This is a fantastic CD. If you are a fan of Copland, I would assume you are, you will love him in the "rehearsal" of Appalachian Spring...It adds an insight to the piece that I am sure everyone will enjoy and appriciate.

I very much enjoy the album, but the rehearsal was an absolutely unexpected bonus! To hear how it all comes together, piece by piece, string by string, was wonderful!

A Copland Celebration, Vol. 1 contains some of Aaron Copland's most popular and most riveting pieces. Copland's music seems to cover the entire range of human emotion, from the ecstatic four-movement Rodeo to the calming and poignant Appalachian Spring Suite. Also included in this collection is the convivial Billy the Kid Suite. This collection also contains a number of singles and concludes with the deeply moving Nonet for Strings, in four movements. iTunes is currently selling this album for $9.99. It contains 34 compositions. What a fantastic deal. I have played it many a time when writing papers and doing research, and it never fails to keep me awake and alert. Buy this album and listen to it over and over. The music is timeless.

This CD gives a great presentation of Copland's music, directed by him. I have heard many different CD's with other composers but this recording and style of the overall music is fantastic. Buckaroo Holliday is one of my favorites, and you can actually hear all the parts instead of feeling like its muffled. At the end there is also a recording of a rehersal with Copland, which gives you a sense of what kind of conductor he was. This is a great CD for those who appreciate Copland's most famous pieces that truly define America.

good album, good music but i like the way that the cincinnati pops did it better

Copeland has compsed some of the greatest music of the 20th century and this album has the best of it. Fanfare for the Common Man is one of the all-time greatest pieces of music and Rodeo and Appalachian Spring Suite are masterful pieces as well. This is alot of great music for such a low price, highly recomended.

Many years ago I had a tape of the Appalachian Spring recording in this album that included a recording of Copland's rehearsal with the orchestra. Since the tape is long-gone, I've been searching for this recording on CD for many, many years. Anyone who loves Copland's music should have this recording. The recording of the rehearsal is icing on the cake.

I highly recommend this album.

The thing I love about Copland and his compositions is that you can see what you are listening to. Every note builds together to make an impact. Whether it is Fanfare for the Common Man, Rodeo, or Down a Country Lane. I have a distinct picture that comes to life in my minds eye, in my heart. The London Symphony Orchestra has done a magnificent job of putting these spectacular compositions into the most complete set I have found in one album. My personal favorites are Down a Country Lane and the third movement of Rodeo (Saturday Night Waltz). Since Copland directed this whole compilation it only makes sense that it has an accurate interpretation. Buy this one and relax to the images of America at it's very best.

This album is good I would suggest listening to the four dance series.

Everybody knows what i'm going to say fanfare for the common man makes me shiver every bloody time i hear it so awesome, thank God you can buy it seperately.
