How can you not fell in love with Rosé’s voice and personality? Her raw vocals backed by an EDM-inspired beat just made On The Ground a global hit! While ‘Gone’, is as simple as they come, but is far from lacking when it comes to emotional weight. The whole song is built around strummed guitar chords. On paper, It sounds boring and uninspired BUT, with Rosé’s vocals on top of the real thing, it becomes a diamond in the rough. It might have been a long time coming, but ‘R’ was worth the wait. A no-frills testament that proves a powerful voice and good songwriting don’t need to be big or ostentatious to shine.

She sounded too robotic throughout the song, whoever engineered the song relied so much on autotune. Since this is her solo I expected they would showcase more of her vocal abilities.

This was not what I expected. I didn’t sign up for pop, i signed up for Kpop. Her voice was the only “ehh” thing about this.

I’m not a fan of blackpink and didn’t realize she was part of their group until I read the bio, she’s really good. I especially like On the Ground and I hope for more records from her soon. Makes me think I should go back and listen to the bands songs closer and try to spot her verses

Yeah, Gone isn’t too special but when I heard her sing it live for the first time, it made sense. The song isn’t anything new, but it matches her voice. It’s her style. It’s her (or at least the “her” that only the general public can see). I did want something a little better for the first release but I decided I liked it enough to download it. On top of that, I knew it was only meant to be a B-side for the main track of her new album. But On the Ground... was astonishingly disappointing to me. It was promising until the drop. What was that?? Why? I’m not sure who produced the song but I have a feeling Rose didn’t have much of a hand in it. The lyrics are nice... until you remember what company Blackpink is under and their terrible mistreatment of their stars. “I worked my whole life to get it right, just to realize everything I need is on the ground.” Rose knows herself that it’s not that simple to become a big kpop star. Being humble wasn’t what got her anywhere sadly. It was YG catering to a fandom who mostly isn’t interested in insisting on better, newer music because those people spend the most money on the group. A massive majority of the fandom would rather start fanwars whether it be with other fandoms or amongst themselves. That majority also loves to cyber bully the group for whatever reason they pull out of their butt tomorrow morning. And YG allows this all to happen. For that reason, I firmly believe Rose didn’t have much hand in writing the lyrics. And if she did, I take that last sentence back. I probably wouldn’t be as disappointed with the A-side if Rose wasn’t my favorite. Btw I’m not disappointed in her. I’m disappointed in YG. YG, you heard the cries of your current top-selling group’s fans for Rose’s debut album. For YEARS. And we 1. Only get 2 songs and 2. Got On the Ground for the main of those two. I’ve hated YG for years but I just want to see Rose thrive. She just might with how popular On the Ground is, but I feel like she would’ve been even bigger with a better quality song.

i have been stanning blackpink since 2017 so don’t think i’m an anti/hater, but it’s been years and their songs are always the same story. they are always about heartbreak, so i really didn’t want rosé’s debut to be the same. but once again, gone is about heartbreak which isn’t surprising to me anymore but i do like the acoustic nostalgia but brings me. reminds me of stay(which is underrated in their discography). however, on the ground is more about finding happiness and what it really means(how not fame and money give you purpose). i liked that chae branched out of that love pattern(even if it does have hints of heartbreak again). my only real problem with the song is the chorus. i didn’t really like it at first, but after a few listens, it grew on me a little. but overall, both songs are quite underwhelming. i think they both could’ve been better and less basic.

Just got to know about BLACKPINK Music about a week ago and I’m now total into their music, not typical Korean music. Especially, Rosé’s voice is so captivating. It carries so much feeling, emotion and her thoughts on each words, yet her voice is charming, calming and so nice on the ears. Getting addicted to her voice!

I LOVE THEM BOTH SO MUCH! On the ground is exciting and energetic and Gives me a little of 2000 vibes, gone is the complete opposite and is calming and slower. The teaser for Gone had a different guitar playing that hanged more in pitch but the one that plays in the song is much more shallower and doesn’t pitch up like the teaser. Kinda disappointed with that

I have been waiting & WAITING for Rosé solo debut. It would be a lie if I said I wasn’t disappointed but at the same time it would be a lie if I said if I was. Let me explain. Let’s start with the song she teased us with first. ‘Gone’. I’ve heard that Rosé took full charge in the writing process of both songs and they really show how strong her lyricism is. Gone is such a well written song with good production. I like it’s not like BP’s music. It shows who Rosé really is as an artist. On the ground has amazing heartfelt lyrics that show us another side of her. Her realisation and her gratitude. The production was amazing until....the beat drop. The beat drop I was expecting something smooth but it sounded like something that came out of an early 2000s American feel good movie. I hated it.

On the ground is an up beat and feel good song detailing the singers rise to fame and the hard work she put in as one of the members of the worlds biggest girl group and finding her happiness not in the grandeur of fame and fortune, but in the smaller more meaningful aspects of life. The track which has a poppy synth chorus and beautiful melodic verses showcase not only Rosés amazing vocal abilities but her lyrical talents as well. Gone is a beautiful chill pop song about love. The singer accompanied by a minimalist guitar based melody, weaves a tale of a lover that has left her heartbroken. The song which has beachy vibes and is perfectly suited to Rosés vocals. The mini album has been in the works for several years now as fans awaited the singers debut as a solo artist and has not disappointed. It’s a strong 10/10 for me and a mini album that I’ll will be playing for a long time to come.

I’m an ARMY, a Jisoo Biased and newly turned BLINK because I just started to find all of the members cute. About this song, it’s basic. Like a western pop song, but it’s actually really amazing. Like really really good. My favourite is ‘Gone’, from this album but the more I hear ‘On The Ground’ the more amazing it gets. Rosé’s voice, visual and accent is out of the box. She is literally the best vocalist in BlackPink, fight me but it is how it is. Her’s and Jisoo’s voice are really unique, I’ll never get tired of hearing them sing. I’m so proud of her for finally debuting as a solo artist too, after all those years of not being able to have her solo song, she’s finally done it. I’m so glad that I gave myself a chance to like ROSÈ too. I would like to thank Rosé and the staff for working so hard for us to hear these songs. What I can say is, that it is similar to western pop songs however, these songs will make history. Since it’s a full English song and has the same tone and beats similar to any normal western song, I’m confident Rosé will soon be the first female Korean soloist to have achieved the Billboard ranks.
