- Classic

Bark at the moon is an iconic metal album you have to own. bark at the moon is my favorite ozzy song

- First album with Lee, insanely great

Ozzy's first album with Ratt guitarist Jake E. Lee, 1983's Bark at the Moon, is by far one of Ozzy's key solo albums. The opening title song is definetly one of Ozzy's defining moments, and Lee's guitar playing is incredible (Ozzy's always worked with amazing guitarists). While the album has one little dud, the orchestral ballad "So Tired", the rest of the album does not fall flat. Other Key Songs: Rock 'n' Roll Rebel, Centre of Eternity

- as a TEEN and still, i love this WOLF

I've been reading about this awful remix but this album sounds great. While it's of course it's not on par with the Randy Rhodes albums, nothing is so, why grade on an unfair curve? BARK AT THE MOON sounds far better than any album Zack Wylde played on, and in my opinion, Jake E. Lee's style fits Ozzy's music with perfection. Also, a good thing about this "remix" is they added two tracks that are quite good, especially the "B Side" tune; it's very "classic rock" sounding. I can listen to the two Jake E. Lee albums with Ozzy more than the Randy ones simply because I've heard the other stuff so many times that I need to be in a certain mood that borrows with it a kind of nostalgic lightning to ride its course. With BARK and THE ULTIMATE SIN, though I've been into these albums since I was a teenager (when they came out... I rode my ten-speed two cities to buy SIN at a Warehouse music), it always feels like I don't quite know them enough... especially BARK that's not, thankfully, over-saturated with dated antiwar (or anti coldwar) sentiment. I made up my own order of songs for BARK, and here it goes: 1) Waiting for Darkness 2) Slow Down 3)Bark at the Moon 4) Now You See It 5) Centre of Eternity 6) You're No Different 7) One Up The B-Side 8) Spiders 9) So Tired 10) Rock N' Roll rebel... The last tune what most people like best, but for me, the title track remains champ for the riff alone, and after that Slow Down and Waiting for Darkness. Some very underrated tracks here.

- Yea this isn't original recording **** this waist of money

It isnt

- Ozzy ROCKS

I love Ozzy and i am only 11. I was introduced to him in 2008. His songs are so meaningful and he has a unique voice and he is truely blessed. And that is why i am a fan. I will love you now and forever ozzy. Keep on rocking because you can't kill rock and roll and you can not kill ozzy osbourne!! I LOVE you Ozzy!!!!!!!!

- just got the original

just ordered the original version on vinyl you know the one with the different tracklisting and the original title of centre of eternity (forever)thats the original not the 02 remix or the messed up remastered one in 95 or this one. get the original one its the way it was supposed to be lisened too

- SWEET!!! :)

Bark at the Moon my favorite song by Ozzy. But Itunes should make a Bark at the Moon - Single!!!!

- Original version

All of Jake’s guitar fills are in this version right now. Definitive way to listen to this album now. Not like the remastered and / or remixed version that came out in 2002 or 2003. This is my personal favorite Ozzy album of all time.

- Waiting For Darkness

This song is just a classic. Completes the album. Composition is tight. Nice groove of base and keyboards. The rock edge is provided by Jake E. Lee. Ozzy's lyrics are right on point. Emotion is there. You can feel what he is thinking on this track. My favorite song on the Lp. A Straight classic.

- Wack

I want the original recording of this album. Not the boched up 2002 remix version.

- Far better than most are willing to admit

Most people review this album with the approach of “it’s not that bad, considering Randy had died.” I love Randy as much as anyone, but this album is fantastic. The songwriting is great. The arrangements are great. And yes, the guitar playing is as good as anything you’d expect on any Ozzy album, regardless of who the guitarist is. People forget that Bob Daisley wrote a lot of the material for this album (just as he did for Blizzard and Madman) and he and Jake E. Lee obviously worked well together. There are really unique and special songwriting and arrangement moments throughout. Things I still haven’t heard other people do in a hard rock or metal context. And the bass lines are incredible. I’ve listened to this album probably a 1,000 times since it was released and I still love to listen to each song every time I hear it. I can’t imagine anything better I could say about an album than that! Do yourself a favor and listen to this one on its own merits and leave what came before and after behind. You might find yourself feeling the same way as me.

