Absolutely disgusting album that worships race over our Heavenly Father who doesn’t favor black people over other races. Pretty Brown Skin is absolutely vile and offensive and in no way honor God or gives him glory. As a black person, the album’s target, shame on this group and all the collaborators. This not ok.

Amazing album ... it’s been on repeat. So good.

Although the album is called Juneteenth, most of the music is just basically praised and worship to God. There are a couple of songs that talk about race issues. However, it suggest that we come together to heal the issues of race. Ultimately we gave praise to God. What is more heartbreaking, Is the very foul reviews given, to people who have not listen to the whole album, and just responded to the title.

Shout out to Maverick City! I stream all their album, but this was an easy purchase.

I love Maverick City, however, this album is confusing to me. Who are we worshiping here? Culture or God? It can not be both. There is a way to speak on injustices in a way where the focus is not taken from God. At its core, racism and social injustices will exist in hearts where God does not dwell. So why not point people to Christ? Tell people to turn their hearts to Christ. Tell people that God heals brokenness. That God is a father to the orphan, that God is the redeemer. Proclaim the good news and stop trying to please the world.

Gives me knew gospel songs to sing! I don’t usually listen to a whole album, but I’ve been listening to it all on repeat. Very encouraging.

Kingdom Over Culture! Get Back To Worshiping God And Not Your Skin. I’m very disappointed in this Album.

The problem with plastic Christianity is that they can’t appreciate the truth and history of the Church. Worship music must relate to the times we are in. The White Church is dead. Get over it. Jesus isn’t White either. The music in this album has soul.

The truth is the same things keep repeating themselves. This album was birthed during the entire George Floyd debacle. So sorry if you feel offended by the truth. As we all one in christ and in the lord some people need to be reminded and some have to do the reminding. Our inspirations are birthed in the secret place due to level of insight, experiences, indepth knowledge of the word of God and relationship with the oneship of God in the person of the Holy spirit. So while at every point in time there are people worshipping even through their tears, there are some worhipping through storms and good times. The worship of God is about an initmate expereince with the love and person of the christ. Am sorry if the everyday reality of some people are too sensitive for your palate. Worship God in truth and in spirit.

There are a few songs I found to be inappropriate for a Christian album;however, there are many songs on here that are the complete opposite. I found Brown Skin to be appropriate for a inspirational album not a Christian one. It is my absolute least favorite song given that the other songs weren’t geared towards that Black Live Matter Movement. I wouldn’t say I am disappointed, but I do find it to not fit with the rest of the album.

This album is so good. I love the worship aspect and the uplifting of black people on the second side of this record. Thank you Mav for doing what the Church is called to do… bring and teach about unity and respect for all races (most importantly black ppl as well). :-)

I found this album to be a beautiful piece of art. It’s two sides like old school tapes and side a is all worship while side b is purely ministering to Black brothers and sisters and the plight faced on American soil due to the sinful nature of mankind and racism. In order to miss that message and intentionality, one has to work very hard.
