Perception is the third studio album by American hip-hop artist NF. It was released on October 6, 2017, through Capitol Records alongside NF's newly launched label NF Real Music. The album was entirely produced by American producers Tommee Profitt and David Garcia, and features a guest performance from American singer Ruelle. The album reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200. Perception debuted at No. 1 on the US Billboard 200 with 55,000 album-equivalent units, including 38,000 pure album sales in its first week, becoming both NF's first US top 10 and No. 1 album. In its second week, the album fell to No. 25 with 18,000 album-equivalent units of which 5,000 were in traditional album sales.On March 22, 2018, the album was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for combined sales and album-equivalent units of over 500,000 units in the United States. On January 11, 2019, the album was certified platinum by the RIAA for sales of over 1,000,000 units in the United States. As of August 2019, the album has earned 1.1 million equivalent album units, with 160,000 coming from album sales.

It hit me deep! Thankful for NF and his life. Praying for him and his family. His songs hit me in a way more passionate than others do. He has dreams that he didn’t really care what everyone else thought about and that’s what really is important. If at any time NF was just getting way to stressed, and he just wanted to continue writing songs but not put it out for the public eye to see, then that is what I would want him to do. I want the best for him, and so if that is what he would need to do then so be it. Love his work that he has done for us and if he ever says that’s it, then it’s it. Be patient with the guy he’s going through things that most of us can’t understand right now. And if he were reading this I’d tell him what he has singed about has changed him not us but him. And I would recommend that he continue down the path he’s on and not to let others tell him what to do. That he is better off doing what he is doing now. Just because he’s different and writes songs for you doesn’t mean you should admire the guy. Admire him for who he is as a person. For what he puts his time and dedication into. He is what sets the world on fire. He is what God is watching over and if anyone was to do the right thing in a moment it would be him. He is letting go of what he has done in the past and looking forward to the future and so should you. So thank you NF for your dedication and support to all of us! God Bless You!!

I've got almost all of his songs on repeat. Every single one of his albums have been a banger. I love how no matter how much people say his music is dark and painful, it only motivates him. In Intro 2(Therapy Session), he says if you want me to tell you want to hear I'm not gonna be any help. He keeps it real(get it) with his fans because there are people who relate to his music. If you don't like his music, that's you. That doesn't make it bad or insignificant or trash. Music has always been my therapist, my coping strategy and NF was like the only person who has felt like I did when I was going through dark times. His music really did save me. I have so much to say but don’t know where to start. I grew up in a abusive,neglected ,sexual childhood until I was 6 years old. I got put in foster with my two sisters and separated from my two brothers. I haven’t see them in 5 years. I got adopted and I’m growing up in a Christian family. I heard of the song let you down by nf but didn’t know who it was at the time. And my bff who is a huge fan Jacob Blackmun introduced to nf . He has a bad past too. I love nf !!! He went through a lot and copes with songwriting. To all the haters of nf please don’t judge he has gone through so soooooo much. I love you nf . Perception (from Latin perceptio 'gathering, receiving') is the organization, identification, and interpretation of sensory information in order to represent and understand the presented information or environment. All perception involves signals that go through the nervous system, which in turn result from physical or chemical stimulation of the sensory system. Vision involves light striking the retina of the eye; smell is mediated by odor molecules; and hearing involves pressure waves. Perception is not only the passive receipt of these signals, but it is also shaped by the recipient's learning, memory, expectation, and attention. Sensory input is a process that transforms this low-level information to higher-level information (e.g., extracts shapes for object recognition). The following process connects a person's concepts and expectations (or knowledge) with restorative and selective mechanisms, such as attention, that influence perception. Perception depends on complex functions of the nervous system, but subjectively seems mostly effortless because this processing happens outside conscious awareness. Since the rise of experimental psychology in the 19th century, psychology's understanding of perception has progressed by combining a variety of techniques. Psychophysics quantitatively describes the relationships between the physical qualities of the sensory input and perception. Sensory neuroscience studies the neural mechanisms underlying perception. Perceptual systems can also be studied computationally, in terms of the information they process. Perceptual issues in philosophy include the extent to which sensory qualities such as sound, smell or color exist in objective reality rather than in the mind of the perceiver. Although people traditionally viewed the senses as passive receptors, the study of illusions and ambiguous images has demonstrated that the brain's perceptual systems actively and pre-consciously attempt to make sense of their input. There is still active debate about the extent to which perception is an active process of hypothesis testing, analogous to science, or whether realistic sensory information is rich enough to make this process unnecessary. The perceptual systems of the brain enable individuals to see the world around them as stable, even though the sensory information is typically incomplete and rapidly varying. Human and other animal brains are structured in a modular way, with different areas processing different kinds of sensory information. Some of these modules take the form of sensory maps, mapping some aspect of the world across part of the brain's surface. These different modules are interconnected and influence each other. For instance, taste is strongly influenced by smell.
