"Rain" is a song by American singer Madonna from her fifth studio album Erotica (1992). The song was released on August 5, 1993 by Maverick Records as the album's fifth single internationally and the fourth single in North America. It was later included on her ballad compilation album Something to Remember (1995). The song was written and produced by Madonna and Shep Pettibone. A pop and R&B ballad with influences from trip hop and new-age music, "Rain" features a more "friendly" composition than the other singles released from the album. Lyrically the song likens rain to the empowering effect of love, and as with water's ability to clean and wash away pain. Like the other songs on Erotica, sexual contact is also a possible interpretation of the song. An EP was released for Japanese and Australian territories which contains remix and a dub of "Goodbye To Innocence" titled "Up Down Suite"

Just like the retarded Kylie fan commenting on every new release on here from Madonna's incredible back catalogue... sweetie, there is a reason Madonna is the UK's biggest selling female artist and not Kylie, its because Madonna is a true artist in every sense of the word. Shes credible, drips it, and she's also a proper LGBT ally. Not like the fraud from down under whos done nothing but keep silent for 30 years. Why does she continually keep knocking out rehashed EPs of long forgotten very old songs that people didn’t care for the first time around. I appreciate that her ‘career’ is at the lowest point it’s ever been at due to years of massively declining sales and a VERY aged fanbase that also seem to have dumped her but seriously churning out EPs from decades ago is not going to help.

Rain is water droplets that have condensed from atmospheric water vapor and then fall under gravity. Rain is a major component of the water cycle and is responsible for depositing most of the fresh water on the Earth. It provides water for hydroelectric power plants, crop irrigation, and suitable conditions for many types of ecosystems. The major cause of rain production is moisture moving along three-dimensional zones of temperature and moisture contrasts known as weather fronts. If enough moisture and upward motion is present, precipitation falls from convective clouds (those with strong upward vertical motion) such as cumulonimbus (thunder clouds) which can organize into narrow rainbands. In mountainous areas, heavy precipitation is possible where upslope flow is maximized within windward sides of the terrain at elevation which forces moist air to condense and fall out as rainfall along the sides of mountains. On the leeward side of mountains, desert climates can exist due to the dry air caused by downslope flow which causes heating and drying of the air mass. The movement of the monsoon trough, or Intertropical Convergence Zone, brings rainy seasons to savannah climes. The urban heat island effect leads to increased rainfall, both in amounts and intensity, downwind of cities. Global warming is also causing changes in the precipitation pattern, including wetter conditions across eastern North America and drier conditions in the tropics. Antarctica is the driest continent. The globally averaged annual precipitation over land is 715 mm (28.1 in), but over the whole Earth, it is much higher at 990 mm (39 in). Climate classification systems such as the Köppen classification system use average annual rainfall to help differentiate between differing climate regimes. Rainfall is measured using rain gauges. Rainfall amounts can be estimated by weather radar.
