Nobody does it like Beyoncé and everything she does proves that she alone is a revolution
Everyone slept on this masterpiece and they are missing out.
So! The title may be misleading, but it’s important to understand that the title is the inspiration, and the result is The Gift. Artist like Prince, Elton John and Phil Collins have done the exact same album concept; music inspired by a movie. I really like the music, and I appreciate B helping to introduce West African music and sound to the American musical lexicon. The album is really good, from start to finish the album flows very well. The album also is tied to the movie Black is King on Disney+. The movie makes the album even more vivid and a worthy listen. If you don’t like the album, you just don’t get the “sound” she’s going for here. It’s a great album. Give it a listen.
Finally an album I can just dance to through and through. People are too busy thinking about the movie instead of enjoying the album. I love the lion king and Beyonce and the album. Also the album does coordinate but others are too simple minded to understand. The mayo ignorance be gone.
This gave me my LIFEEEEE YOU BETTER SNAP MAMA
Others are just hating for no reason. This is a beautiful reimagining of the lessons of Lion King. It’s not called Lion King, it’s called Black is King. They are different stories with similar lessons. I love this whole album and the original Lion King. It’s okay to like both lol.
What’s wit all the bash?? This album is cool! ✨🤎
I love find your way back
F.U.B.U ❤️
Some songs on the soundtrack/record are good! But I don’t really like it overall ... not worth buying!
This is not a soundtrack and that’s ok, Lion King doesn’t need a 2nd soundtrack. This is fresh new music from African and American artists. My new fave!
I love every song on this album. I truly appreciate her creativity. You have to be rooted to understand the lyrics. Another great one for the books. May GOD continue to bless you to make more good music for the culture.
I like to hear Beyoncé flex her vocal ability. The way these artist came together to make this gift is awesome!! 👏🏽
One of the best projects from Beyoncé. From Bigger to OTHERSIDE, what a wonderful album. Beyoncé knows how to empower people through music (Brown Skin Girl).
Great music
Unfortunately
If Beyoncé just PROMOTED then this album could’ve achieved GREATNESS! Songs in this album are SUUUUUUUUUUPER GOOD! Truly a love letter to Africa!
❤️❤️❤️
You might call me crazy for saying this but I looked through the comments and I saw many people claiming “oh why doesn’t the songs in here match the movie” or “it only words because its Beyoncé” etc. i’m pretty sure the album isn’t supposed to reflect on the movie “the lion king” 100% this is clearly supposed to show her appreciation to African/Black Culture in her music there’s no reason to make up an excuse about “oh well the songs don’t match at all “ that’s the point it’s not supposed to match but that’s just my opinion.
If you are close minded and out of touch with yourself I guess you won’t like it... this whole album is a piece of art. I see how it resonates with the movie and also how it represents Africa and the values of a culture that perseveres. Beyoncé knows exactly what she’s doing and I appreciate how she’s evolved and settled into her own truth. Y’all just some haters man, dang! Lol GREAT ALBUM! The movie sucked though, just because the original can’t ever be beat.. 🤷🏽♀️🧡✨
I don’t give a darn about what people think about this I love this and whoever doesn’t is crazy also how is this confusing nothing is confusing when it’s Beyoncé pretty hurts guys pretty hurts
a beautiful album. definitely worth it. each song is lovely. to everyone who made this, thank you for making this unforgettable work of art. i just can’t stop listening to each and every melody on this track. 10\10. would highly recommend for a spectacular experience.🥶
I love Brown Skin Girl because I have dark skin and the message is to love you the way you are.
I love it so much
Trash doo doo
✊🏿✊🏾
This album Was beautiful, breathtaking, embracing, Inspirational, Entertaining, Black Excellence Itself, The Beauty of Blackness & I loved it ❤️❤️😌😌😌💯💯
Need the video for my power
yes
Elton John did the music for the Lion King. Watching them parade Beyoncé around like it is her work makes me sick. Just no.
I notice that there are quite a few reviews about this album from individuals who only listen to an extremely limited variety of music and have no idea what they’re speaking on. It takes an artist of a certain caliber to be daring enough to pull a recording of this type off. She calls this her “Love letter to Africa” and it’s nothing short of spectacular. Part of Beyoncé’s greatness lies in those she surrounds herself with. “The Gift” features artists like Burna Boy, Tiwa Savage, Mr. Eazi Tierra Whack and more!!! Each song is thematically tied to the original “The Lion King” film and soundtrack. “Bigger” is the “Circle of Life” of the album, “Mood 4Eva” is “Hakuna Maratha” and so forth. If you’re a fan of Afrobeat or Hip Hop music this album is for you!!! There’s a lot of high energy music on this album (My Power), mid tempos (Ja Ara E), and ballads. “Keys to the Kingdom” (performer by Tiwa Savage) is a song that Nala would have sang to Simba. I’d say it’s one of the best moments on the recording next to Beyoncé’s bittersweet “Otherside”. Pharrell reunites with Beyoncé for “Water”, which sounds like a celebration. We also get another Beyoncé/Kendrick Lamar collaboration in the form a song entitled “The Nile”. This album is very ambitious just because of the existing content that it’s associated with. That’s enough for me to rate it very highly.
