- Voyager One

Can’t wait to hear the rest of the album! Definitely a bit different from what you may be used to, but this is why I’m such a fan. From melodic ballads to bluegrass to pop, to funk. He’s a talent.

- Musical artistry, current and hip.

Some folks write songs. Others are incredible musicians. Occasionally, you may come across someone with talent in both areas and that is a treat. But rarely – oh, so rarely – is an individual a true artist, evolving over time and taking forays that don’t always work, exploring the furthest recesses of the craft, fearlessly attempting to grow. Bruce Hornsby is such an artist. This album features jazz progressions, ethereal tones, wordsmith lyrics, playing so tight it seems looped (it’s not), and depth incorporating at least a momentary vibe from every album leading up to it. No, it’s not 1986. But neither is it 1996, 2006 or 2016. This is very fresh, showcasing what happens if you spend time playing with lots of people from multiple genres, and a current snapshot of someone at the pinnacle of his game. Highly recommended.

- Just fantastic!

It’s rare that an album catches one’s attention the way this one does. Just fantastic! With Jack Dejohnette to boot!

- Great recording

Say what you want to about Bruce. he's one always open to take his music thru different genres and open ears. he is very open to new ideas and spaces. Been following him for a lot of years. And he always delivers something pleasing to the ears and mind.

- Ummm....

If you are a hardcore longtime Bruce Hornsby fan this album is a complete pass. Just move along.

- Excited

Always ready for a new Bruce album. Not sure how I feel about the new single though. I’m sure the rest of the album will be really fun though. Every Bruce album is different then the one before it haha

- Very Good at First Listen

This album is a stunning return to form for Mr. Hornsby, the musician's musician. At first listen, there is so much here to explore. Great, memorable melodies and hooks, unusual turns, very diverse use of instruments...it's all here and frankly, this will be lots of fun to hear over and over, to figure out what you might have missed the first few listens. Track by track purchase not needed here, gang. I bought the album and you will want to, as well.

- Original & Brilliant!

No words to say, this moody album tells it all musically with no bounds.

- Absolute 10

Wonderful album, full of (nerdy) lyricism and Musicianship. Especially like the tracks with Jack DeJohnette...

- Another place...

Bruce has never been afraid to take his music and his fans on journeys to other places. Absolute Zero is no different. Bruce continues to grow both personally and musically. Who woulda thunk a tune like Absolute Zero with the true master Jack D on drums plus strings would be the opening tune on the new release. Go Bruce...I'm on board.

- Swing and a miss

Disclaimer -- longtime Hornsby fan here, seen him live (Noisemakers and solo) many times and am a huge fan of his back catalog AND amazing improvisational ability. That said, this album is just not good. Sorry.

- Yes....

Bruce Hornsby and Justin Vernon - who would have guessed? Cast off is a beautiful and unique song that just works.... Both artists are amazing and I appreciate their joined talent and collaboration.

- LOVE IT!!

The sign of a true artist can be heard right here. Superb album. Rare and quite wonderful!!

Absolute Zero Wiki

Absolute zero is the lowest limit of the thermodynamic temperature scale; a state at which the enthalpy and entropy of a cooled ideal gas reach their minimum value, taken as zero kelvin. The fundamental particles of nature have minimum vibrational motion, retaining only quantum mechanical, zero-point energy-induced particle motion. The theoretical temperature is determined by extrapolating the ideal gas law; by international agreement, absolute zero is taken as −273.15 degrees on the Celsius scale (International System of Units), which equals −459.67 degrees on the Fahrenheit scale (United States customary units or imperial units). The corresponding Kelvin and Rankine temperature scales set their zero points at absolute zero by definition. It is commonly thought of as the lowest temperature possible, but it is not the lowest enthalpy state possible, because all real substances begin to depart from the ideal gas when cooled as they approach the change of state to liquid, and then to solid; and the sum of the enthalpy of vaporization (gas to liquid) and enthalpy of fusion (liquid to solid) exceeds the ideal gas's change in enthalpy to absolute zero. In the quantum-mechanical description, matter at absolute zero is in its ground state, the point of lowest internal energy. The laws of thermodynamics indicate that absolute zero cannot be reached using only thermodynamic means, because the temperature of the substance being cooled approaches the temperature of the cooling agent asymptotically. Even a system at absolute zero, if it could somehow be achieved, would still possess quantum mechanical zero-point energy, the energy of its ground state at absolute zero; the kinetic energy of the ground state cannot be removed. Scientists and technologists routinely achieve temperatures close to absolute zero, where matter exhibits quantum effects such as Bose–Einstein condensate, superconductivity and superfluidity.
