About The House of Blue Light by Deep Purple Album
The House of Blue Light is the twelfth album by Deep Purple. It was recorded in 1986 and released in January 1987. It was the second album recorded by the classic Mark II line-up after its reunion in 1984. However, it failed to match the success of their previous release, Perfect Strangers. The album reached # 34 in the States. Two singles were released from The House Of Blue Light: "Call of the Wild" and "Bad Attitude". Both reached #14 on Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks. The album is generally criticised by the fans and the musicians themselves for lacking a true band spirit. It is well-known that tensions within the band appeared again during the recording sessions and led to the firing of Ian Gillan 2 years later. Various member of the band also expressed their regrets that they made a mistake in trying to achieve a modern sound, which was not what fans expected from Deep Purple. It was the twelfth album by Deep Purple, sixth by the Mark II line-up and second after the band's reunion. After the tour in support of the album, this line-up ceased to exist only to reunite one more time for a short time in 1993.