Just finished watching the movie and I am still in awe of the beauty - what an incredible celebration of fashion, talent, voices, dancing, empowerment and blackness. I was moved to tears by the messages and pure genius of this movie. I am so glad that we can all witness this beauty and these rich cultures on our screens. I see a lot of jealous, pathetic white people who cannot achieve anything in their lives due to their own laziness and all they do is criticize Beyonce. Go do something with your life. Try to create at least 10 seconds of what she's created before you post something here.
Really great song b!
❤️
By far, my favorite Beyoncé album…those in tune with the culture will love it!
Coolest
to the people thinking this is a LK soundtrack, you obv weren’t listening and watching the imagery, idioms and art utilized in the ‘Black Is King’ masterpiece. This goes way beyond The Lion King. you see the story of moses, the art of being Black, Motherland Africa, etc. there is SO much more to this than Simba and Nala. Beyoncé uses the ‘The Lion King’ to help guide the purpose and point of this album and visual masterpiece to say that Black is Powerful, Beautiful, Unapologetic, Artistic, Infinite, Phenomenal and KING. Little black children now and forever will watch this, read the lyrics and see their rich culture in such a positive beautiful light, being celebrated with such beauty.. THAT is her purpose. this message is meant to reach all the Black Kings told in today’s societies that they won’t/can’t amount to much because of the color of their skin. Beyoncé says different. She says that BECAUSE of your Black skin, you are more than what they say you are; because Black IS King. Growing up, we never had black role models on TV, in Hollywood, or in our toys. Thanks to ‘Black Is King’, children will grow up with the mentality that their worth is monumental. they will have a Queen/King mentality. that was her aim. If you cannot grasp the point or her purpose/aim for the message she is trying to portray then don’t buy it. — im sure she’s not gonna miss 1 dolla 💵
Keep giving confidence to those little girls that need it! 💪🏽
The album is so amazing and creative like OMG BEYONCÉ YOU DID IT AGAIN 🥰
bigger and spirit omgggg😍 every single song is out of this world. Beyoncé I love youuu🩶
Another BEST album from The Queen Bey as always!!! 🤩🤩🤩 Now normally I always give five stars to all Beyonce’s albums. However, the only reason I’m giving four stars is because I don’t like to the fact that Jessie Reyez is in this album... and to me Jessie Reyez is the WORST singer ever! She has a very HORRIBLE singing voice! I don’t know what Beyonce and everyone else in her team was thinking for having her part of a song. So because of that, I have no choice but to give The Gift four stars. If it wasn’t for Jessie Reyez, this would be a perfect five-star album. Other than that, it is still a masterpiece album. Thank you again, Queen Bey! 💖💖💖
In my opinion, this is simply one of Beyonce’s best bodies of work! I really enjoy how she encapsulates many different African cultures and artists. Unfortunately there are ignorant and arrogant people who don’t understand the overall concept, focus, and storytelling of the album, to appreciate or enjoy the album. I think narrow minded people should really broaden their perspective overall on music and entertainment outside what they are comfortable with, instead of tearing down others. I think Beyonce did a wonderful job on this album!
Been looking at the “criticisms” and it’s nothing but other artist’s stans trying to discredit and disrespect this woman. This project tells a story and reimagines the lion king story with respects to afrobeats and African culture. She’s doing something that virtually no one has done, bringing afrobeats to a mainstream American and worldwide audience. A genius move and she truly is a visionary. Y’all stans… y’all just sad and miserable 🤷🏾♂️
I love this album. Back off haters
This Album is a banger. I sorry y’all aren’t educated enough. It’s not Beyoncé’s fault
This song is so catchy it stock in my head
Powerful. Enjoyed the variety especially the African singers and musicians. She gets better and better.
She is a gift to us all; and, THIS body of work is Black Art... Thank you Brown Skinned Girl Queen 👏🏾🙅🏾♀️🙇🏾♀️👑
Beyoncé has included so many African artists on this project. She has used her platform to uplift many talented and black artists so they can share their gifts with the world. As a black girl, listening to this album brings me so much joy and happiness.
This album is definitely for the culture! If you not apart of the culture ✊🏾 then you wouldn’t get it.

Excellence, immaculate!
