This soundtrack goes exactly to the movie. I can sit back while listening to this music and think i am in France. It is tasteful and makes me yern for some "chocolat". I would love to have the movie on my iPod. it truly is sinfuly delicious =)
This is a fantastic movie with a few fun songs ala Django. Unfortunately, the song that Johnny Depp plays has not been included in this album and it is the one I most wanted. Too bad. I'll just have to watch the movie again.

The three songs Jonny Depp plays are Minor Swing & Caravan which are both on the soundtrack. The third song is "They're Red Hot", all three songs are Produced and Arranged by Bob Last & Malcolm Ross and the Guitars Johnny Depp & Malcolm Ross
Two of the three songs Johnny Depp plays on are included. Minor Swing and Caravan. I forgot the name of the third song, but it is not included. Even though Johnny does not have a major role in this movie, but when he does show up, he adds so much. Johnny does play guitar on this cd and others, look them up, some of them are very good.
Chocolat is a fanastic movie! I was completely in love with the whole thing and the music made it 10xs better! All of the songs are fanastic and haunting! Johhny Depp is absolutely fabulous! This soundtrack is definately worth it!
This CD is fabulous. I love the music and it is different! It is nice to hear unusual music sometimes and Rachel Portman nails it. The movie is great also!

Seriously, by listening to this album. I just want to dance my way through my kitchen baking or just holding my grandmas hands and dance with her. this album is purely magical.
This is one of my favorite soundtracks! :) Magical and haunting, the "Chocolat" score is reminiscent of Rachel Portman's "Emma," but with more fairytale-like tones. It blends a few different musical styles which makes it unique and refreshing, unlike many of the "cookie cutter" scores that are found in movies today. My favorite tracks are "main titles," "passage of time," and "ashes to the wind/roux returns."
This movie was released more than 8 years ago, and it still remains one of my most favorite soundtracks ever! Such whimsical, mysterious, and quizzical tunes make up the soundtracks, and it would definitely NOT be a waste of your money to buy it! Absolute thumbs up!
The music on this album will give you chills! The huanting cry of the wind pipes masterfully inter twined with the classic, and spanish guitars will leave you speachless as you listen to a soundtrack that is as delicious as the movies itself. In many cases the movie makes the soundtrack. Portman can rest easy because, once again, her soundtrack made the movie.
this soundtrack mirrors the movie exactly. it has a beautifully clever feel to the entire score. portman blended each character into the score and the end result is fantastic.
Love Rachel Portman's fresh, staccato take on Django Reinhardt's classic "Minor Swing." but they left out the song that is similar to it and appears to be played by Johnny Depp during the movie (dancing and dessert served after the chocolat dinner party about four fifth's of the way through the movie). If you like the Gypsy Swing sound suggest you try Novamenco "Flight to Paradise" or the old standards Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli.
i love this soundtrack! rachel totally got all the characters their own song that goes perfectly with them! & she made the movie so magical with her songs put in there! & i can't believe that she got johnny depp to play a little bit of guitar in some of the songs!! just all around awesome!!
in my ballet class, we have to do a dance to the opening titles song. its really fun. the song is really bueatiful, and I luv how it goes from all calm to all active and stuff! the only problem is, ive never seen the play. has anybody else? =3

I just saw this film and i was quite impressed on the story. Juliette Binoche, Johnny Depp, and Judi Dench all star in this comedic romantic flick about a single mother who moves to a resolute town in France and opens up a chocolate shop. At first, the villagers cross their fingers in disgust, but once the time passes and the wind blows, the villagers adapt to the shop's presence and become curious about its purpose. After having a decadent hot chocolate (which is actually REAL chocolate that is hot and I am not speaking of the Nestle hot chocolate packets at all!) or a dainty truffle, let us just say that the owner (Juliette Binoche) would see the same people the next day. And, based on Depp's previous films such as his three-part series of films, known as The Pirates of the Caribbean, you can't deny this film. He played an excellent role, as well as Judi Dench, Juliette Binoche, and the young daughter, played by Victoire Thivisol.
Main Titles has parts that sound just like the opening scene of Beauty of the Beast. Just thought I would throw that out there since no one else commented on it.

i saw the movie and fell in love with johnny depp. then i heard that they were releasing the soundtrack and i had to get it! but not for the sake of having it. THE MUSIC ROCKS!! if you like instrumental music you will love this music. it has a certain vibe
Amazing composition from Natalie Portman. Normally i go for best songs, but in this case the whole album. You would buy this even if you hadnt seen the film, however more so if you enjoyed the music in the film.
