- Buy one, maybe two songs. that's it.

There are a couple of good songs in here. The rest of the music is horrible. Listen to the Supremes song and that will give you an idea of how bad this album has been put together. Murfman

- Wow, this is really bad!

I was very disappointed by these versions. Stick with the originals!

- One hit winders

I think most people who listen to these recording fail to know that the single that they remember was NOT the only " take " that the group made. Even the Beatles made several different versions or takes of their songs.

- Dont buy

While there are some GREAT songs on this list dont buy those songs here, the recordings are AWFUL.

- Terrible remake

These ARE NOT the original artists on most (if not all) of these songs. If you grew up in the 60s and listened to this music you would know what Sam and Dave or The Supremes sound like and this ain't it.

- Very Disappointing

These are NOT original recordings, though they may be original artists. I can't imagine anyone fully satisfied with these tracks if they were familiar with the originally-issued songs. That is not to say that I can't enjoy them after forcing myself to listen once or twice, but they are not what I wanted or expected. Unfortunately, the 30-second samples seem to be the same for different recordings, so one can't properly judge the quality of two separate tracks which have the same name and artist. I do wish I'd read the reviews first, and saved my money for a better choice.

- Re-makes are not what I paid for!!

Please Please stop selling us re-recordings as originals!!! So you know how disappointing it is to find out you didn't get what you thought you paid for??!! If it's is re-recorded SAY SO!!! I'm tired of wasting my money on lousy re-makes when i thought I had found the original!!!

- Misleading

Not being familiar with the option to review before purchase, I too was very dissapointed in this album. The advertising is misleading and could be classified as "false". I guess buyer beware when the album says "re-recorded" and not "re-mastered". However, I feel dissatisfied customers should be given credit for the purchase of this very bad album remake of good songs.

- Didn't buy, but listened to the previews

I grew up in the 60s and certainly was surrounded and enraptured by all the music. Without a doubt, these ARE NOT the original artists. So, don't be fooled although the price is a mere pittance. I often think of the melodic Neil Sedaka's music and wonder if I'd want any other artist trying to imitate his tenor vocals. Not on your life . . .

- Public Service Announcement

After previewing a few of the songs I can say with certainty these are NOT the original recordings. They may be the original artists, but they are certainly NOT the original recordings. When shopping for music on iTunes, always preview before you purchase: especially where oldies of the 50's and 60's are concerned and also especially if K-Tel is the label. There are many re-recordings and not all of them are properly labeled (though some are). Again I say, these are NOT the original recordings. They may be the original artists, but they are certainly NOT the original recordings.

- He's A Rebel

Not the original songs. There should be a disclaimer upfront. Do not buy any songs from this album!

- Only one song original

Strangely, only one song, one that I've been looking for, is the original artist/recording. "Don't Let The Sun Catch You Crying" by Gerry & the Pacemakers is about the only place on iTunes where I found it! Other than that, mostly re-recordings by original artists, or worse, by cover artist. What the h-e-double "L" is up with "My Guy" version? Geez, this albums suhks except for the ONE tune. I have no idea why only one is on there, but weirdly enough, it is... for that I give it a one (zero would be better).

- Some good, some bad but overall not worth it.

I had the benefit of prior reviews but after listening to a few songs, I purchased anyway. However after listening to all 20 songs, I'd rate the album a mixed bag. Some are the original song by the original artist, some are a different version of the song by the original artist, and some appear to sound like a third party singing the original song. Although there are some "keepers", I've concluded this album is not the bargin I imagined. The resulting search for the original songs to replace the "clunkers" makes this purchase regrettable and not worth the price paid.

- Not ORIGINAL RECORDINGS of these songs don't be fooled

These are new versions of these songs they may be the original artists but they are different versions of the songs save your money

- just read the title. . . . .

Im tired of people saying that itunes doesnt clearly post that they are not the origional recordings. IT DOES SAY IT IN THE TITLE!!!!! true, sometimes itunes neglects to say something about this, but when it is blatently obvious, it makes me angry. besides these are the origional artists, but NOT the origional recordings. just re-recordings.

