I don’t really understand this desire by Blackground to slap guest / featured vocals on top of Aaliyah’s unreleased music. They were trying it back when they dropped “Enough Said” with Drake (production was solid, but I disliked Drake’s vocals), and now this. While I love The Weeknd and don’t dislike this track, I feel efforts should be made to release her music as free of guest vocals as possible, unless the material that remains is that unfinished — in which case I question whether it should be released at all. IF THERE HAS TO BE GUEST VOCALS ADDED, I think it only fitting to feature up-and-coming black women that could use the boost of being on an Aaliyah track. I feel like that would be most fitting for Aaliyah’s legacy, that her music continues to pave the way for other women to follow in her footsteps. I also think Timbaland, Missy Elliott, and the producers she worked with in life should largely be the ones overseeing and handling the production of these unreleased tracks. Aaliyah’s fans are fiercely protective of her legacy, and rightly so. I just wish the Hankersons and Blackground would actually bother to listen more to them. I feel like following the suggestions I’ve put forth would be a great start to ensuring there is peace surrounding future releases…not to mention finally brokering peace between themselves and her mother and brother.

And we DON’T either. ¡BASURA!

Posthumous albums are money traps and have nothing to do with the artist’s legacy and creative talents and choices. And the collaborators should know better as artists themselves. One day money won’t be enough when this planet falls down around us and we will all need to make decisions based on need, integrity, decency and kindness.

I’m not gonna pick apart little things the lyrics are deep beautiful and song as a solid song you play over n over the vocal reminds me of AANBAN era but stronger n more confident these goals are not 10,15 years old they’re 19-20 years old anyone who complains must want something sort of the savior himself coming. I love the song and her vocal delivery I will forever associate this song with me graduating today from medical school 💙

It has the makings of a good song & she has a gorgeous voice but her vocals seem like a very rough cut. The mixing isn’t the best. It could be a great song if this was Tinashe and The Weeknd. I love Aaliyah, but trying to make good songs from scraps is too hard when the artist isn’t here to sing.

Although the quality of her voice isn’t the best , this song still sounds like her organically not like the drake or Chris brown assisted tracks that came out years ago. It’s missing a little bass line but I understand since this is a raw track it would overpower Aaliyah’s voice. I’m excited for what may come forth with the upcoming project. This song really has strong potential. I hope the promo and video can bring it more hype.

As someone who loves R&B but not the rap that passes for it today, I really love this song. It’s been getting mixed reviews, but I think it’s solemn, modern and with great lyrics. It sounds like something Aaliyah would have released if she were still here. A gem in a sea of mediocrity.

Song is great and they sound nice together but whoever mixed her vocals needs to be fired. Abel sounds very clear and Aaliyah sounds like she’s singing down the hall in a room with the door closed. They should take down the song, FIX IT, and re-release

So, I’m still giving this a 5 because it’s Babygirl and The Weeknd is koo but Blackground needed to do Babygirl better with the mixing or the engineer, I should say, needed to do better! I just want Aaliyah to reign in the top like she deserves. Update — So they fixed it up but I’m still disappointed because this could have debuted much higher had they did Aaliyah right. I hate Barry Hankerson!

I believe the production could have been better. I feel like her vocals weren’t clearly produced (what happened to the high tech equipment, I mean we’re in 2021/22?!!) It’s very nostalgia hearing her sing something different other than what’s been released during her lifetime. I give this 6/10 stars. Rest in Power Aaliyah ♥️
