Umm Nickelback did not sell out. Yea they have sold out arena's all over the US, Canada, and UK. But they make great rock music and change with the times and are successful at it. Anyone who says they sold out is just a moron. But this is CD is a great listen all the way through. This was recorded when Chad was still moving furniture for a living, and so was "The State" If you love nickelback and great rock music buy this.

I think it is funny that people in my school think that its weird to listen to the older stuff from bands but this by far is their best album. Top 3 are: Just Four: 8.5/10 awesome hard beat! Little Friend: 10/10 what can i say?! awesome! Where: 9/10 good lyrics, great beat Why does everyone (especially the "die hard" nickelback fans) think that this is a recent album? Anyone notice the "released: 1996"?!!!!

this album is NOT new...it was released in 1996...its nickelbacks first album....idk who said it was realsed in 2007 but it wasnt

It's so odd, most bands start raw and get more commercial and refined later. But this new album sounds more raw than their older stuff, like Photograph and stuff. It's ok though if they want to get all punk like this I guess.

I like this Nickleback sound. It’s raw, and there’s so much more meaning behind the lyrics. Some may say it’s representative of Pearl Jam, or a rip off of Pearl Jam, but I don’t mind because this stuff is GOOD. Now if they’d just go back to how they used to be...

I don't care what chad kroeger's voice sounds like, I Still love NICKELBACK this album is great in my opinion, in my opinion here is my top 5 1.Curb 2.little friend 3.where? 4.fly 5.detangler

Their best album by far. Crunchy riffs, great drumming, great lyrics, great singing (0_0), everything is great. This is way better than their new stuff. The only okay (not bad, not good) song is Just Four. I reccomend this and Silver Side Up.

Well, Nickelback really hadn't gotten into there element yet. If you listan to this CD than listan to the "Dark Horse" CD or the "All the Right Reasons" CD its TOTALLY differant than this. But it is pretty good for a first CD. Expecially Nickelback's. But I love Nickelback & I think that they will keep making awesome albums. Expecially because of Chad Kroeger's voice. It's insaine the talent that man has. GO NICKELBACK!!!

Considering I'm a massive fan of this band, in this album, especially Where, I feel like Chad is definitely forcing his vocals. It's not vocally smooth

This is Nickelback's rawest album, before they threw their old identity away to replace it with mainstream personas. Definitely buy this album, because it rocks, even though it's Nickelback.

You know what, any body who wrote anything about the release date is morronic, who cares, talk about the music. I mean seriously, this is a great album, it is a precurser to all of nickelback's albums now. Also if you are one of those people who says that nickelback is so " over produced" all of their songs have a message, which almost completely different from what almost any band does. So if you want to make a comment that talks about the release date and how it got messed up, or how bad you think this album is, or how bad the albums are after this one, just don't writ it, K.

To the person that said they should stick to the soft stuff and all the girly ballads and stop making the good hard rock songs... STFU thats your oppinion so keep it to yourself.

For all you that hate this album, think about this, this is their first album an they didn't have much experience writing songs. Cut them some damn slack. I bet you wouldn't know what to write about for your first album either.

If Nickelback stayed like this, they'd really be one of the greatest rock n roll bands. I don't understand how a rock band could go from this to crap on All the Right Reasons (exceptions for Animals, Side of a Bullet, and Follow You Home). It is so difficult finding bands with raw hard rock this raw these days. If you like raw, grungy, rock. this is it.

wow people you can tell by their sound that this is an older album..if you were a true nickelback fan you would be able to tell.

They'd be so much more respected by underground rock fans who actually know a thing or two about music, unlike trend-following pop-lovers.

Wow, Nickelback actually knows how to write songs that aren't just radio-fodder?? I'm shocked. I hate Nickelback, but I have to admit that this grunge-heavy album reminds me of Pearl Jam, and almost, dare I say it, Alice in Chains. Granted it's still not good because there's nothing new being offered here, but it's still nice to know that Nickelback used to write better songs that You Look Good With Something in Your Mouth.

