Never listened to NewGrass Revival, one of the best bluegrass(/rock), bands EVER. These are hymns - focus the meaning and lyrics, not [necessarily] the music! The instruments and voices are only the vehicles of illustrating the messages of these BEAUTIFUL songs. Barnard & Everett have collaborated once again to make a few great old songs in their own terms, yet still grassroots style bluegrass/hymn'ed style. Great to sing along with.
I love this kind of music and they did a great job with it! I'd love to hear more from them eventually! Blessed Assurance is the best song in my opinion.
I heard Shane & Shane in Denton with the Peasall Sisters and they were amazing. After both had done their sets they came out and played these songs together. It was incredible.

This CD is absolutely awesome. It’s full of character and it just makes you smile. I can’t believe people would judge it so harshly, as if they are some almighty judge of anything music, and there sole purpose is to sit here and school everyone on what music is. Just relax and enjoy it.
Awesome-Shane & Shane can do anything and it sounds great!!! The Peasall Sisters are very good. Bluegrass Gospel is wonderful. What a mix - these two groups. I hope they do more & more.
This is an awesome sampler... sounds little like caedomens call. The female voice flows awesome with shan and shanes voice's. i love when hymns are redone.
Definitely will take you back to your young church days with the hymns. The harmonies are great and it's overall fun to listen to... but I don't think I could listen to anymore than three of these. I think it's really cool that S&S did this as something unique... but I sure hope they don't stick to it for long. Overall, these songs are fun, good to sing along with, and a definite change in S&S usual sound.
I absolutely love Shane and Shane which is why I gave this 2 stars. The girls' voices were decent, as well. Besides that I was a waste of my three bucks. I don't get why everyone else gave it such high praise. I'm pretty sure most of Shane and Shane's fan base won't like it that much either. I don't know. Maybe I just don't get it. Sorry, guys. I love you anyway.
WOW! What a great diversion from their usual style. It is awesome to see how really good musicians can cross lines into other genre and still put out great music. This could open up a whole new audience for Shane and Shane. I think the parents of their current fans could relate to this style, as well as the membership of the rapidly growing Cowboy Churches around the country. PLEASE give us more guys. We love you.
this is a great work. i hope they continue to demonstrate their great guitar work and vocal range. i can worship to this any day of the week. this is so well done - much praise for Jesus and his creations! good work guys - keep up the perfector's work!
everytime i listen to this all i can think of is why the crap they didn't do a full album. It's so amazing i just wish there was more.
Nice effort. Bluegrass is a great style, but quickly turns into capitalizing on a fad when there are drums added. Once you add the drums, its no longer bluegrass. But the hymns are great.
