Not their best.
I love this don't listen to the hate
I was never expecting this to beat Demon Days, that album is near perfect. However, I was expecting more. Don't get me wrong, there are a fair ammount of gems, but it just feels, off. Damon Didn't pick the right people for the right songs. It feels like Damon just picked artists he liked and placed them into any song. BUT as I said it has it's momentz (eh? I'll let myself out), and those "momentz" REALLY hold the album up. I wish Damon would've been more careful with his placements of artists. FAVORITE TRACKS: Charger, Out of Body, Ticker Tape. Worst Track: We Got the Power
Worst Gorillaz albulm and it's not even close
The best! Hands down Humanz is such an amazing album thank you.
This isn't a Gorillaz album. This album takes a bunch of unheard of Soundcloud rappers, throws them all together on an Album, and occasionally Gorillaz pop their heads up like "yeah I'm actually here still lol". It's garbage. Unless you listen to YouTube playlists of Soudcloud rappers all day then you're going to hate it.
🤢
These songs are focusing on a new age and it shows that with all the cool features and different songs.
I can listen to this album in my sleep so good
w o r t h t h e w a i t
I love this album but WHAT HAPPENED TO STUFF LIKE PLASTIC BEACH?? Also I love 2D's mom jeans. I think that's what made the album!
Just not impressed sorry. Wish I wouldn’t have bought it early. Very different then their older stuff and seems more like an album written on too many drugs in my opinion.
I get some songs on the album aren’t great but I love the album
If I’m honest, I rarely buy albums anymore because I end up liking only a handful of the songs. Even when I do like the majority, only one or two are something special or outstanding. This album blew me away from the very start and has so many memorable, unique and fantastic songs. There’s variety yet consistently great quality music. I can’t recommend Humanz enough for its songs or the art. I rate the album 10/10. The win for Best Band 2018 is well-deserved. Congrats!
This is not a gorillaz album at all. It doesn't sound like them at all. I would recommend to not listen to it. There is not a lot of good songs on here. The good ones: Ascension Out of Body Saturnz Barz The bad ones: Halfway to the halfway house We got the power Everything else is mediocre(except for a few) Overall this was a big disappointment for myself, they are my favorite band but for them to make something like this I can’t really defend it. Each song is either a hit or miss.
This album as opposed to Demon Days and Plastic Beach wasn’t a love at first listen. After a whole summer of listening to it, I finally understand the direction. I love the album now and seeing them recreate this live is amazing. So it’s one for the books!
This is by far the worst Gorillaz album, but I’m giving it four stars because the Gorillaz are so good that even their worst songs are great.
I really wanted to wait for this review. I procrastinated for over a year now and I normally don’t do this sort of thing (actually this is my very first album review written.) This album did release some tracks prior to its official release. To be honest, at listening to their tracks as they debuted on iTunes, they didn’t sound like previous Gorillaz albums, but the songs grew on me quickly. And now, when the entire album debuted, I can see the direction that Damon wanted to get across. Very therapeutic! The reason I say this is for the date of the official release of this album was 04.27.2017. This is the same date as my father’s death. I kept listening to this album even though it reminded me of his demise, it kept me going. It kept me out of total depression. It helped me a lot emotionally and spiritually! Thank you, Damon! You are a Godsend! I hope you keep up the good work! And keep on making life fun and worth living regardless what anyone says or how they review you! The Now Now is also a great album, but Humanz I will hold dear and cherish for the rest of my life on this earth! Maybe I’m saying this, because of sentimental reasons. But truth be told, it’s a great come-back album, beautifully put together, and is very honest in its making! PS: If you collaborate with Grace Jones again, make sure she does more like sing an actual verse. I wanted to hear more from her.
Good stuff, but there MUST be a cleanz version!!! WHERE IS IT? Seriously, fix this. I don't want to listen guttural, gutter trash profane lyrics.