- Phoney

This is an old TV commercial trick. They get poor impressionists to do bad imitations of real hits and they call the singing group "The Original Stars" or something like that. Strictly a ripoff.

- 20 Best Hits of the 60's

Very misleading ! I'd like my $5.00 back please.

- What...?

Where on earth does this crap come from?

- bgs39

I was 18 and grew up in this era and I can guarantee you they are the original artists. I must admit they did sound better on the Wurlitzer Juke Box on 45rpm records though. They will always be great songs in my book no matter how they sound!

- Worst album ever

MAKE SURE YOU READ REVIEWS!! I didn't and now I guess I am stuck with the cost of this album. I consider this as false advertising and will contact apple to see if I can get my money back. There is NO WAY these are the original artists. They sound like they are all on a helium high.

- NOT

they are suggesting that these are re records by the original artists and I hereby state categorically that track 17 is not me and I was the original!!! This is a remake without original recording artists aka NOT REAL!!!

- Too bad...

These are not the original recordings. Nobody will buy nor enjoy this.

- You Get What You Pay For!!!

Yes !!!These are not the original artists. But with the cost of music today(.99 cents a song) If you like the music from this time to get all these songs for one small price it is worth it. Enjoy the memories!!

- take this off Itunes

take this off Itunes ASAP stop fooling your customers- these are bad recordings

- 20 Best Hits of the 60's (Original Artisit Re-Recording)

price was way to good to be a good CD. The quality is the worst I have ever gotten from I-tunes. The majority of the songs don't even sound as they did back in the day. ( Did they do a poor job of remix and re-recording the music) I should have read all reviews before spending my money. The only thing I will keep from this cd is the titles and will have to get the songs from another source. Well a leason learned here is IF IT APPEARS TO GOOD TO BE TRUE THEN IT IS.

- totally fake-o

I listened to this and thought - no way - one song even has like a disco re--mix behind it - I heard the originals growing up - this is total BS...... yeah fako - elevator - muzakk I--tunes you B**w

- DON'T BUY THIS!

Unless you just want the tunes and don't care that most recordings in this turkey do not sound like the original hits you remember, and some are even arranged differently. Apple should have to include the statement that usually shows on the actual CD that these aren't the original recordings. Only a couple may be, or at least sound so. Those were the ones I sampled, sadly for me. Rate this album negative 3 stars. The 1 star rating is even a joke. If I had the physical CD, I'd shred it!

- Horrible

bad

- Madacy Special Products.

Stop what you are doing, it is driving people insane. I am 18 years old, listen to this stuff and know that Number 9 and maybe Number 8 are the only originals so do not waste your money on this stuff. Where is the rest of the album it is not here.

- shinny

WHAT A PIECE OF CRAP....ITUNES WHY DO YOU KEEP DOING THIS ? GET THE REAL STUFF...

- People need to get in better touch with their memories

I am truly tired of reading whiny disaffected reviews accusing iTunes Store of ripping people off with cheap imitation songs. I was alive then, too, and these songs—and others people complain about—sound exactly the way I remember them. If you still have doubts, listen to "Remember (Walkin' in the Sand); EXACTLY as bad as I remember it!

- gay

if ur gonna make a knock-off, at least try to make it believable

- 20 Hits of 60's

Amateur redo's. I felt ripped off.

- Not even close

I thought these would be remastered versions but they're not. They're some genius' idea of an updated remix. Very disappointing. I wish I knew how to get my money back.

- Caveat Emptor

Buyer beware: the artists may be "original," but the recordings are not. I purchased what I thought was the 1965 version of "This Diamond Ring" by Gary Lewis & the Playboys. Uh-uh. This album is another K-Tel like rip-off.

- A Rip off and Lie

I am dissapointed that iTunes is allowing this to be advertized with the out right lie of "Original Artists" - I want my money back!

- Sad. Just sad.

