About Slipknot - We Are Not Your Kind Album

We Are Not Your Kind is the sixth studio album by American heavy metal band Slipknot, released under the Roadrunner Records imprint. We Are Not Your Kind is the first album by the band not to feature percussionist Chris Fehn. The album is named after a phrase from Slipknot's earlier release "All Out Life". Guitarist Jim Root said that the album is "the most time we've had to write a record, and work stuff out together" and that "while the industry is moving toward singles, Slipknot wanted to make an album experience, front to back." ..

I love it!!. I really think this is a fantastic album. Seriously. A fine piece of music from a band that has been around for more than twenty years and still has plenty to say. I’ve seen a few negative reviews and feel these are coming from whiny over privileged millennials that will never be happy with anything because they are over caffeinated, overstimulated products of a technology based generation that can’t appreciate an honest effort at an artist’s craft. Slipknot still delivers the goods and are relevant to those who appreciate musicians who make music that they believe in. Great album!

First solid album since Vol. 3. Slipknot has had quite the journey up to this point. Their last two albums, while having a handful of songs that are on par with the band’s potential, stumbled heavily and the results were a far cry from what they’re capable me of. I got excited when I heard All Out Life last year. Then Unsainted came out during a time where the lyrics mirrored what I was going through personally at the time. And then they released Solway Firth, a song that I cannot stop listening to. For me, this is their best song ever. It stands head and shoulders above everything else they’ve written. Just a great song and a great ending to a great album.

Not the band I remember. While I enjoy the heaviness and aggression Slipknot maintains. There’s just something a little off when they try to go too much in that “Pink Floyd” direction.

Old but new. This is good stuff. It sounds like their old music, but with a little bit of new sounds. It’s good but I have to admit, not as good as their older stuff. Don’t get me wrong, this is their best album since Vol.3, there was a few good songs in between then, but I can only think of 4 without hearing the song (Psycosocial, sulfur, The devil in I, and Snuff), but all the songs on here are great, it’s easy to listen to the whole album without skipping one or two songs to get to the next good one! Makes me hopeful for the next album they release

VERY different m, but still amazing!. This was probably one of the most anticipated albums of the year and it was worth the wait! It’s not traditional Slipknot, but that’s what makes it Slipknot. So experimental and shows how much potential the band still has. Corey’s vocals are INSANE! Ever since he stopped smoking his screams and singing have gotten SO much better. Over all, I love it.

(SIC) Maggots!. Awesome album. Way better than gray chapter and all hope is gone. It is either tied or slightly better than volume 3. Nero forte, and a liars funeral is awesome. I wish that the only short song was insert coin. Death because of death should have been replaced with a heavier song and the what’s next should have been a longer intro from spiders or cut. My pain does not deserve all the hate. This album is sic. If your 555 than I’m 666. Can we get music videos for Nero forte, a liars funeral, and orphan or critical darling.

The best Slipknot Album in a decade.. After giving me self almost 2 weeks to listen to We Are Not Your Kind. I have to say that a love it. I consider it to be a cross between Iowa & Vol. 3 with some extra influence sprinkled in there. And by “extra influence” I’m taking about the song “Spiders”. I think it’s awesome, but I couldn’t help but joke to myself that sounds like something Mushroomhead would have written. The song might as well have been produced by Steve “Skinny” Felton. But I mean that in a good way because I love Mushroomhead too. It was just me being silly.......As for the rest of the album? It hits hard and has some awesome melodies in the choruses that stick to your brain, Nero Forte is the best example. Love the song “Orphan”. It’s probably the heaviest song on the album. I love how there are songs that get a little more progressive than a song like “All Out Life”, I felt like that song had too many repeating riffs. With song like “Orphan” and “Red Flag”, they do a great job adding more riffs to their “recipe”. Sadly, I think “My Pain” is a wasted track. I think they should have added another heavy hitter in its place. But it’s not my band, so who cares. Buy this album and put Slipknot where they deserve, standing on the top of the musical heap over all the pop garbage that’s ruining the music world.

What station is this? K Snooze?. The last song is good. The rest are good for sleeping. Boring riffs. Slow songs. Two minute noise fillers. A bizarre interlude. When the dust settles and everyone loses their excitement because there’s a new slipknot album out and they actually listen to this thing, well let’s see how many 5 stars it’s gets then....

Long time fan... not bent over this one.. Just like every other longtime fan, I was expecting something that resembled the “good old days” of Slipknot i.e. Iowa, Slipknot, Subliminal Verses, etc. but this album surprisingly exceeded my expectations; despite the band’s unique and (in my opinion) unexpected musical evolution. Their core is still there; this is still Slipknot. You are now simply experiencing the more sophisticated and mature version of this kicka$$ metal band.

A Slipknot Journey. Slipknot has crafted an incredibly cohesive album from start to finish. I love albums that take you on a journey that feels cohesive while each song is unique. From start to finish, every second, every note is a piece of "We Are Not Your Kind." There are no fillers on this record and the songwriting is the best Slipknot has ever been. The only downer is the exclusion of "All Out Life", which would have fit in great with these songs but hey, that's what playlists are for! Album of the Yeaer in my book, great work Slipknot.

Each song has its own feel to it but they’re still a cohesive piece which is amazing. Slipknot has always blown me away with each new record they put out, but this is just insanity. Slipknot - We Are Not Your Kind Album Wiki

We Are Not Your Kind is the sixth studio album by American heavy metal band Slipknot. Recorded at EastWest Studios in Hollywood, California with co-producer Greg Fidelman (who previously produced the band's 2014 album .5: The Gray Chapter), it was released on August 9, 2019 by Roadrunner Records. The title is taken from a lyric in the song "All Out Life", which was released as a standalone single in 2018 and features as a bonus track on the Japanese edition of the album. We Are Not Your Kind is the first Slipknot album not to feature percussionist Chris Fehn, who was dismissed in March 2019 after suing the group for alleged unpaid royalties. After the conclusion of the touring cycle for .5: The Gray Chapter, Slipknot guitarist Jim Root and percussionist Shawn "Clown" Crahan began writing and demoing material for the band's follow-up album in early 2017. According to Crahan, the group wrote and recorded a total of 22 songs and 26 interludes, with the plan initially being to produce the band's first double album. Recording began in November 2018, shortly after the release of the standalone single "All Out Life". The album was completed by April 2019 and "Unsainted" was released as the lead single the next month. This was followed by "Solway Firth" in July and "Birth of the Cruel" in August. Media response to We Are Not Your Kind was overwhelmingly positive, with the album receiving critical acclaim. Numerous commentators hailed the album as one of the best releases of Slipknot's career, praising the level of experimentation displayed on several key songs. Others highlighted it as a modern landmark release in the heavy metal genre. "Unsainted" reached number 10 on the US Billboard Mainstream Rock chart, while "Solway Firth" also reached the UK Rock & Metal Singles Chart top ten. We Are Not Your Kind debuted at number 1 on both the US Billboard 200 and the UK Albums Chart, as well as several other charts around the world..
