Nickelback - Silver Side Up

About Silver Side Up by Nickelback Album

Silver Side Up is the third studio album by Canadian rock band Nickelback, released on September 11, 2001. It was the band's breakthrough album and, according to Allmusic, continued Nickelback's tradition of "dark high-octane rock" from the band's first two albums. It reached #1 in Canada, Austria, Ireland, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. The album was certified 8× Platinum in Canada, 6× Platinum in the US and 3× Platinum in the UK. The singles released from Silver Side Up were "How You Remind Me", "Too Bad" and "Never Again" – the most successful being "How You Remind Me", which reached #1 in the Billboard Hot 100, Mainstream Rock and Modern Rock charts. Nickelback was named #1 Most Played Rock Artist of 2002 Across All Radio Formats. Despite never being released as a single, "Woke Up This Morning" was played frequently during the All the Right Reasons Tour and on the radio. Silver Side Up has sold 5,733,140 copies in the US up to June 13, 2009. According to IFPI, over 2,000,000 copies of the album were sold in Europe. It was ranked #47 on Billboard's 200 Albums of the Decade. The fifth track entitled 'Just For' was originally recorded on Nickelback's debut album Curb under the title "Just Four". The seventh track entitled 'Money Bought' was originally planned to be the theme song of the new WWE Pay-Per-View "Money In Bank" but eventually it went to "Money" by I Fight Dragons.

- Nickleback

Awesome my favorite song is "this is how u remind me"

- Nickelback

I love this whole album! I used to listen to it with my neighbor when we were little kids, and it makes me think of the good memories.

- Very good

Nickelback is a fantastic band with tons of talent. They start out Silver Side Up with Never Again. A song about spousal abuse when he was a young child. The song could have been better and was a terrible choice to start off the cd. The second song How You Remind Me is a fantastic song that is still one of the most popular songs by Nickelback. The third song Woke Up This Morning is a sad song about bad luck that almost brings a tear to one's eye. It starts out with an intricate guitar solo to start the song and would have made a great song to start off the cd. Then a great conclusion song Good Times Gone that is immensely under-rated. It starts out as a slow acoustic song and explodes into a great, loud, and almost country-like song. All in all, Silver Side Up is a great cd.

- Nickelback

This album is so good it makes fire shoot out of my burning urethra. Every time I listen to this record it makes me want to hang myself while deepthroating bleach. 10/10 would recommend

- love the music but...

some songs that i bought downloaded, yet do not play. help? great songs but can't get the stuff to play

- Creepy

Great album, but am I the only one who noticed this was released on 9-11-2001

- Haters are just jealous

I love how people try to make the argument that this album is evil because it was released on 9/11. What? Do you think Nickelback had control of that? People are such idiots Anyway, an AMAZING Post-Grunge album, "How you Remind Me" and "Too Bad" are great singles. If your a fan of Post-Grunge then there is a 67% chance that you will like this album. (I say 67 because most people state their opinion based on other people's opinion). Those slick guitar riffs are just amazing, and Chad Kroeger puts more noticeable effort into his voice than nowadays.

- Classic

I remember as a little kid listening to "how you remind me" on the radio while my mom drove me to school, nostalgia smack!

- Their last good album.

Don't get me wrong, they had a lot of good songs after Silver Side Up, but the overall quality decreases from The Long Road onwards. It's kind of sad. Every album after this (with the exception of the Long Road, which has a few good tracks) is pure commerciality.

- A Solid Rock Album

Nickelback Has Been Getting Nickel Flack as of Late! But Hate All You Wish How'd Your Album Top The Charts? Till You Can Afford To Answer That Nickelback Are A Great Band And This Was Their Apex Album and How You Remind Me Was The Corner Stone of It!!!

- O.o

Did anybody notice the release date? :(

- Awesome

I thought it was great

- Awsome

This is the best band ever in history of man kind!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

- Nickelbacks greatest album

This is one of my favorites. Their best is all on here!!

