For the music and for a voice of reason
funny how people who voted for a celebrity to be president (twice for some) get upset about a musician expressing their political views and suggest that said musician "stay in their lane" anyways...sound quality on this record is excellent a s usual from this group. love the theme as well.
There is not a more overrated singer out there than Jason. Jingles for Charmin tissue is more creative than this.
Thought I’d only be downloading a track or two but it’s sucking me in song by song.
If you don’t like Jason’s politics, please quit buying his concert tickets so I don’t have to sit in an obstructed view seat next time. That aside, these selections are exquisitely produced and presented here. They also rock live. Honeysuckle Blue needs to be a set list staple for 400 Unit shows going forward. Buy it, enjoy it, and rather than tell an artist to stop expressing himself, maybe just shut yo-self up.
The unvaxxed will have trouble doing anything…shows, travel, events. Get Vaxxed! Hats off to Jason and others for requiring vax. I’m sure the album will be awesome like all the previous.
Another hit for Jason, proud to be a fan of his.
Get your shots you babies
Irrespective of party, being a cheerleader for politicians doesn’t make you look intelligent. Nice music as usual, well performed, but do you really want to tie your reputation to the world’s oldest profession? It merely communicates naivety or stridency, neither of which is particularly impressive.
Love the guy’s music and from the early release, this sounds like another great release from Jason but he gets minus 1 star for pushing his political opinions on fans. I am not sure why these guys that have major issues, he is a raging alcohol and drug user, think we want to take their astute advise on politics??? Just do what your good at and leave politics to people that have expertise in that arena. What do they say “Stay in your lane dude”!
I’m a big big fan of this great man. It’s really gross to see people with such anger toward his politics, take it out on rating a record. I, on the other hand..am very appreciative of his hard work and thoughtfulness given to each track. He’s made a beautiful record here, all of these songs are UNIQUE AND BEAUTIFUL. Thank you, Jason..for loving music, and incorporating it into the love you have for your country and it’s people.
He could sing the alphabet and I would buy it. A national treasure who is making the habit of elevating and shining the spot light on others. True talent and a heart of gold, The first song released sounds great!
Love Jason Isbell, but not diggin this album.
Enough said
You'll notice they criticize his songwriting (it's a cover album), call him an addict (he's been sober several years now), tell him to "stay in his lane" re: politics/music (only politicians get to have political opinions? No opinions shared here anyway, outside of the album title) or that the album is uncreative (again, covers, of incredible artists at that)... Listen to Mr. Isbell and the 400 Unit harness Otis Redding at his best in their cover of "I've been lovin' you too long" once, and any doubts as to the quality of the album or musicianship should be cleared up rather quickly. As good as their word re: making the album, and how...
This is an awesome album of covers of songs by Georgia artists. Isbell said he would do this album of both Georgia Senate seats turned blue, which they did. All proceeds go to a great cause, too.
I can’t get enough of this album. Some songs were my favorites at first listen (Kid Fears, Driver 8) and others grew on me as I listened (Reverse). Jason Isbell and friends do an amazing job paying tribute to Georgia artists.
Isbell can do it all—write, play and sing. He takes a break from writing on this album of covers of songs by Georgia artists, including REM, Gladys Knight and Otis Redding. Isbell and guests put their own mark on the songs and it works! (The 1-star reviews are definitely against Isbell’s politics, not the music. I agree with Isbell’s views, but if the album sucked I’d say so. You just don’t eff with REM and Otis. But Isbell does a great job and honors the original artists.
Take it from a lifelong Isbell fan. Set aside the fact that his love for attention skyrocketed during the Covid lockdown. As shown by him going Instagram live every 20 minutes and the fact that he will do anything to get the trendiness Attention these days, this is a boredom Covid release. A let’s force something in the studio, release. Do not buy this…stream it somewhere because I promise you’ll only listen to each song once
There are a bunch of 1 star ratings for this album because they don’t like his politics??? We have lost our ever loving minds if we have too much time on our hands and hate in our hearts to give music ratings based on the vote someone casts. My advice is to invite a friend over, sit out by the fire pit with your beverage of choice on a nice fall night and enjoy this music the way you would if you could just put everything else aside and be a human. No reason to stress yourself out over how Jason fills out his ballot.
I used to liked your music a lot ! You seem to have a great perspective on song writing until now ? Thx for the memories Jason ! You came to my town and I thought wow Jason Isbell in downtown Harrisburg. Missed it !
Sad to see all these snowflakes give bogus reviews because they don’t agree with Mr Isbell. The cover of Sometimes Salvation is worth admission alone. Well done, folks.
A Isbell cd's strength lies in superior songwriting.
Love the breadth of the music and the fantastic supporting cast. Brandi Carlisle on “Kid Fears” is an A+! Well worth the money.
Yet another amazing album by Jason Isbell and crew. Incredible covers of Georgia artists supporting important causes. And unlike the two-time loser who fleeced his suckers with obvious nonsense and lies like Mexico is gonna pay for the wall, lol, Jason is the real deal with this album—this is a promise kept.
Thanks for being willing to go out on a limb. Thanks also for following through and getting this done- it’s very enjoyable and much appreciated.
This is a great album. Jason Isbell is a great artist and the collaborations on this album are incredible. This is the perfect album for a long road trip!! A work of art!!
bad rehash
What a great selection of songs, musicians and performances. Thanks Jason!
Fantastic, loving tribute to GA’s greatest, and some unsung heroes as well.
…eight sold out shows at the historic ryman auditorium in Nashville starting this Friday night…quit whining…don’t go,don’t listen don’t buy the music…easier for the rest of us to get in….maybe y’all should listen to more kid rock or John rich….their rants seem more in line with your political perspectives…400 unit is MAGA!…
From a true voice of county music honoring rock, alternative independent, and folk that comes from the south. The epitome of Better South in a singer songwriter.
Jason's vocals have always been strong, but my goodness his singing is incredible on this album. It's clearly something he's been working on, and it shows.
Brutal versions of The Allmans and Black Crowes songs. Liz Reed is about the rhythm section, Dicky and Duane tell a building story while the rhythm section burn it down. Chris Robinson may be the best front man of the last 35 years, he has soul and it can't be taught or faked. Painful
