Excited to listen to the entire album when released. The first track reminds me of the song “Awaken” from Yes’s 1977 “Going for the One” album.
Nice to hear some great prog-rock from Rick in 2020. Highly recommended!!!!
I've been listening to this while working out inside now that winter has set in. Although Wakeman is a contemporary of them, this album feels like a masterful blend of Banks, Emerson, Lorde, Argent, and of course, Wakemen himself from the golden years of prog rock. Really well done, engaging, and enjoyable.
This review is based on the full album that I bought from Rick’s webpage. This an all-instrumental prog rock album that Rick’s old fans will definitely enjoy. There is nothing really new or unexpected in the compositions, but they are very solid pieces even by Rick’s standard from his golden years that spanned from the Six Wives to 1984 in my opinion. Rick uses many of his old analog instruments and revisits some of his old musical ideas. There are parts that are reminiscent of Yes (the organ in the first piece is used as in Awaken), No Earthly Connection (one of the themes and orchestration of the second piece), Six Wives, etc. This is exactly what many old fans, like myself, have been asking for.