A good comeback
Although I didn’t find out about Gorillaz but around 2015, I started listening to Demon Days. This album was one of the albums my dad during this time. Nothing else, just Demon Days. Then later I got into their debut album, as well as The Fall, Plastic Beach, and some other singles. Now 2 years later, I would usually check iTunes to see the new and pre-order tracks and albums coming up. When I saw Humanz, I obviously knew that this was going to be a good album. And to be honest, it was. Having the modern artists collaborate with my favorite virtual characters, Murdoc Niccals, Stuart Pot (2D), Russel Hobbs, and Noodle, well, we never really know her full name actually. My favorite tracks on the album are mostly Saturnz Barz, Strobelite, Out Of Body, Andromeda, Circle Of Friendz, and Sleeping Powder. I’m a little sad the SUPER DELUXE version is not on iTunes but I still love this album and will still listen to it 24/7 since its release. My favorite remixes on this album, that come separately with this version, are the Banx & Ranx remixes, the Saturnz Barz and Let Me Out. If the Let Me Out remix was the original, it would be one of my favorite tracks. I still now listen to Gorillaz, this time my friends don’t matter what I listen to, they can at least agree once during our hangout. The NOW NOW is overrated for me, so I listen to other albums. I’m sorry if this is too long, I’m just a big fan, WHY YOU CYBER-BULLY ME. I hope to expect more from Murdoc, 2D, Russel, and Noodle. And let’s hope 2D doesn’t get bullied anymore, I know about the phases too. Thanks for reading! (just leave now)
There is maybe 2 or 3 songs that I like but most of it sounds really generic. At the same time they have intgrated a bunch of racey rap that I just hate. I really liked The Apprentice at first until it started going white this and black that and it just lost me. Overall disapointing.
Garbage.
Gorillaz no longer exist. They obviously don't have enough confidence in themselves to create their own music. Instead, they're desperately latching onto rappers in an attempt to develop street cred and seem hip. This disturbing trend started on Plastic Beach and reached its disastrous culmination on Humanz. What an embarrassment.
It’s okay. Really wish they go back to their sound
What happened to this group?
Gorillaz is my absolute favorite band, but I really think (especially for this album) there should be a clean version. Some of us have strict parents lol. 🥲
Humanz truly is underrated👌
All my life...
There are a few good tracks but quite a few of the catchier song have very disturbing lyrics in their uncensored versions. One line literally about killing the white man that one of the collaborator artists must have slipped in. It feels like it’s trying to be edgy and preachy at the same time about things that have been done better elsewhere. Talking about coming together in one song then murking a specific demographic. It’s just odd, contradictory, hypocritical, heavy-handed, preaching. I definitely regret buying this album.
i’ve not bought a digital copy of the album yet, but i’ve listened to all of the tracks and i have to say, the only ones i don’t like are halfway to the halfway house and hallelujah money. other than those two, the album is incredible!
Discombobulated. Uneven. No real radio-friendly hits. Feels like an experimental album. They can do better. But there is definitely some terrific musicianship here in parts and a lot of vision an ambition. It just takes time to really sit through this album and weather it and it’s not always fun and user-friendly.
This album sounds amazing! Still love the Gorillaz!
Definitely not my favorite album by gorillaz, but strobelite and andromeda are pretty good songs so i guess it’s alright. Still one of my least favorites though
The Gorillaz it has that good beat and I like that you have all of there albums of the Gorillaz
Eh
This song is amazing!!!!!
Ya some songs are just amazing but to many features dose not feel like a full blooded Gorillaz album.
Where are 2D's vocals? Oh there they are, taking a backseet to the guest vocalists and the oversized mass of incessant rapping. Where are Noodle's guitars? Basically nonexistent. And Russel must be bored to death playing simple beat after simple beat on that drum machine. Busted and Blue, Hallelujah Money & Ticker Tape are the only songs that relatively have that traditional Gorillaz vibe we resonate with. Everything else just seems like boring club track after boring club track.
The Now Now is much better
Amazing
Way too racial and political. Sold my concert tickets because of this album.
This is good but some songs are bad
sleepy vibes, love it
What crap is this ? Certainly lost. Including multiple collaborations doesn’t hide the fact that song-writing has certainly gone awol.
Not a huge Gorillaz fan, but I really like Momentz…
Track 2 played on Gorillaz Radio
I liked two tracks geniunely but the rest is trash, possilby too many tracks?! Andromeda, Black and Blue where my favourites! They recovered with the new ablum thank goodness.
I counted about 4 songs Damon Albarn sung on which sounded more or less like retreads or afterthoughts. Album of the year? you must be joking.
There awesome

The tunes are sweet, I'm pumped for the 28th.
This album is different from their other ones, but I still like it. :))
Great music! :)
can't wait to buy a four-second interlude for $2.19
This album is for folks who do not need inspiration.
This isn't Gorillaz. What is this garbage.
Disappointing 3 songs worth listening
Wow people call this music. The gorillaz are lost
I love their music it just makes me vibe and want to be happy 👌👌👌👌👌😁😁😁😁
I really enjoyed the previous albums/songs, don't particulary enjoy the new album though. Just doesn't quite have the spark.
In a word: awful.