I feel like the five stars are Beyoncé's fans, and the haters are the one stars. I think it's pretty good. Not really as good as her old ones but, what can I say 🤷♀️? I would actually give it a 3.5
Sweet song
Beyoncé did a great job in this Album. Big shout out to everyone who worked on it. I’m so proud of Africans. Afro Beatz to the world 🤪
Overall the album isn't horrific but it isn’t great either. A few of the songs were okay but some parts were cringeee😂 like Beyoncé randomly singing in an African accent. I used to be a fan but I honestly couldn’t get through some parts of this album lol. I feel like she hasn’t learnt from her last flop “everything is love” and this isn’t much better.
This album is beautiful
The people that hate this album are white, no culture, no ethnicity, nothing, just boring white people, hence why then don’t understand the perfection this album has.
Definitely a great listen! A couple of tracks added to the workout playlist as well :)
Beyonce's overrated as hell. Her music isn’t that great and neither is her voice. Go listen to rock music instead, gross.
Love Beyoncé’s album!!
Overhyped, not that good.
The dialogue clips are good, Spirit is sub par. But soooo not worth purchasing unless you absolutely enjoy all the tracks. I didn’t.
This is so inspirational...there are too many words to explain how beautiful this work of art is.
Just beautiful. Beyoncé always challenges herself to do something different and she has done it again. Interesting, unique, and refreshing. I highly recommend this album to all.
Huge Beyoncé fan, but seriously this album is horrid. How it is 4 plus stars I’ll never know. Couple decent songs at the most.
Showcasing African culture along with their many talented artists, Beyoncé curates a masterful piece of art, truly a “Gift”!
Not feelimg it
It’s a jam 🔥🔥🔥
I love the refreshing songs
Only two tracks is worthy. And NO I’m not referring to “Spirit”
Beyoncé served on this album per usual and i am obsessed
Gotta love the queen, whatever she puts out is always a masterpiece ❤️❤️❤️
A pure, honest piece of art dedicated to POC. New sounds that will keep your head bopping. Amazing!
A great album! Beautiful messages, amazing vocals, great beats. Worth the listen. My personal favourites are "Bigger" and "Otherside."
Thank you Bey ❤️
The whole album is bomb. She incoporated audio from the movie and got actual African artists on the tracks with her. Can she ever go wrong with an album? Absolutley love it.
My God disappear already. Overrated artist. Gross.
I LOVE IT THE WAY SHE DOES
Boring and safe. A stagnant, over produced album.
SHE DELIVERED 👏 Best THING SINCE LEMONADE 🍋
Only BEYONCE!!!!
Ugh, she’s just the worst!
Buckle up peasants we going to Africa! She did it once again. BIGGER, MOOD 4 EVA & ALREADY are bops!
This is absolute garbage and anyone who says its good clearly follows the masses. Save your ears and dont buy
Yesss!!!! This album is beautiful her vocals are just 😍 my fav song would be Nile & otherside haters can stay mad
Can not fault this album. All the producers, artists & lyricists did an awesome job. Also a major credit to Beyoncé for curating and producing this and exposing the world more to Afro beats. Africa to the world ✊🏾
I love the songs and the fact that Beyonce is still Beyonce, and still producing good music 🎵 ❤️✌🏾
Best soundtrack ever
How does one return 'The Gift'? Just more tired rubbish from Beyonce
Rap will never be music
I’m obsessed with this
Omg. First they massacre the lion king with a half arsed remake that spent too much time on its CGI at the expense of the rest of the film. Then Beyoncé put out the horrific Spirit which is an abomination to music and should be wiped from existence! And now Beyoncé releases this monstrosity! I just do not understand this love of Beyoncé lately? Her last three albums have been awful, lack choruses and hooks and are all far too Americanized. She hasn’t had a real hit single since Run the World but everyone seems to be Beyoncé this, Beyoncé that. This album is god awful! What is it even? A solo album? A soundtrack album? Even it is confused by what it is and it shows! Boycott this garbage!
Incredible album
Best Album that causes my brain to give me anticipation to go to my aunts house
Did not expect this. This is a fantastic album definitely recommend songs WATER, BIGGER and MOOD 4 EVA👍👍
Love this album! Killer!
Queen B done it again 👑🦁
this album is incredible. there's a lot of fun songs on here and i love the inclusion of lesser known african artists. beyoncé really did her thing here, and she takes on the african styled beats perfectly, and i love how she represents her culture beautifully. highly recommended.

I love this album which I have listened time and time again and this is a first for me. I specially love the afro beats. Beyoncé gives exposure to African artists which is right as the Lion King is set in africa. My favourite song is brown skin, an homage to black women which I absolutely love.
Such a masterpiece.
Spoil a good thing?
SM for life
Blessed to hear this. The Queen never disappoints 🤩 my faves are Mood 4Eva, Bigger, Brown Skin Girl and Water but love it all💕

AMAZING
Tiwa Savage nailed it.