- Just a kid

Black veil brides sound like Nickleback in the song in the end

- One of my NB Favorites

Great album. Classic. Sound is amazing, as well. When Nickelback was still really awesome. Still are, but the new stuff is nothing compared to this album and its predecessors. Well done, NB.

- Country

Im a country music guy but i love this band.

- Ugh

Worst band ever ! You have no taste if you like this band .

- When Nickelback was good.

One of their few good albums. Good Songs: Never Again Woke Up This Morning Too Bad Hollywood Money Bought Where Do I Hide Hangnail Okay Songs: How You Remind Me Just For (although I like this one better than Curb's version) Good Times Gone So that's it. The okay songs aren't bad, just boring. There are no bad songs. How You Remind Me is too repetitive. I reccomend this over their new stuff.

- Nickelback

I love nickelback! They are one of my favorite bands. I love rockstar, s.e.x., and how you remind me! Keep up the great work!

- This how you remind me of what I am really I am

I two dicks

- Love the

I could care less what people say. Nickelback is great. People are dbag trand followers.

- ehhh

Not the best album ive heard but how you remind me is the best off of here but thats only my opinion

- Best old nickelback album

The best 2 songs in my opinion are: How you remind me Woke up this morning But creepy relese date!

- Great album

Awesome CD. You’re not gonna find poppy songs like Photograph on here. Never understood the hate on this band. Go listen to ‘Just For’ and ‘Where Do I Hide’ and tell me it’s all “overproduced garbage”. Whatever, the people that hate on this band just listen to top 40 anyways. Great album from a great band!

- Nickelback is awesome

They're better live

- Really?

I had to give it one star to write a review if i could i would give it negative 3 but seriously don't listen to this garbage go listen to real rock like The Gaslight Anthem not Nickelback they're freakin awful....

- Good release actually

How You Remind Me will probably be the best song from Nickelback on my count, it goes to show that even though they are in it for the fame mainly and not much for the music they did produce some good rock hits early on with their standard formula.

- Worst band!

The pits.. no taste if you like this

- How You Remind Me!!!

I absolutely love how you remind me!! Fave song on this album && one of my top fave by nickelback :)

- The best

Nickback is the best band ever in my life time!

- Amazingly beautiful!

"How you remind" me is what first started my love for nickelback. It should have been the start to the cd! All in all nickelback is an extremely talented group and it really shows in this album.

- rules

The 5 stars go 4 the holl band. in my opin nickelback is the best band out ther!

- BEST OUT OF ALL THE ALBUMS!!!!!!

I love more songs in this album than all others. My favorite is 'Where do I hide', 'Hollywood', and 'never again' even though it is a bad song for women. 'How you remind me' isn't bad for a slower song.

- weird

good album but bad release date

- Love them

Love these guys!!

- Good but not great

The album has some good points and some low but I think it could have been better.

- Awesome!

Reminds me of my early childhood. My dad used to play this all the time. My favorite is never again. I also like woke up this morning.

- Pretty good

Not as good as The Long Road or All The Right Reasons, but pretty good. I remember the first half of the album being the best.

- Nickelback rocks!

I love 'how you remind me'! My favorite though is 'if today was your last day' from Dark Horse. REALLY GOOD ALBUM THOUGH!!

- One of my favorite albums

My favorite albums are Sliver Side up, The long road, All the right reasons and pretty much all of their albums

- if every one cared

i like nicelback song like if every one cared and few other songs cause when i am not in a good mood i listen to it and i am calmed down

- How you remind me

Excellent song. This was back when they did great stuff. I think the hate is over the top but I do agree their later material isn’t nearly as good as this. Note: Just looked at the release date of this album......wow.

- 9/11

released on september 11 2001. i know a man who was going that very day to purchase this album from a music store in new york on that day. he was never able to..because he was killed on 9/11. this album touched both his life and mine.