I listen to this every time I'm on the bus, it's an amazing album because all of the songs are different, but great. 💯/💯
THIS IS AMAZING I'M SO HYPED
Thanks god there back! Can't wait😆
It would appear that getting cushy with fame may have been Damon's undoing. It's like he didn't even try with this album. A very disappointing album. I want to listen to the Gorillaz not every other nobody I don't give a damn about. I'll give you one more album, if it's no good I'll be bailing from the Gorillaz.
Having been a diehard fan since first album.... i've had enough. Full Album of Hip-Hop s h i t.... bowing to popularism and losing music roots. Damon has lost a big fan. I'd give it zero stars if the ratings allowed
Oh dear. Seems Albarn's accidentally taken Gorillaz far too seriously on Humanz. Felt like I was listening to Alexander O'Neale, circa 1988 on Strobelite. And am I the only person who thinks Albarn sounds like Frank Spencer on Charger? Not sure whether to laugh or cry when I hear it. And as for the rest of it, all I can hear are half-polished remnant blips and squeaks from The Fall, which lets face it, only a die-hard fan accepted as a real album following Plastic Beach. Really disappointed as I love the first three albums. Also, I think pre-releasing songs is a mistake as the initial listening experience is a weird mix of familiar and novel, which detracts from the new tracks I reckon. C-
What happened gorillaz, you used to make so much great music but now, i like some of them but mostly it is just messed up trash, they focus less on 2D and more on other guest artists, I wish there was more gorillaz in this and less everyone else
Why do the interludes still cost like $2
As a long time fan I'm happy to say the wait was worth it, only judging by the four songs at our disposal it looks like the rest of the album will be groundbreaking!
This doesn't sound like Gorillaz. Sounds like Albarn just produced a bunch of current pop artist and put it on an album. Disappointing, how can I get my money back, because I won't be listening to this album again.
Brilliant. Did not disappoint. Features amazing artists. Could listen to it on repeat all day long.
Mazing album Tnx GORILLAZ I WAS FIRST PERSON IN AUSTRALIA,DOWNLOADED.
👌👌👌👌🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💯💯💯💯😂😂😂😂😂👏👏👏👏👏👏💯💯🔥 *my longest yeah boi ever*
Awful. Give up Damon
Shall edit later, but the currently released songs are amazing! Literally favourite songs right now.
❤️
These songs are absolutely STUNNING! I cannot wait to hear what the rest of the album sounds like.
This album was totally worth the wait and hype so far!!! THIS IS AMAZING MUSIC AND IM SO HAPPY THEY ARE BACK. Worth the buy. Please buy and experience this!!!
she goes alright
It seems the artistic vision that made gorrilaz great has been lost.
Worst release to date ! This is not Gorillaz this is a mixed tape!
When I first listened to the previews of this album I was scared to listen. Though listening start to finish, it all makes perfect sense. And though it doesn't have the hooks of previous albums it doesn't mean the album is at all lacking.

(I would rate it 4.5 stars but that's not an option) I was extremely hyped for this album. I wasn't disappointed, I wasn't expecting a masterpiece or a game changing piece of art, but for what it is, it's good. My favourite tracks include: busted and blue, satarnz barz, let me out, she's my collar and strobelite. Tbh I still prefer demon days and the self titled, but this would be on par with pb. My main complaint is that there are too many colabs. The only solo track is busted and blue (not including the interludes) although most are brilliant. My other complaint is the lack of real instruments, I miss the impactful drums from demon days and the twangy bass from the self titled album.
Been a life long fan of these guys and it's great to have a new album to listen too. Loving all the guest artist's for all the new and unique tracks they've got going on 👌👌👌
Now I was sceptical at first.... I know I'm a huge fan of the melancholy vibe of The fall, however; At first I wasn't sure about this album BUT IM SO INTO IT NOW! GIVE IT TIME, and you'll be obsessed with every single track on this album! I've got every second of every track stuck in my head.
Was expecting a lot more after waiting so long, nothing to get excited about, and nothing new. Would probably have kept my money if I'd been able to listen to the whole album before purchase.
My recent rediscovery of Gorillaz after last hearing Demon Days resulted in the purchase of this album. And I have to say, it's incredible! A dramatic change, promising to be different and unique. Gorillaz have always been the masters of genre blending, and this is another example of what they can achieve. I mean, chart hits before the rest of the album was released!
It's been so long but it I was not disappointed every song is great, the album kept getting better can't wait till one of these songs too the charts and everyone can now know what good music sounds like But some of the songs are really experimental . 10/10
Was excited. Rather anti-climactic.
Gorillaz don’t hesitate to explore countless genres, even mixing them, and they always manage to produce amazing music out of their experiments. This album is amazing. Damon Albarn is a genius, and all of the other musicians (& team) help bring it all together.