Poor,...disappointed She just put all streaming artist on an album She just love coins
She needs to go 🦁
As a massive fan, she can do no wrong anyway but this album is FIRE 🔥
Go away Beyoncé . What happened to the original score from lion king . This is rubbish
To all those people who are complaining that they want her to make music like she used to: she has evolved as an artist and she is creating music with more meaning and culture rather than just a “catchy tune”.
Another one of her vanity projects.
Sorry but this album is a stinker for 1 it's nothing in comparison to the original, as for Beyoncé What Happened, she used to be good, I prefer the original score not this knock off, the disney version is way better, End of.
Brown Skin Girl is something special!
haven’t enjoyed any of her stuff since lemonade
just a stunning masterpiece she is at her prime
A release that I was excited for, but listening to, just sounds like Beyoncé used The Lion King as a way to increase her sales. This album isn’t good, and the few songs that are good should’ve been included in the standard Lion King OST. Not your best work at all, bey!
Another cohesive and beautiful album from the Queen. It naturally follows on from everything is Love and the lion king interludes and African-inspired music are just fantastic. Beyoncé is never afraid to do new styles. She has the range. She bodies every genre.
What have you done to that album it’s absolutely rubbish just does not represent the Lion King at all
Is there anything that this woman can’t do!!! He vocals have blown me away on this album!! 👑🦁
I read a few toxic comments about this exceptional compilation and am surprised some people just can’t understand how music works, let alone the concept behind this album. I believe this compilation works perfectly well just the same as the African concept guiding the Lion King movie. Roc on Bey.
I love the Bigger track
It so amazing that shes used african artists this album is so good!!!!
Simply the best
Incredible Collaborations🔑
why would you try her, why would you bother? After 30 years in the game, Beyoncé once again evolves as an artist, shining a spotlight on Afrobeats and the culture of Africa. This companion album is a soundscape, and love letter to the motherland, and features several prominent African artists and producers. The album also features jay z, Pharrell, childish gambino, and Blue Ivy - a standout moment! It’s such a beautiful, coherent body of work. Bey and her team did a great job of producing and curating these tracks. The vocals, the harmonies, the beats, the features - everything is perfect and exceeds expectations. Thank you, Bey, for going above and beyond, once again.
beyoncé did what she had to do
Phenomenal album! How can we expect less!!!!🔥🔥🔥🦁
Nothing original or exciting
🔥
The album solidifies Beyoncé as a true artist by reinventing her sound while still staying genuine to herself. The piece feels cohesive and truly surpassed my expectations - absolutely in awe!
Stay away from my child hood memories how much more money you need Beyonce ? Peace 🇨🇴 🇮🇹
Write a letter to Africa if you want but the whole world don’t need to listen to it. Absolute 🤮 where is the old Beyoncé? Please let’s have her back. This stuff is just not interesting at all. bye Felicia
Beyoncé is a once in a lifetime artist and the way she uses her platform to showcase and highlight the people and cultures around her that don't see enough love is so powerful. Gloating, humble and vulnerable in equal measure, the album is an all-encompassing vision of optimism and self-worth to empower the future.
One of her best
For boring Beyonce
Haven’t liked anything Beyoncé since 2014 an this doesn’t help at all!! Nothing she releases these days sticks in the head! Sadly just a song that isn’t catchy an u can’t single along too them..
Bey this is incredible. You’ve slayed again!
Queeeeeeeen
This is good
Already is fire 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Disappointed I see Beyoncé has her name splashed across this so people will be dumb enough to buy it... You don’t hear any of these songs during the movie so whys it portraying a lion king album Shockingly bad , Beyoncé is overrated
This album is so clever. The songs basically take the story of the Lion King and applies it to real life situations, with incredible narration from the new film, and amazing production from Beyoncé. The music itself is so unbelievably refreshing, and pays homage to Africa in the best way possible. An absolute musical masterpiece, Beyoncé was not over reaching when she said this is sonic cinema and a soundscape. One of my all time favourite Beyoncé albums.
I loved this album, there’s not one song on it i didn’t like!
So lovely what Beyoncé has produced. The album is breathtaking. When she sings I’m shaking so much my hole is feeling so much joy.
Shes gone and done it again. A masterpiece, afro meets Beyonce and both slayed.
People saying this isn’t like the music of the original film obviously don’t understand it’s not claiming to be the soundtrack of the film. There is a separate album for that. This accompanies the new movie and is perfection. The different artists on this album would not normally have the opportunity to reach a mass audience, and I think each track is exceptional. I’m constantly listening to it at the moment and have enjoyed watching the videos that have been released far. There is not one track that I don’t like, which is unusual for an album because admit it, there’s usually one track you want to move on?
Love love love...
Very nice song