- Too many changes

Major gripe is the 2002 remaster re-arranged a lot of stuff, notably the intro solo in "Rock and Roll Rebel". I was pissed when I bought the 02 remaster.

- Bark at the mooooooon

!!!!!!!

- This is terrible!!!!!!

This sounds so bad where are the original recordings get rid of this garbage and get the original recordings please!!!!!!! Your ruining a great album!!!!!!

- Strung out

Ok I'm not usually a fan of covers i mean why listen to a cover when u can hear the real song? Any ways I was listening to a few covers of bark at the moon on iTunes and I happened to find one by a band called "Strung Out" album Live in a Dive. Anyway I'm posting this bc it has the most evil laugh in it ever. It's not screamo, and best of all you can hear the laugh in the preview of the song, no need to buy it. I bought it however bc anyone that can make a laugh sound that evil without making it emo deserves money. Just check it out, see if u agree thats the most evil laugh you've ever heard.

- The "Original" Album

If you want the original album, get it from "The Collection"..............it's the original album.

- Jake E Lee - not Ozzy

I'm NOT an OZZY fan. However, I love this and Bark at the Moon for one reason and one reason ONLY: Jake E Lee!!!! Ozzy is a twice baked half wit who is lucky to have found Jake after Randy's untimely passing. Without Randy, Ozzy's future was looking a little bleak. It took a player of talent, skill, and style, but also a presence not so large as to contend with Ozzy's inflated ego, to keep Ozzy afloat. Jake was the right player at the right time. Unfortunately, Ozzy beenfitted more from Jake's talent that Jake did. Jake - the rock world LOVES YOU!!!!!!!

- Very disappointed
.

I am very disappointed. Most “remixes” are usually adjusting volume/levels/compression. These mixes are redone completely. In particular the famous solos from Rock N’ Roll Rebel have been completely redone - and they are horrible! I got an original reprint and it sounds MUCH better. And for only a few dollars more! Original fans, keep looking...

- NOT ORIGINAL RECORDING

I knew this was off right away at the beginning of Centre of Eternity. The bell sounds off... and then at approx. 4:29 in the song, there is a glitch. I paid for a bad remaster. Dont buy this. Get the original recording on CD.

- A grand Howl for The Grandfather of Heavy Metal

Its easy to come out and make a misconception that the title track is the only good song on this album. While it is a good song and great album opener The other tracks are great too. So tired is a nice and touching ballad ( a feat for heavy metal artists that doesn't always prove successful). Your No Different is the perfect call out song while the others just fit the sometimes slow sometimes fast pace that is BATM. My tips don't get this album for the bonus tracks (which are okay) but rather the original tracks which are just stupendous.

- bark at the moon.

my favorite album from ozzy. love this album. ozzy is a part of the soundtrack to my life. TY OZZY. FROM ROB M. IN MA. USA.

- This one did Randy proud!

This album puts Ozzy in the class with AC-DC in being able to bounce back after losing a crucial member of the band. Just like Back in Black this album come through in classic style. This was the first Ozzy album I bought in 1989 on tape and I still love it now as much as I did then! "Centre of Eternity" and "Slow down" are my top favs on this set.

- Great album, why mess with it?

I think this is my favorite Ozzy album. Blizzard and Diary are both excellent and I also enjoy Speak of the devil because of the updated Sabbath songs and Tribute for well, how can you not love Tribute?!?! This is a great album so why did they mess with the sounds and such so much during a newer mixing. There were lots of small things missing, one Ozzy laugh during Rock n Roll Rebel, lots of different sounds during the album that to anyone that listened to and knew the original version well were almost shocking. On Centre of Eternity the bells that introduce the songs were completely different, the ending of You're No different was different as well. The guitar sounds on Bark at the moon, to me sounded different and lots of background noises that you always noticed were just plain gone. I was disappointed in the remix. Another thing I did notice is that it seemed to me that tracks 1-5 had lots of changes in them and 6-8 didn't have any that I noticed. Of course tracks 9 and 10 were not on the original so I can't really comment on them but I really like the song Spiders. My recommendation would be to go on ebay or something and find an original copy of this but if you can't or have never heard this album then the version here is at least acceptable and if you've never heard the original you wouldn't know how much you are missing. But other than that, this is a great album!

