- "And **** the naysayers cause they don't mean a thing"

The parental advisory label for strong language is there for a reason, to warn listeners there will be a lot of cussing, and there is in this album. Overall a good album that somehow gets bad rap from some people. Down and All Mixed Up are radio hits that anybody can get into, but I think the best song is Brodels

- Too much cussing?

First off this is their best album next to grassroots. I even prefer this one over 311 Music. It says in the titles that this album is explicit! Anyone with a brain or who knows how to spell "cursing" correctly would know this means they say naughty words in the songs. The crap they're making now like Universal Pulse and Uplifter is just simply laughable. They fell apart after making amber, and developed a whole new crowd base, which is sad bc they were my favorite band in mid and high school. Now they're just another band that you have to emphasis that you're an old school fan and not a new school fan.

- 311 best innovators

this is the best album by 311 combining elements of all genres of music with rock alternative, punk, rap, and reggae, their three best songs come from this album with "Down" being number 1 and "Don't Stay Home" at number 2 and finally "All Mixed Up" at three. Enjoy

- Love 311

One of my favorite band of all time. But this will forever be the "they're gonna sell out" album in the back of my mind. Music and Grassroots were the soundtrack to my late teens and I loved that everybody didn't know who they were! Actually, this album would have been GREAT if it weren't for Transistor bringing up the rear and kicking its teeth in. Great album for a 311 Noob.

- One of my 311 favorites

I love this album... But if you were to go buy the album in a store, it's actually called The Blue Album. Oh well, iTunes is notorious for their mess ups. To all to naysayers and haters, you get the double bird!

- Great Album

It’s a great album from almost 30 years ago. If you are looking for it then you kinda already know what it is. The only reason I’m even writing a review is because the comments of others comparing them to bands like Papa Roach(lolol) are missing the fact that 311 predates all those bands and paved the way for them.

- Horrible

What An Awful Band.

- Oldie but goodie! Download. ASAP.

If you're into feel good music that can get you jumping at one moment then chills you out at the next - this ish is for you.

- Umm what? Great Album.

311- Music, Excellent... 311-Grassroots, Excellent... 311-311 Great. If you dislike rap punk or alternative rock, dont buy a rap punk or alternative rock cd. Anyone who dislikes this cd dislikes the genre most likely. You should be a fan of the genre and give a review. Stop wasting everyones time rating it bad because you dislike this kind of music. I like all types of music including rap rock electronic classic rock and pretty much everything and this falls in between genres and defines a good blend. Great production and some loud lyrics, some smooth tracks too.

- The best one! But the release date is wrong

By far the very best of all 311 Albums!!!! I have listening to this band since grassroots first appeared back in 90,93 somewhere in between. This album was released in 94!!!! iTunes needs to fix it

- The best

IMHO this is their best album ever. Period. Their sound and artistry is unmatched.

- Wow

I really cannot believe that this band has such a strong following. I wish itunes would let me give this album zero stars but it wont. It is terrible. All of these songs sound the same. It almost has to be a joke. With roughly two decades under their belt, 311 is somehow still the most immature sounding band that I have ever heard...

- what the hell

Ive always loved this album all the way through...still dig it. My only beef on Itunes is that the cover art is a picture of a cd...not the actual art...you can see the 4 half circles and the theft deterent tape on the top. I know its petty but what the hell, one of the most popular albums of its time and you cant get a legitimate album art picture.

- I like their reggae

I'd prefer it if they played more reggae

- A Classic

The unique sound this band crafted as kids never ceases to blow my mind. No doubt my favorite 311 of all time, even the B sides to this record slap. Highlights for me are Random, All Mixed Up, Purpose, Loco, and T&P Combo.

- One of my favorite albums of all time!!!

311 is easily in my top 15 favorite bands off all time!!! This album is completely timeless in my eyes!!! If you are wanting to get into 311 this album is a good start!!! Heck I even started with this album!!! I bought it back when It came out & listened to it non stop & I still listen to it non stop!!! BUY IT NOW!!!! No, I mean RIGHT THIS SECOND!!!

- EDITED!!

ITUNES NEEDS TO PUT THE EDITED VERSION OF THE ALBUM HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

- Really?!?!?!?

I can't believe all of these bad reviews!! If you don't like it then why even get on here and write one. You aren't even writing a review..just dissing on something you don't like. Why waste your time...Anyway, this album is one of the best 311 has done!! Top 5 for sure. Favorite 3 songs on this album..1. Random 2. Misdirected Hostility 3. All Mixed Up.....