I've been listening to the Gorillaz for about 15 years now and I love all the old albums as much as anyone but I can't get my head around the hate for Humanz. It's new direction for the "band" but that's what Gorillaz is about. It's about new unusual music. For example is there any song like Clint Eastwood, Dirty Harry or Fell good inc. When these songs were released they were a new sound, completely different to any songs at the time. And when people say "to digital, not enough guitar and piano" look at DARE and All Alone from demon days. All Alone could be from this album by how it sounds. Bands constantly change direction about how there songs sound, maybe this is a sign that there experimenting and seeing what people like or maybe it is to appeal to a new generation. Music it to be enjoyed. Don't hate a song just because it isn't the norm.
I'm on my 3rd listen and just don't get it yet.....love the other albums but this one hasn't clicked with me yet. Will persist though....
This album is truly a masterpiece. Each song is a emotional roller coster. Becuase each one has it's unique sound . THIS MASTERPIECE IS A MIX OF HIP-HOP , ROCK,GRIME,SOUL ETC ETC. What i love about Gorillaz is that they don't fit in any box or genre. Yes this album is different from what they have done in the past. But artists regardless of what field they need growth, change and try new things. The whole point of life is development and growing. So i'm baffled why people are comparing this album to past other ones. As fans we have to repect the fact that artists need to change their sound, and do new things. Thats the who point of being an artist IS. They need to embrace new things. They shouldn't live in the past and nor should we. As fans we need to embrace this. We shouldn't put our idols in boxes and restrict what they should and shouldn't do. This is the type of album where you need to listen to more than once to appreciate each song. I'm glad they are back. It's worth the price. Keep in mind change is good. And my ears are happy. Please appreciate this. We need to support artists like Gorillaz. Also it's awesome that that included other gifted artists. Some that i haven't heard in awhile. I'm very happy with this album.
I have never been a fan of the Gorillaz and i am certainly not after listening to this rubbish. Id rather listen to Justin Bieber than this (I cant stand Bieber)
Nowhere near what i expected from these guys! Too much hippy hophop type stuff, looks like i will just have to keep listening to 'Plastic Beach' which imo is great.
No words. Incredible!!
I love this album, it's one of the best but I think Demon Days is just slightly better though still a wonderful album
This is rubbish
First thing first I like this album, don't love it, but I like it enough that I might put it on when doing work or odd jobs around the place. I feel like this because personally it doesn't feel like a GORILLAZ album it just feels like you've put shuffle on for all your music and its mixing random genres with random artists that sometimes sound alright but other times don't. This first half is the best, it flows well and feels like it's meant to be together whereas the second well doesn't... the artists chosen just don't fit with the sound of GORILLAZ and they're a bit too 'popy' or just don't have the replay factor. I love the GORILLAZ but this doesn't feel like them wheres 2Ds wonderful voice, where's Noodles voice seeing that she is older now and sort of 2Ds prodigy so surely she must also have a fantastic voice (think of dare) and of course where's my beautiful soft boy Russel he hasn't really had the spotlight in years and I would say where's green man but we all know about a certain bathroom facility that he found. Overall enjoyable but not memorable not replayable not my GORILLAZ.
The album seems to be musically quite bland, certainly nothing to match 'Dare' or 'Feel Good Inc' in terms of being ear worm tunes... Damon enjoys a lot if musical freedom, but this is almost an album of 'fillers' and has no killer tunes...
Not up to their usual standard of music
Damons voice though --- still sexy as ever
Overall? Eh. I can see they want to always be experimenting and being different, but this I feel alienates by making everything so different, you never know if its going to be what you enjoy or not.
Absolutely rubbish. There's no Gorillaz vibe to it at all. It's just a compilation of various artists. 2 tracks have a vague resemblance to Gorillaz out of 26. What was Damon thinking?
Just something different that's really, really good
Damon Albarn and company return with an album which is very different to the other Gorillaz projects, but it still manages to sustain the quality which Gorillaz albums are known for.
The actual band only seem to be in a few songs, too many “featuring”. For me gorillaz is about strange songs like in plastic beach, and strange and classic in demon days (like dare, Dirty Harry, feel good inc). Only a few of the songs in this current album are slightly similar :( songs like let me out, ticker tape [+...party] sound slightly like the gorillaz! But to me they almost sound unfinished, or there’s too much breaking up of the song, with the featuring artists. This has ruined them for me because they almost don’t feature in the song but completely take it over. I appreciate we got the power, andromeda, the apprentice, strobelite, Saturnz barz etc for their polished sound. But songs like charger, out of body, ascension I just find really annoying! I also appreciate the work that’s gone into this but for me this seems like it wasn’t produced with the gorillaz “band” in mind 😐
So I’m quite a new fan of Gorillaz and I only had to wait a few months for this to come out and when it did, I was disappointed with quite a few songs, but like everything, I gave it a try! I have to say some of the songs I will never like as much as ‘feel good inc’ or ‘rhinestone eyes’ or any other old Gorillaz songs. I hope this album can add to the Gorillaz lore and future songs can be as good as some songs in the past.