In agreement with the other reviewers on here. These versions are a pale imitation of the original songs. I bought two without listening, since they were the only versions available on iTunes. It was money thrown away. The versions on here sounded as if the artists were heavily sedated and the orginally happy and upbeat songs ended up sounding depressing.

- Does NOT sound the same!!

Agree with another reviewer. MAY be SAME artist, but absolutely DOES NOT sound like original. What a shame!

- 20 Best of 60's Rock & Roll II

Looked like a great deal. Unfortunately, while the selections may be by the original artists, the arrangements are different and the songs do not bring back the same great times. Hugely disappointing and unusual for iTunes. I went through and sent them all to the recycle can--big waste of money. I should have previewed them first!

- 20 Best Hits of the 60's

If it looks too good to be true then it probably is...... Deceptive-looking bargain...lesson learned...READ ALL REVIEWS. Music consumers don't deal well with being scammed.gramsay53@yahoo

- If there was a 'zero star' option I'd have selected it

I was skeptical of what people were saying in their reviews. After all, how bad could it be since I LOVE some of these songs. However, they were right on the money. Save your $0.99/song for something else. In fact, if you like some of these songs, they might be elsewhere on iTunes, perhaps in other compilations. What's most disturbing is that the original artist is listed even when it's not them singing.

- As a matter of fact....

Chuck Blasko, a founding member of the Vogues lobbied congress in the early 2000's to make changes to copyright laws concerning band trademarks. As it is, the law allows the new owner of a trademark name to assign it to anyone they want, even if it's all new members. There might be original members in these songs, or maybe none at all. Currently, Chuck is performing as Chuck Blasko & The Vogues in the 14 Western Pennsylvania counties that were awarded to him by the courts. It's the trademark laws that spawns all these so-called "re-recorded" versions. Some people actually like the re-recorded versions better (stereo, better recording equipment, etc.) but I always get the original release, by hook or by crook. You just have to hunt around more, but it's more rewarding when you finally tag the original.

- I dont know what you were listening to in the 60's

After a quick review, I beleive most of these songs are from the original artists. From the late 50's to around 1963 this type of vocal based pop music was crowding the airwaves of america. Wether you fondly remember these songs or dont remember them at all, this is a pretty good collection from that period.

- Diamonds in the rough- there are original recordings here, but...

One star each for the only two original recordings on the album- 'Don't Let the Sun Catch You Crying,' by Gerry & The Pacemakers, and The Vogues 'You're The One.' The rest are all not the original recordings. One star thrown in for the rest- the other songs are OK, just not the originals everyone has grown to love. There are some good songs here, if you're ok without the originals.

- 20 best hit of the 60's

I thought I found a bargin. Turns out the varous artists are not the "original" artists. At least Ben E. King sure didn't sound like himself. Proof, that you get what you pay for it valid.

- RoboMan...

Amen!!!

- We look like crackpots

I'm not happy with the album either, but RoboMan, go to a bowling alley on dictionary night.

- Not a fan of copy music!

Come on iTunes, quit trying to pass off remakes as original artist's. This collection for instance is GARBAGE. It's like some karaoke nonsense. You think people who buy music on iTunes can't tell the difference between the originals and remakes? Three notes into the intro and anyone who's into music can tell that these songs are poor copies, done by studio wanna be's. Get a Grip will ya and stop wasting all our time.

- 20 Best Hits of the 60's

WHAT A WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY - IT'S AWFUL - I BOUGHT, I DELETED!!!

- Re-Recorded Doesn't Mean Original

I'm a very good customer of iTunes and have purchased a lot of great music at a great price but even I have been duped into buying something non-original. I love 60's oldies and just listened to a (re-recorded) version of Herman Hermit's "Mrs Brown". Not only am I sure it wasn't the original band but the speed of it was almost time and a half of what the original is. This is an injustice. Sometimes oldies don't need to be cleaned up didgitally. They should be available in the original recording version. That's what brings back the memories. Thank you.