- Date correction

I don't know if anyone mentioned this in another review, but the album was released in 1995 not 1990. 'Kay thanks. Oh yeah buy it, it's good!

- Overrated and amatureish

There are brief flashes and fleeting songs that actually find me enjoying the tunes of 311. There's the occasional heavy guitar on this album that reminds me of Papa Roach. And there's also some summery vibes that don't make me want to rip my ears off. As usual with 311, though, there's too much rap and not enough summer. But it ends there. Especially with this early effort. Right off the bat it's clear that these guys are minimially talented and dramatically overrated amatures. They're a second rate ska/reggae band with a rap fantasy at their best. Don't give me the argument that all bands start off weaker than they end up, because i will agree that they do get better than this, but only a little. Through their whole career their big hook was "We're dirty skater teens, but hey our pants sag and have street cred too." Just about everything about this album is painful. I'm not a fan of their trance-like songs or their more rappy tunes. The rap songs are particularly horrible - especially the guys (not Hexum's, the other dude who's name isn't worth remembering) vocals. Even Hexum's vocals are weak. They bury them in the songs with louder music almost to cover up the fact that he can't sing very well. And those quiet and crappy vocals are singing lyrics that I can't ever seem to focus on. They just ramble aimlessly with seeming non-sequitors strung together. My ears just glaze over and, before i know it, the song ends and i have no idea what it was about. What little i do pay attention to comes off as painfully dumb and childish. The album is also of very poor quality. It all sounds live and impromptu and recorded with a handheld tape recorder. The stats are almost non-existent on this album. There's only one good song here in All Mixed Up, but even that is only a 3 star song. There's also two 2 star songs that are worth keeping. The rest are throwaways.

- old school

This Album is probably the best 311 has put out. Brings back memories of high school and walking down the street with my "walkman" jamming out to it. Listening to it before my soccer games and getting hyped. I dont know if you wanna call it Ska or whatever, but the mixture of rap, punk and alternative with some reggae is dope... yea, i said it... DOPE!

- ehhh

Ok I'm new to 311 I like about 8 of their songs, because I hate rap. Besides the fac that it is a genre I don't normally listen to. But I'm pretty open to music, in my library are songs from Iron Maiden, The Clash, Boston, Pink Floyd, Dropkick Murphys etc. I still think that they are not that great. However they are better than The Jonas Brothers.

- We trip the shroomsfantastic,

Make an instrumental add a little vocal take it to the stage make the people go LoCo!

- atrocious in every concievable way

Rap rock is a terrible genre to begin with but 311 finds new lows throughout their albums, which are all uniformly horrid. I can understand being 15 and digging into this hapless blend, but to take it seriously past the sage of 20 is to be either nostalgic or deaf.

- Awesome...

311 mixes rock, reggae and hip-hop into something truly unique. 'Down' is great rap-metal from one of the first in the genre. 'All Mixed Up' is reggae rock at its finest.

- 311

311 is the best band ever

- 311!!

my favorite band, buy all albums, they all rock, uplifter is romantic i guess, transitor is a stoners anthem the blue album along with the rest rock all the way through

- Artwork problem...

I know some of you people claim to be diehard fans, but has ANYBODY noticed the the artwork is simply a photo of the CD? There are even smudges on the case. As for some people, get over the explicit lyrics; does it really want to make you post a bad rating? Censorship normally just interrupts the flow of the song, and (especially if it's Eminem or Nine Inch Nails) ruins the song entirely. On a different note, why are people attacking mellow 311?

- All time great

I lot of bands I like cite 311 as a major influence so I had to check them out and I loved this album. It's a little short but flows great. This is their best album.

- YAAAAH

yay

- 311

My favorate 311 album and one of my favorate 90s alternative rock albums.

- 311 at it's best!!!!!!

This album rocks which isn't unusual from 311. Yeah baby!!!'

- Wow

This is fantastic... Just buy it, you will not regret it.

- When music was music.

I'll tell you the albums from music to soundsytem are all gems. From chaos is alright,.Even the most die hard 311 fans won't like uplifter and universal pulse. It's sad to say but once the whole band is married with kids the fun and artistic ability always stops. When i was in high school from 96-00 watching them stoned was unreal.Their concerts where unbelievable. Now frontman nick hexum just seems so bored at what he's doing he's just eeking out what money he can get until retirement that's fast approaching. But the memories of moshing and bouncing up and down to the beat will never leave me.They could do some funky hard rock stuff but the trash their putting out now is a big dissapointment and i hate dissing this great band cause there will be no more 311s..Don't buy the album music here it's best parts are cut..Wanna go back to your happy high school stoned days transistor blue and soundsytem are your best bets.