I've listned to quite a bit of music over the years, and it always seems like the first album is always the best by bands. They're full ofcreativity, fire, emotion and good writing. They were still doing it for the passion of making music their way. Before the studio, the money, the producers and fans started judging them and pushing them in directions they perhaps didn't want to go. But I like all of Nickleback's music, they're just a great band making mostly good music. If you haven't seen them live, do it - it's a huge treat. Good old fashioned rock concert with drum solos, guitar solos, lots of stuff blowing up. Great fun. And hey, all bands change over time. I get a kick out of people who say bands sell out if they become popular and start making some money. So what? Like there's something bad about becoming successful. Don't like the music? Fine, move on.

I absolutely love this album Nickelback rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Even in 1996 they were great this is their best album in my opinion ^_^ not trying to talk about them i love all their albums i just think this is the best out of them so dont need any hate messages of stuff like that please ^_^

Alright, first things first, I HATE Nickelbacks recent stuff. I never liked Nickelback. And then I come across this album. Now this has RAW, WICKED guitars, searing vocals, kick@ss drums... this is a rock band. I guess Nickelback does have talent, but they're just sell outs. I highly recommend this album, its just awesome - so much better than their new stuff.

started listening to nickel back in 2000 but this album was great compared to what was out in 96

I am the proud owner of all six of Nickelback's studio albums, and thus far there is one that I can point to and say 'This is Nickelback': Curb. Normally I'm all about bands maturing and refining their sound, changing it to keep from sounding repetitive. Unfortunately, Nickelback has changed in a negative, business-minded sense, rather than a positive, music-minded sense. You can clearly trace their refinement over their albums, as well as the shifting of their style from brutal, hard-hitting rock to more mainstream, almost pop-rock. Curb was their very first album (released in 1996, not 2002, by the way), and it clearly demonstrates just how talented they are at the heavy, angry stuff. The newer albums merely build upon the cliches and catch-phrases we already know and love to hate. Curb deals with more varied and deeper topics, if a little abstract (maybe that's another reason I like this album so much). Regardless, if you want to hear TRUE Nickelback, pick up this album. If Chad and the gang come out with an album more along these lines instead of the weathered and well-beaten line they're currently tailing, I will be very grateful. Favorites include Little Friend, Curb, Where, Fly, Left, and I Don't Have.

pretty good. if you started listening to his modern songs first (from like All the right reasons and dark horse, mabye silver side up) and then u heard his first songs, u wouldn't reconize him at all. i know i didn't......

I was surprised to hear this. It's a whole different heavy metal side of nickelback that i wish they didn't get completely rid of in their new albums... Very good.

ive seen comments that say stuff like"oh, this album isnt new...and so im not going to like it"....it may not be new people but neither is silver side up, or the state, or All the right reasons....but they are newer than Curb....

In spite of having only discovered Nickelback with the release of the single "Photograph," I thought I was a pretty devoted fan...until I heard this album: it is a revelation! I now feel a bit sad when I realize how very mainstream they have gone in 15 years (or so). I would love to see them return to these roots in the future. This album displays so much raw power, it blows me away!

Who cares about the relaease date just buy the songs like a normal person, not a critic

I feel Nickelback needs to stay on songs like never gonna be alone and photographs the easy listening stuff. I think the should drop the dirty stuff and stick with songs like gotta be somebody ,savin me, if today was your last day. of the annoying era of Nickelback. This band is a nightmare come true. Saying Nickelback makes good music is like saying Jason Voorhees is cute and cuddly.

I think pretty much every review i've read here says something like: omg this is like soooo much better than all their other sellout crap. And you guys are absolutely right. One thing about this album that is pretty easy to hear, is that Chad Kroeger didn't use pitch editors on here to make himself sound like a better singer like he did on every other album. To me that's a big deal because it makes the music so much more authentic. And also, did anyone else notice that "Just Four" is also on Silver Side Up? Idk, just thought i'd point that out. What i'm saying is that their other stuff is good, and it's a good thing that they are evolving their sound, but the old stuff is just better. Except for the song "Side of a Bullet" off All the Right Reasons. That song is one of the best songs they've written. And they used a Dimebag solo on it, which made it even better. I'm gonna stop talking now... So all in all, great album.

David 1972 needs someone to set him straight. As a woman, I love Kiss, AC/DC, Nickleback, Creed, Cream, some Hendrix, Metallica, and I'm proud of it. I'm also tired of people saying that rock music objectifies women, because it is geared toward male fans, but albums like this one are too good to care. I would also appreciate later Nickleback if they had less of a pop sound.