- A disgusting mockery of a masterpiece.

This version of Bark at the Moon is a travesty. Essentially, every single guitar track is mixed down. In many cases, you cannot hear many guitar leads that are quite prominent on the original. In more extreme cases, the guitar leads are removed altogether. Moreover the mix as a whole is radically different in a very negative way. I think that someone should be killed for this. Every time someone is deceived into buying this version, Jake E Lee's artistic integrity is being raped and defiled. It should be illegal for this to exist. Download the real version. Then mail Jake E Lee $20. He deserves to be compensated for this.

- His best!

As much as I love Randy’s playing on the first two albums, Jake E. Lee took Ozzy to a whole new level!! Centre Of Eternity is the crown jewel of this album!

- PURE AMAZING

JAKE E LEE BLOWS zakk wylde out of the water idc who u r Jake made this album insane

- Sounds Muddy

I don’t think these claimed remasters are remastered, they sound muddy!

- Old one

what happend to the old one they had on hear?. i was about to buy it but they took it off):

- Great album, but don't get it here.

Bark at the Moon by Ozzy Osbourne is a spectacular song/album by Ozzy, but this version is remastered. Usually when something's remastered, I can't tell the difference, but I could here. I still give it 5 stars, but please get this album at a store.

- Strange album - remix makes it stranger still . . .

I find it near sacrilege when classic bands remix their albums under the guise of a remaster. I haven't seen it happen much, but when it's done I find it incredibly disturbing. The Who's Who Are You CD comes to mind. It's one thing to mislead and take advantage of diehard fans who cherish the original pieces of work. And it's incredibly disrespectful to the musicians who wrote and performed the original work, unless they were approached and approved the re-mix. Imagine if the remastered Highway to Hell album had Bon Scott's various vocal ad libs edited out or changed, using other takes. It's the little details like that that fans notice and come to love. The details do matter . . . That all being said, if there was ever a classic hard rock album that may have benefited from a re-mix, it's Bark At The Moon. The original was a muddy mess of a recording, with a fairly weak guitar sound (engineer Max Norman has said in interviews they really struggled to get a sound for Jake E Lee) and drenched in gated reverb that was so prevalent at the time. Another issue infuriated drummer Tommy Aldridge so much that it hastened his departure from the band: one of his bass drums was not even included in the final mix. (A minute detail to the average fan, but kind of like having Brett Farve on your team and just running the wishbone). While the remix does fix that specific error and tightens up the overall sound considerably, alas, whoever supervised the project couldn't resist fiddling with the songs, as other reviewers have explained in some detail. New guitar parts show up, others have gone missing, "You're No Different" ends instead of fading out, and so on. While some of the changes are interesting, and I like how the album is a bit punchier, in the final analysis, the original work that fans grew up has been tampered with past the point of no return. There was simply no need to do all of that. Maybe the worst offense comes right off the bat (no pun intended): there's a huge hole in the title track after the first verse . . . the droning guitar that overlaps Ozzy's first dramatic use of the words "Bark at the Moon," and the insane laugh treated with delay that follows have been eliminated and reduced, respectively. It's not better - it's been castrated. It sounds like a demo. What happened to the smoking Jake solos on "Rock and Roll Rebel?" Why mess with it? Had they made small refinements, such as the drum mix, and improved guitar sound, that would have been plenty. The original could have been improved on. But they went too far . . . Those who haven't heard the original, I would suggest you seek that out. Tommy Aldridge is probably still pissed . . . but that's the 'real' album. And by all means boycott the 're-recorded' Blizzard and Diary albums. The most disgraceful thing I've ever seen done by any performer, hands down. In terms of the music and the songs on BATM . . . interesting. I always felt it was a "weak" album - but then, how come I listened to it so much? It's certainly odd, very goofy in places, but all in all, a brave attempt by Ozzy at the time to move on from the Rhoads tragedy. I always thought it should have or could have been a heavier album and Jake could have wailed a bit more. The keyboards are a bit much for me.

- WARNING

This is a re-release of Bark at the Moon with a new mix that lowers the keyboards in an incredibly stupid attempt to make the album more guitar driven. Track down a 1995 remastered CD, the one with the gold ozzy lettering on the right hand side, to hear it the way it was meant.

