iSkiatDV - Loved Lana From Day 1, But...Unfortunately, save for a couple songs, Chemtrails just doesn’t have the sound & vibe that’s kept me coming back. I can appreciate the attempt at something different, but compared to every album that came before (save for Violet) I can’t say I love this. Unfortunately, I don’t think it will grow on me. Maybe those who are just discovering Lana del Rey will enjoy it, but for all the waiting, I’m admittedly disappointed. And no. It isn’t about not ‘having enough singles & pop music.’ Even the best of artists have come out with some weak albums & this is Lana’s. Everything from Born to Die/Paradise, Ultraviolence, Honeymoon, Lust, NFR… it all worked. This is weaker on sound & vocals by far. I wanted to love it but I just don’t. Maybe the next will be better, but following Violet (ugh) & this, I admittedly will not be holding my breath. :(

The tracks are good and each tell a story but they blend together and there’s nothing that stands out significantly from the others. However, no such thing as a bad Lana album exists, so this is as welcome as any of her amazing artistry and writing. She really is a phenomenal writer and singer like no other. She’s her own genre and I can’t wait for everything else she has to come. One thing I don’t like is the obvious auto tune on some tracks. It’s clearly on purpose maybe even to make a point she doesn’t need it, perfection does not need that level of interference. Lana is a goddess.
