarities that are superficial Its growth comes in it artistry which shines and truely makes this album unique. If you're a fan this album can be listened to over and over again and you can let it wash over you without too much thought and it's great. This album conveys so many positive attributes you wish for in a band you might really like. It's one of my favorite albums of 16 but I wouldn't say it's one of the better music albums.

- Nope

Did they phone this one in? So disappointing.

- Nobody Does It Better

A strong improvement over their past work, this album feels more akin to a warm embrace from someone you love, as opposed to the ethereal minimalism we'd grown accustomed to hearing from them. Incredibly refreshing, stunningly beautiful music, and surely one of the best albums of 2017.

- Perfection

Say something loving- the blending of the two voices is Hypnotik and sexy

- Yep

Great album. Trio is as dope a trio you will come across. Dope music from dope musicians. Dope haircuts. Dope beats. I sometimes have gas.

- On Hold is my new fave song!

Saw them perform on SNL and I fell in love!!!

- THE XX

๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฝ

- A Perfect Evolution

Jamie xx combines his new found style as a producer and combines it with the classic xx sound. The result is The xx's most gripping and well rounded record. Perfection!

- Remedy for Mediocre President

This is the only thing that makes me forget the fact that we have a Racist president! I have been waiting for this album to drop for 4 years now and it is finally here!! And right on time when we need some type of hope for the next 4 years. I was always stalking their page for updates and when I finally saw them announce it i cried! I'm a huge fan of The xx and they always cease to amaze me with their music, you have to be a special type of person to be able to understand every beat & every lyric. The amount of love and hard work that they pour into their music is what makes their albums to be so successful. I loved the fact that I was able to have the xx to myself not a lot of people knew who they were but this album is amazing and they deserve the recognition for their great talent! Don't pay attention to any type of review that gives them lower than 4 stars, that's ludicrous the xx is the best!

- Love love love!

Absolutely in love

- The xx

bought your song The xx in support of TripleVMusic

- One of the people in your band made out with my girlfriend so I hate you guys now

Yeah I liked your album but you were bad because you guys are making out with people's girlfriends. I like you guys but I have to hate you now

- Hoping for more

On Hold and A Violent Noise provide a base for gthe album I was hoping for. I feel like every XX album has 2-3 really strong songs and then the rest of the albums could all be blended together as filler and you would never know which album they were from. Hoping that the Hall and Oates On Hold inspiration carries in to a full album up the same alley.

- Every Song ๐Ÿ˜

I'll admit I was a little unsure about this album at first. After sampling through a few of the songs, they sounded boring to me. But once I listened to the entire album again I fell in love. This album is packed full of amazing songs and is definitely worth a listen. Amazing!!

- I See You

A good solid album from The xx from start to finish. I am really enjoying it.

- 8,000+

i am 1 of the 8,000 music #VVVisonaries

- very sexy album

sexy and totally 2017 but reminisent of the 80's. they have great chemistry. vulnerable and open. wow!

- I SEE YOU

I'm so proud of The XX and their new album! I love how Jamie incorporated his beats and style from his In Colour album in to this one with Oliver and Romy. I just wish this album was a little longer. I love you guys and keep up the good work

- Outstanding Work from The xx

I saw an interview of the band and Oliver said that making this album, they were questioning themselves how The xx should sound like, and they realized that they don't have to follow a certain sound but to make music, The xx sound as Romy, Jamie and Oliver, point. This album is really amazing in so many ways, not only The xx has reinvented themselves and didn't follow rules they had in their previous albums but also they have grown alongside us, their fans. On Hold was such a great choice to be the first single, I just can't help but to dance along the song. Other songs like A Violent Noise had such a strong lyrical component and a dazzling beats that match perfectly, Bravo for You is one of the most intimate song they have done yet and the message is so heartbreaking, Replica and I Dare You are also really good with a noticeably more upbeat and danceable parts. I applaud that the band let it go some things but algo include some others! Guys this is pure gold!!

- This is a smash

If this don't get a GRAMMY Nomination I'm gonna boycot. PERIOD.

- They're baaaack! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

Worth the wait!!! Can't wait to see them in concert....love the whole album! โค๏ธ

- SNATCHED!!!

this album gives me all the feels!!!!! 10/10 would recommendddd

- Millie Bobby Brown!

She is on the music video for I Dare You

- Decent worship album

I guess it's a pretty good Christian Worship album. I think they'll bring a lot of youth back to the church with this album.

- Good, but could have been better

A couple of songs on this new release are the well crafted, melodic and slightly melancholy tunes they have done so well. Atmospheric. The rest are a bit dissapointing. Not bad, but I expected them to capitalize on their sound. But, still a good release overall. Enough well crafted tunes to qualify as good.

- Eh...

I really want to like this but nothing on this album is memorable or catchy. A huge lead up to an even bigger disappointment

- Eh,

Not their best but not bad(:

- Finally!!!!!

Switching it up but still have the elements that make them great.

- Wow

DUDE! These guys are amazing. The music they create is so beautiful and touching. Definitely will be played to death by myself.

- I See You

I absolutely adore 'I See You', and I cannot stop playing it! The xx's new album sounds like the xx that we know and love, but at the same time, it sounds nothing like the xx has ever done before. Credits go to Jamie xx, who obviously took some of the ideas and sounds that he introduced on his debut solo work 'In Colour' (the best dance/electronic album of 2015 imo) and adapted it into the new xx album, for delivering a fresh, new and interesting take of the band and its works, and for creating this updated sound in a manner that is both alluring and enjoyable. This new sound is definitely evident on the more danceable sections of the album, such as the two singles 'On Hold' and 'Say Something Loving' as well as 'Dangerous' and album highlight 'I Dare You', and is also evident on the more vulnerable sections of the album, with examples including 'Performance' and 'Brave for You', whilst another album highlight, 'Replica', connects those two parts or personalities to create what is probably the most beautiful moment of the entire album. To sum this album up, it's a definite change of pace for the xx, but it is something I can support and hopefully look forward to hearing more of in the future, and I personally strongly recommend this album for you to buy/stream and listen to, as it definitely deserves the 5 star rating and a definite musical highlight of 2017, at least for me. ๐Ÿ˜๐ŸŽถ

- I See You

WOW so good to hear a band who has soft but strong music that holds you in the spot light and just when you believe its time to run another song holds you there again. The guitar is mezmerising and then along comes the vocals humming away like crystal chanderlers. This band is going places keep your ears and eyes open. Love this album

- Love the two new tracks

Pre-ordering the album as I know it'll be great. Incredible talent.

- Disappointing at best

Even more disappointing than Coexist because at least that had two absolutely stunning tracks that made it worth the wait (Angels and Sunset). This however, seems more comfortable for Jamie because of how much more evident the bass and synthesisers are. This also seems to take too much from EDM and mainstream pop that it strays far too much from the original "xx" album (which was just amazing with many fantastic songs). SNL version of I Dare You sounds better than the album version and Replica is a pretty good song. Still not worth waiting almost 5 years. It's probably a good album, but when you have their debut album as the gold standard, this is just so disappointing.