- Bark at the moon

Bark at the moon is possibly the greatest Ozzy song ever played, next to I Don't Know

- One of my favs from Oz.

I love the first three Ozzy studio albums. I have always loved this album. Ozzy really sings his heart out and the tunes are great. My personal favorite song is ‘You’re No Different’. My least favorite tune here is the ballad ‘So Tired’, which stops me from giving it five stars. Ozzy has always sounded terrific singing ballads...his heart on his sleeve vocal style is just perfect for ballads. I consider ‘So Tired’ his weakest ballad, right next to the Black Sabbath song ‘She’s Gone’. However, I love the rest of this album. I used to play ‘Rock ‘N’ Roll Rebel’ on my radio shows. What a great song. Just don’t believe the songwriting credits. Ozzy did not write the songs by himself. Bob Daisley and Jake E Lee helped write all of the songs. Just wish they would have been credited. Anyway, this is a great album.

- Underrated album.

I'm not sure why everyone is giving this album bad reviews. This album rocks! From rock n roll rebel to now you see it no you don't. Jake e lee is greatness on the guitar.to me he was the best ozzy had next to randy. I've seen jake and zakk wylde and I thought jake was way better. I just think zakk is to in love with the whammy bar. If you don't have this album I highly recommend it. Very underrated in my opinion.

- This remastered for itunes edition...

is the original recording...not the remixed version from 2002...sounds better than ever...thank you once again itunes...

- good but great

this give ozzy a big break after all bizzard of ozz is 1 of the biggest alabm of ozzy's carrer.

- Yes!

Fantastic. A must have for any rock fan.

- Jake E Lee

This one of Ozzys best albums after Randys death. But give thanks that Ozzy found Lee. Without Lee writing this album, Ozzy probably would have a footnote in metal.

- this rocks!!!!

this music rocks!!!! i have listened to ozzy for years

- Okay but not Great

Most of Ozzy's albums aren't Great. But many of them are Good. Bark at the Moon is neither. The title track is great but the overall album only rises to Okay. Some solid songs but nothing as good as the title track. It is obvious he is missing Randy Rhodes and is unsettled on what to do next.

- Amazing

Ozzy is a rock n roll GOD! He makes music that no other band can make. đŸŽ€đŸŽ”đŸŽž

- OZZY OSBOURNE – Bark at the Moon (2002 Sony, unadvertised remixed)

