I love it all!!!! Julie Andrews is absolutely amazing and so is the whole cast.
I'm a young theater fan. I haven't explored it very deeply yet. What I have done is bought Stephen Soundhiem's lyric book. He noted that My Fair Lady was the most enjoyable musical he ever saw. I hadn't looked into My Fair Lady, but when I did, I saw why. The score, the lyrics, the singers, it's all brilliant. Highly recommended.

No offense to Julie Andrews (normally i love her) but her cockney accent is awful. Everything is awful. This is just NOT the kind of role she is cut out for. Where are the Mary Poppins and Frauline Maria that we all know and love? THAT is the real Julie Andrews! I just don't like her as Eliza Doolittle- her preformance is simply awkward and unenjoyable. I reccommend the movie soundtrack with Audrey Hepburn and Marni Nixon singing. Sorry, but they're ALOT better. Like rediculously better.
Julie did such an incredible job as Eliza on stage both in London and New York, that when she was passed over for the role on the big screen, the Academy retaliated by snubbing Audrey Hepburn and denying her even an Oscar nomination. Julie's flawless voice will never be duplicated, nor outdone.
I think she was 21 when this was recorded because she was 19 when she 1st starred on Broadway in The Boy Friend ((: I'm so glad they recorded the original cast ! Julie Andrews... you're truly MAGNIFICENT!!
I used to play this record on my fisher price record player and dance around my bedroom when I was little! Every little girl should get the same chance! I still love it as a 35-year old!
This is absolutely the definitive recording of "My Fair Lady". Listen as Rex Harrison comes in too early on a line in "You Did It". It's absolutley excellent!
This album is incredible! Why can't they write musicals like this anymore? Julie Andrews is unmatched in both singing and acting, and Rex Harrison is good too. There's so much emotion & it feels so real... WOULDN"T IT BE LOVERLY (9/10) WITH A LITTLE BIT OF LUCK (7/10) JUST YOU WAIT (10/10) I COULD HAVE DANCED ALL NIGHT (8/10) SHOW ME (8/10) WITHOUT YOU (8/10) All of these songs are great... I listen to them over and over again! Definitely worth $9.99! It deserves more than 5 stars!
i am only 19 years old, but i have loved music all my life. i grew up watching all of julie's GREAT movies and musicals. i also love "my fair lady". i was shocked when i learned that julie(who in my opinion, has the BEST voice ever to grace film and stage.) was passed up for the movie role. i was absolutely THRILLED when i found this on itunes! julie does an absolutely amazing job. it's so much better than audrey hepburn's performance. did you know that they actually had to hire a professional singer to sing for the movie? this soundtrack has never left my ipod. BUY IT! YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED!
Okay, first lets set one thing straight. Julie Andrews is the finest singer/actor/person to EVER grace film and stage. Therefore, she is the ultimate Eliza. Everytime I listen to I Could Have Danced All Night and she hits the big note at the end.... I get chills that are indescribable. Her passion with this role is unlike any other actress.... ever. Also, she is so beautiful.... you can just imagine how she stopped the show dead in the Ball Gown at first act intermission. Julie Andrews and Rex Harrison made the perfect onstage pair for this show... there will NEVER be anything better then this. I thank Julie for being such an inspiration to so many young actresses, including myself, and giving the world such a gift by being the original Eliza. I wish I could give this CD 10 million stars, but they only allow me five so I give it a whole hearted five stars. THIS CD IS LOVERLY IN EVERY WAY!!!!!!!!

People don't realize how breathtakingly talented Julie Andrews is. She will always be one of my idols. Right now i'm doing the play, My Fair Lady. So, I used this soundtrack to help me and she's amazing. I think she should have been Eliza in the movie.
I feel like I should correct one point I keep seeing in these reviews. When Julie was in My Fair Lady in Broadway, she wasn't 15-16. She was actually 21. And I adore this album, though Julie, Rex, and Stanley haven't completely found the characters yet like they have in the London album. (I always say, if you wanna know how the songs are sung, listen to the Broadway album. If you wanna hear the characters, go to London. [And saying Rex is better here because he songs more is a bit idiotic. Singing = Emotion in musicals, and Higgins is an emotionless character.])
well there is nothing much I could say to convince you to get it if your mind is made up not to and you don't like these sort of things....HOwever it is VERY good. I was delighted to hear Julie and know she was the original...just a bit of trivia...did you know that Audrey Hepburn even told Julie Andrews she should have got the role? By the way...only 16.
This is a really good album. However, it was really different listening to Julie Andrews singing instead of Marni Nixon. Still.....Julie Andrews was AMAZING!!!! I would totally buy this soundtrack

Look out. I bought this album, but half the songs are missing, the Playback isn't there at all, and "Wouldn't it be loverly" is on there twice. DON'T BUY THIS VERSION UNTIL iTunes fixes it!!!

This is the first thing I bought for my iPod, and I absolutely adore it. I can somehow never get "I COuld Have Danced All Night" out of my head. It and all the other songs are catchy and witty. Julie Andrews, my favorite singer, makes such a beautiful performance, and her cockney accent is much better than Marni Nixon's in the movie. Rex Harrison does a much better job in the play than in the movie. Both he and Stanley Holloway sing more. Although the orchestrations are better in the movie, the sound quality is better here and the leads are much stronger. I HIGHLY recommend this for any fan of musicals, Julie Andrews, or oldies.
The mix on this is disappointing. The ending of one song and the beginning of the next blend together which is NOT what the original album does. Sometimes when the two songs blend, it's very abrupt, leaving the listener with a disjointed feeling. I wouldn't recommend purchasing this.
This is fantastic!!!! And to those of you who thought she should have been in the movie think about it this way: If she had been Eliza in the movie she wouldn't have been in Mary Poppins which has a direct connection to her being in The Sound of Music!!!!
This is quite possibly the best soundtrack ever made. Julie Andrews IS Eliza!!! No offense to Marni Nixon and Audrey Hepburn, who were quite good together as Eliza in the movie (Marni dubbed Audrey's singing voice), I think Julie should have played her. Julie Andrews and Rex Harrison are FABULOUS together!
To be honest, I had never known anything about this play until my high school said we were doing it this year (I'm Alfie Doolittle =P) and I fell in love with immediately. The songs range from abso-bloomin-lutely incredible ("Wouldn't It..." "On The Street..." "Get Me to the Church...") to downright silly but fun ("With A Little..." "The Rain.." "You Did It") to just plain odd ("Ascot Gavotte"). The performances on this soundtrack are phenomenal and they capture the spirit of the play perfectly.

I truly loved this version of My Fair Lady with Julie Andrews especially "I Could Have Danced All Night." You should definately buy this one! If you liked this one, you should also buy "My Fair Lady (Original London Cast Recording)" It stars Julie Andrews and Rex Harrison. It is different though. I was recorded in Stereo format and sounds much better because all the stars got "comfortable with their roles." Ms. Andrews said in her personal memoir that she prefers The London Cast Recording to the Original. I love both. this is just a suggestion.
