Can't explain how John Williams does it! Another classic! Not as iconic or epic as Star Wars or jaws but subtle themes and melodies that are very enjoyable! Prologue, You Are The Pan, and Presenting The Hook are my favorites! You can imagine the movie in your head as you listen to this! A great addition to my John Williams collection!!
HOOK is my favorite film, and this soundtrack captures everything from the movie. John Williams is a genius. I always loved the little tune played when he shows up late to Jack's game (Banning Back Home). It brings a smile to my face seeing that this has a 5 Star Rating. IT DOESN'T DESERVE ANYTHING LOWER!!
Every second crackles with wit and wonder. Too bad that the film it accompanies is such milquetoast idiocy.
I love the score to Hook, it is not just one of Williams’ best scores, it is easily the best thing about the movie, single-handedly elevating it into something enjoyable to sit through. But this soundtrack album feels so horribly incomplete without the End Titles Medley. I can’t believe it was left off of this soundtrack! Docking this thing a star because of it.
John Williams has written very good songs but the simply best of his work was done in this movie. My favorite would have to be 'You are the Pan'
This music is absolutely amazing. The first time i listened to it, I put it on as background music and ended up not doing what I was originally doing just so I could listen to it. This movie was a big part of my childhood, and this music captures the movie so well. Definatley worth the money.
This is deffinatly one of the most wonderful and enchanting movies of all time. You fall in love with all of the characters. I think it is one of Robin Williams' best roles that he has ever played. Julia Roberts does a magnificent job as Tink. I must haved watched this movie at least a hundred times!! =)
“Lie? Me? Ha ha ha! Never! The truth is far too much fun!” That truth being that John Williams is the greatest film composer of all time and his score for Hook is one of the best scores of the 90s, the others being Jurassic Park and Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace. “Banning Back Home”, “Remembering Childhood”, and “The Ultimate War” are just three of the BEST tracks in the album. I just hope they release a 30th anniversary extended edition soundtrack in 2021! There is just so much beautiful music in this movie!
I Think This Album Is A John Williams Masterpiece. My Only Complaint Is The Amount Left OFF The Album.Lets Hope For A Complete Release One Day....
This is my childhood. Never realized how much I needed the soundtrack until I found it on here. Absolutely Wonderful!
it had great piano parts and oRchestra parts and so i thought it was good
Hook my not be one of Spielbergs most well received films (I still love it) but the John Williams score deserves to be mentioned along with Star Wars, Jaws, Superman, Raiders, ET etc...as a true masterpiece. The man rarely ever disappoints. I can't say a single score of his truly disappointed me. Hook is one of his most listenable scores. It's enchanting, charming, whimsical, adventurous....this is Williams having blast.
John Williams has expanded the minds of almost every person in the US. Just listen... I remember as a kid loving this music... and I know why now. John Williams is possibly the best in the business. JUST LOOK AT HIS OTHER MOVIES. I have bought all the ones on iTunes and am sending out for the others not on here. Jaws, All Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Hook, Home Alone etc. JUST AMAZING
By far one of the best soundtracks to any movie. John Williams has established himself as one of, if not the greatest composer and writer of movie soundtracks of all time. He delivers in full for Hook and will not disappoint any avid Williams fan. Beautiful.
One of John William’s best scores! Beautiful and heroic melodies. A masterpiece!
The title says it all.
This was such a beloved movie to me growing up. I remember seeing it as a child. I remember wanting to be one of the Lost Boys and travel to Neverland. This score only brings back those memories for me of the sweetest, happiest part of all our lives, Childhood.
This is classic John Williams. Great mix of battle themes, lyrical pieces, and lighter fare. The piano solos in cues two and three are charmingly reminiscent of Williams' earlier jazz days. The main theme, stated in full force in the prologue, slowly creeps into the score as Banning becomes more and more immensed in his adventure, and finally returns to its full strength for "The Ultimate War." The flying theme, a variant of the main theme, is especially beautiful on the final cue, "Farewell Neverland." Swashbuckling, charming, and definitely Williams!
I know this is really wierd but when i first heard just the music for Hook (My favorite movie of all time!) i cried while listening to "remembering childhood". My dream is to fly and that song would be the song i would want to hear if i could fly through the sky!
⬆️🙌🏽👌🏽👍🏽
I can see this score being a quitessential part of the history of film scores. John Williams creates a bountiful amount of themes here, and they represent what is happening on screen in the film perfectly. Standouts (for me) are "Hook-Napped" (which some argue was the beginning of "Hedwig's Theme" from Harry Potter), "Remembering Childhood", "You are the Pan" (which contains a beautiful flute solo), and "Farewell Neverland". As you come to the end of this score, you will find yourself wishing for more. I do.
It's actually amazing to me that age-old scores like Hook stand the test of time and can be compared favorably to contemporary scores of today. The writing is excellent and the mix is superb. Recommended!
whenever i hear them i feel like i am there in neverland! watch the movie too it is the best!!!
Perhaps one of the only soundtracks where john Williams repeating character themes didnt annoy (minus star wars and memoirs of a geisha). Too bad they left out some of the most memorable songs. Where is the final fight when hook gets swallowed? They don't even have the end credits mash-up. Still will never review this less than 5 stars.
I remember watching this movie when I was 2 years old with my older brother. The movie and soundtrack brings back alot of Spectacular memories of my youth. This movie and soundtrack is great for kids and adults. Got to love the '90's.
Nice work John
This is truly a beautiful soundtrack. John William never failed to astound and move me with his music. He is the Beethoven of our generation.
Great Music for any lover of Movie Scores. Williams delivers another timeless score. Buy this album on sight.
AMAZING...even though Harry Potter kinda sorta sounds the same
And the soundtrack is nothing short of incredible -- it's John Williams, for goodness sake!!! :D
THIS IS A GOOD ALBUM.BUY IT.
This movie has beautiful music. Absolute classics
amazing movie, amazing album, worth you money.
Genius. This music has been a part of my childhood, and now it is a part of my child's. We especially love the lullabye "When You're Alone"; the actress sounds so sweet and pure. John Williams does not disappoint.
Hook is my favorite movie and this album is the pure music from that movie! You Are The Pan would have to be my favorite Song. You Must Buy This ALBUM!!!!!
