A mixture of charming classical music with a flair of native american mix!
I just bought the Ludlows, which is so beautiful..After listening to it NON stop, I have decided to come back and buy the whole soundtrack. Nothing is better than listening to this music while driving in the country. It doesn't compare to Montana scenery in the movie, but it still is awesome.
Legends of the Fall has always been one of my absolute favorite films and scores, and it resonates even more now after the untimely and tragic death of its composer, James Horner. How sad it is that we'll never hear anymore gorgeous, haunting, and emotional scores from him. In addition to Legends, there is Titanic and Braveheart; all three of those scores helped make the movies the successes they were and still are. I know I wouldn't have cried as much as I did during those three cinematic masterpieces, were it not for Horner's brilliant accompanying scores. He's the stuff of legends. Rest in peace, Mr. Horner.

this album is some of Horner's finest work. even if you didn't like the movie, or haven't even seen it, this music will make you absolutely in love with it. The Ludlows is simply amazing.
I LOVED this movie when it came out in 1994 and immediately bought the soundtrack. I have gone through several cassette tapes and cds because I just listened to it SO much. It is poignant and noble. Lovely and dangerous. I love everything about it! and now, well, I know every note. Thank heavens for Ipods so I can stop buying it. Of course, there is always a cd on hand just in case! a.m.a.z.i.n.g.
I admit, I've never seen this movie and I originally heard "The Ludlows" in a Stargate SG-1 fanmade music video. It was absolutely stunning. I immediately bought the entire soundtrack on iTunes, and it really is that good. I would say that "The Ludlows" is arguably the best piece of instrumental music that I have ever heard. If you don't want to spend the money on the whole soundtrack, do yourself a favor and buy The Ludlows. It is beyond moving. It's the best piece of instrumental music I've ever heard.

This is by far the most beautiful and haunting music ever. This movie is my husband, daughter and my favorite movie and music so when she walked down the isle at her wedding a string quartet played the "the wedding" for the bridesmaids to walk down and she walked down to "the ludlows". It was absolutely beautiful and perfect music.
This soundtrack is the most magnificent work of art I've ever witnessed. James Horner is an impeccable artist. I wouldn't doubt it if his penis was made of solid gold. I credit this soundtrack to ever single one of my accomplishments on this earth. I killed an Alaskan grizzly this past summer with a knife (extremely similar to the knife Tristan uses in the movie to fight the bear) and the whole time I was listening to "revenge" from this soundtrack. I might Also add, that Alaskan grizzly's head is now mounted on my wall.
This music is beautiful ! It's just wonderful to listen to takes you to another place and time. You can really feel the music within you.
See the movie (if you haven't already 100 times--it's an epic) and then get this soundtrack... images from the movie become your own life story as this music truly sets the stage for every imaginable human emotion. Breathtaking and a necessary addition to your library.

The music is so beautiful and perfectly fits this lovely movie. No wonder James Horner is one of my favorite composers. I only wish they included Samuel (Henry Thomas) singing Twilight and Mist.
This is my all time favorite movie and soundtrack! When I got married in 1996, my bridesmaids walked down the aisle to the Ludlows (Twilight and Mist). That song to this day brings me so much happiness!

Seriously. Number 1 all-time for me....and not many people seem to know about it.
Orchestrally brilliant, this is not a soundtrack that needs a viewing of the movie to love. With the exception of a few tracks that rely on electronic composition, this is highly both memorable and addictive without a cinematic viewing; I heard the soundtrack and loved it before I saw the film. It's utterly haunting, beautiful, overpowering, and yet deconstructive all at once; I guarantee you'll think of moments of either blissful/riveting emotion from your life if you're old enough, or wish for those moments to come if you're not there yet. Most all other reviews promote "The Ludlows", and for very good reason. But don't turn your back on "The Wedding", which reaches the clouds in its virtues to make you ascend with it.
Every track on this cd is haunting and beautiful. The score is one of Horner's finest!
I grew up with the movie and I'm seriously considering having the procession walk down the aisle to the Ludlows at my wedding, maybe I'm crazy but it's been my dream since the proposal.
Not only did the movie have spectacular scenery (including Brad Pitt) listening to the soundtrack while driving in concrete jungle traffic helped me feel more relaxed imagining the movie scenes of the Montana mountains and big open skies. Such beautiful music!
This soundtrack is absolutely amazing..... particularly "The Ludlows." That track is the best on the whole album (and is as pretty as Henry Thomas and Brad PItt are in the movie). A must-have score for movie fans everywhere!!! I highly recommend it!!!!
Some of the most beautiful classical music I've ever heard period! The Lodlows takes the crown but the entire soundtrack is epic!

The music just adds to the story I love this movie. This is brad Pitt at possibly his best performance. I love the story line and how it stays with you even after you finish watching the movie. You feel like u know the characters personally. I teared up when Samuel died and isabelle and Susannah everyone Tristan loved seemed to just get hurt in some way but that just adds to it being an epic movie. I find myself humming The Ludlows to myself all the time. Without doubt that is the most beautiful piece in the movie and on the album. I love it!! Outstanding movie and musical score!! Makes me want to be back out west very soon and horseback riding across the plains and mountains too!! The music is enough to bring the images of Montana to you when you listen to it. Amazing!!
I am a big movie score buff, and James Horner is at the top of my list. This soundtrack is by far my most favorite of all time! It's an incredible movie, and incredile story, and an incredile soundtrack. If you like movie scores, you cant go wrong with this one.

Once again director Edward Zwick and composer James Horner have delivered a truly phenominal spectacle. I caught myself sitting on my couch for five minutes after the credits had rolled through. The same thing had happened to me when i first saw "Glory" in 1989. If you liked this film and/or the score, buy the soundtrack to "Glory" as well as the film.
