- '80s tha best!!!

Depeche Mode... My goodness I listened to them when I was 7!!! Boy times fly and this is A+++!!! Get it!!!

- (Some of) The Best of Depeche Mode Vol. 1

While certainly not completely comprehensive, The Best Of compilation album has many of the greatest hits of the band (many of these being the most chart topping). Beginning DM fans, or those with very limited budgets will find the album quite useful, as it certainly has a great range of songs. It contains early hits like Just Can’t Get Enough, See You, and New Life. It also has many of the later hits Personal Jesus; Dream On; Suffer Well; and Precious among many more. Plus it contains the newest single not found on any other album, Martyr. It really is a good mix playing pretty smoothly from start to finish. The nice thing about actually buying the CD though, is that if you buy the special edition you get 23 music videos and “The Best of Depeche Mode A Short Film” which goes through their career and most if not all of the songs on this album.

Hmmm, what can I say...I am a great Depeche Mode fan ever since....This is a great collection of there greatest hits and a good start for anyone who like Depeche Mode. I love electronic music in general...beside DM I listen to songs like Contest by Liedschatten or tracks from the album Balearic House Map or even Deepest Shades Of House. All in all great music!!

Every single Depeche Mode song on every CD from Some Great Reward on to Playing the Angel is brilliant. If you just go with the singles, or a "Best Of" compilation like this, you WILL miss out on many of the greatest Depeche Mode songs. Purchase this if you're like me, and you already have everything that DM's ever put out and you want to show your devotion to the band. Can't wait for the new album to come out!!!!

- Great songs from synth pop icons

All the eras of Dep Mode are well represented, showcasing their incredible careers and breadth of styles and skill. Their evolution from dark, brooding simple pop songs to dark, even more brooding complex pop songs is remarkable. I saw them twice this year, once indoors and once outdoors, and they have not lost a step. get this album if you seek thoughtful lyrics woven into great beats and melodies.

I've been jonsing for some of this amazingly heavy beautiful music, they are simply one of the greatest! Nothing less then five stars!

- With and without Alan

If anything this collection highlights the quality of the Alan Wilder era songs and the weaker singles (Suffer Well. Precious, etc) post-Alan. This collection illustrates how Alan gave DM a progressive unique sound, while the newer stuff is guitar driven and mediocre. On the other hand Dave's vocals have improved over time and is more expressive than in the earlier music. Martin's guitar playing remains weak (sorry Martin!!!) and ultimately distracts. Fletcher?? Who knows what he does, but he did it better in the 80s and early 90s. Martin writes great songs and lyrics, but those songs need Alan's touch to fulfill their potential. Alan completes the circle.

I've always loved Enjoy the Silence when its come on the radio but never knew who sang it till now! I know, how ignorant of me. When I found it on here randomly, with other songs I absolutly love too, I nearly cried. Awesome!

Can't really consider this a "Best of" album without The Policy of Truth on it. =(