Much like Diary and Blizzard, when Bark At The Moon was reissued in 2002, it was also remixed. People who own my preferred edition of this beloved Ozzy classic have noticed the unadvertised remix. (There was no sticker on the cover indicating this album was remixed, and it was also ignored in press releases. The liner notes claim this was mixed by Tony Bongiovi, like the original.) Why this was done is a mystery to me, I’ve never read anything about it. All I can say is that you’ll notice particularly on Jake E. Lee’s solos, the overall sonics, and some keyboard parts as well. The ending to some songs, and the beginnings of others are very different. Maybe Ozzy thought the album sounded dated? The remix seems as if they were trying for the drums and effects to sound “current”. Which is silly, of course. This year’s “current” is next year’s out of date, but classic will always be classic. Either way, the original mix of Bark has been an underdog favourite for many years. Ozzy seems to really want to bury the Jake years. He only plays the title track live, none of the other songs. Granted, “Bark at the Moon” is clearly an outstanding track. He’s practically disowned and has deleted ‘The Ultimate Sin’ album from his catalog. There are still some lesser-known classics here equally good as the album tracks on Diary or Blizzard. For example, “Rock ‘N’ Roll Rebel”. This riff monster sounds like the natural successor to some of the best moments on Diary. There are a ton of great songs here. “You’re No Different”, which is one of those great Ozz slow burners is another one. I’ve always liked “Slow Down” and of course “Waiting for Darkness”. Ozzy had gothed out his sound a lot more on this album and you’ll hear a lot more keyboards and even strings. Ozzy was in a bad place back in ’83. Still hurting from the death of Randy Rhoads, Ozzy was forced to audition players again, a process he hated. Jake E. Lee (ex-Ruff Cutt) was selected, perhaps due to his ability to meld white hot riffs with neoclassical shredding. Bassist Bob Daisley returned, as did drummer Tommy Aldridge, who had played on the last tour. Don Airey returned for keyboard duties, creating a spooky atmosphere for the Ozzman to prowl. And prowl he did. This is a hard rocking album, probably harder than the two Rhoads discs. It is also a dark sounding album. Blizzard has a lot of musical joy on it; you can hear that these guys were stoked to be playing those songs. Bark sounds a bit tired by comparison, a bit like a druggy haze. “Now You See It (Now You Don’t)” is an example of a song that has all these qualities. It has a hard, almost Sabbathy guitar riff, but is cloaked in darkness. “Rock ‘N’ Roll Rebel” is the most upbeat song. Who doesn’t like a song about rebellion in the name of rock and roll? It also has obvious references to the TV preachers who were out to get Ozzy at the time, so the song is like a big middle finger from Ozzy. “I’m a just a rock ‘n’ roll rebel, I’ll tell you no lies. They say I worship the devil, they must be stupid or blind.” As mentioned, since the remix changes the sound of the album and swaps out solos here and there, pick up one of the earlier CD editions. The 1995 24-bit Remasters are currently as good as the pre-No Rest For The Wicked back catalog have ever sounded; it contained the B-side “Spiders” (sometimes written as “Spiders In The Night”). Unfortunately even though it’s a well sought rarity, it’s not one of Ozzy’s better songs. It’s an obvious B-side. Better (because it’s funnier) is “One Up The B-Side” which makes its CD debut on this edition. “The bent overture”. Heh. Now that Ozzy and Sharon have seen the light and finally reissued the original mixes of Blizzard and Diary, one can always hope for a long term Ozzy reissue program. I’d like to see the original mix of Bark At The Moon made available again. I think it’s a shame that Ozzy seems to have disowned most of the Jake E. Lee era. Jake told I a recent interview, Lee joined Osbourne’s band just before 1983â€Čs ‘Bark at the Moon,’ replacing late guitarist Randy Rhoads. When the album appeared, all lyrics and music were credited to Osbourne — in direct violation of an agreement Lee says they had going into the sessions. “I was told from the get-go, ‘[If] you write part of the songs, you’ll get writing credit, you’ll get publishing. That’s part of your deal,’” Lee told Eddie Trunk in a new interview (via Blabbermouth). Later, however, after he recorded the final guitar track, “They said, ‘Ah! We have the contract for you.’ And in it, it says, specifically, ‘Ozzy Osbourne wrote all the songs. You had nothing to do with any of the writing, you have no claim to publishing and you cannot say so publicly.’ ”When he balked, he says Sharon Osbourne, Ozzy’s wife and manager, told him he’d have to accept the new terms — or else his contributions would be erased. “She says, ‘Because if you don’t, we’ll give you a plane ticket, you go back home and you stand in line and you sue us. In the meantime, we have all your tracks, we’ll get another guitar player, he’ll redo your tracks, and you’ll have nothing,’” Lee added. Lesson learned, Lee said he got everything in writing before returning to work on Osbourne’s 1986 follow up, ‘The Ultimate Sin.’ “I refused to do anything until I had a contract in front of me,” he said, “promising me writing credit and publishing.” Lee ended up with cowriting credit on eight of ‘The Ultimate Sin”s the nine songs, though not its breakout hit ‘Shot in the Dark.’ Jake was and remains a great guitarist — check out his work on the incredible Badlands album. He’s since founded a new band called Red Dragon Cartel. So save your money and track down a copy of the 1995 24-Bit Remastered Editions.

- The Man - Jake E Lee

Fantastic album and what a guitarist. So underrated but took the art of playing to a new height.

- One of Ozzy's best.

Probaby the most accessible of Ozzy's albums. Quite easy on the ears. Ozzy has stated that he was so off his face during the Eighties that he can't even remember that decade. A pity, for this is a great album. Go on Youtube and see the video for 'So Tired'. See how flyblown Ozzy was. Best song? 'Waiting for Darkness'.

- One of Ozzy's Best

In my opinion, this is one of the best Ozzy albums. Memorable riffs and interestingly lyrics. Who cares if he can't remember most of what he did in the 80's. The music still rocks.