There are so many below average tracks on this which, with the passing will fade into the background. Having said that, there is also some gold to be found in here. I guess that's part of the fun with this album: you rummage through all the boring, unmemorable tracks. You find one or two, and they blast you into another dimension of euphoria. Once again Gorrillaz have shown that deep in there somewhere, they still got it.
Fpr 7 odd years in the making i must say it's nothing special, this album feats to many different artists and i feel not like a gorillaz album. The pre-release song and Rag n bone man are the only really decent tracks, the rest feel empty, auto-tuned and just no love. Has nothing on demon days or plastic beach
I thought they where going to make something a bit more unique, but I've got to admit, Strobelite and andromeda are good!
What a massively disappointing album. It's boring, disjointed, insipid, uninspirational, and really a poor effort.
Not as good as plastic beach but having said that it's a grower, the more I listened to it it's seems to get better.
Sorry i have to say this album is utter drivel from start to finish.
This album is another strong addition to the Gorillaz discography, it's dark, catchy, fun and full of energy.
Pretty big let down, dont rate any of the collaborations and theres only one half decent song. I still listen to their older music on a daily basis and i still will as i wont be buying or streaming this album.
Credit where credit is do, there are some major tracks on this album. Lets cut to the chase, Damon, has re-invented himself and has put it out there and it’s not half bad - coming from a critic of previous efforts. Conclusion, different, but not half bad!
The first song I listened to from this awesome band was Feel good inc and dare 15 years ago. It was on the radio in my dads car on the way to primary school and I fell in love with the music and characters straight away. All the albums are amazing there isn't one song I dislike and now they come out with HUMANZ it's bigger and just as awesome as ever. I Just love GORILLAZ 💜💙💚💛❤️🖤
People are saying this isn't like songs such as "Feel Good Inc." or "Dirty Harry" and I think thats great as why would we want to Re-Hash (ehhhy) old songs as thats Gorillaz whole persona they're different and want to make new sounds. I can agree however a bit more Damon/2D would make it just that wee bit better but honestley this album is absolutely amazing!
Gorillaz always know how to use produce music and im absolutely amazed with this album and never feel like listening to anything else other than music Damon Albarn makes because of how good he is at making it
By far the best Gorillaz Album so far.
Humanz is a very good album. Maybe not very Gorillaz like as it is full of features but it is a very good album. It is experimental, sort of like their first album. I think people have sort of jumped onto a hate train with this album but I think you need to listen to it first then decide.
10/10. Brilliant! ❤
Like all Gorillaz albums, some songs take a couple of listens before you apprieciate it, and just woh. Absolutely LOVE IT
💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿
Good songs but I wish there weren't so many collaborations, I love the band as it is, and more noodle vocals 👌🏼
Now, I'd consider myself a huge Gorillaz fan, as many others probably do on this review page. But this album... This bloody album. I wanted to like it soo much. I fully support Gorillaz' experimental vision and that every album is a different genre to a certain extent. But all the songs are slightly above mediocre... at best. And none of them pay tribute to the nostalgic mellowed down, indie bass lines or lyrics we all know and love. I'd say the only songs people will consistently listen to are Saturn Barz, Let Me Out (Rick & Morty meme), Busted and Blue, and a few others I can't remember at the top of my head. Overall, my hopes are set for the next album. Please make it great!
I would give 5 stars but Spongebob isn't on the end of Hallelujah Money.
I am so happy to hear Gorillaz music again. While this isn't as good as their previous albums and will never top my personal favourite: Plastic Beach, it still sounds wonderful and I'm sure I'll listen to these songs more than once.
Loved the last album. This one......1 great track, 1 semi ok, the rest is god awful. Such a massive disappointment :(
Uuuuuut i think some songs are from ok when i first hear it to good when i hear it again, i think because there hasnt been a gorillaz album in a while they just lost their touch like yookah laylee, hopefully with the next album they make it like demon dayz and humanz made a baby and that baby got jacked and took steroids.
People saying 'not as good as feel good inc. etc' are wrong! I'm not saying feel good inc is bad, just this is new and different but still amazing! Just give it a chance
