- Not Best rap group

luda12134 or whatever, there is no way that outkast is one of the top rap groups ever. they may be good but they will never be in the same category as NWA or Public Enemy or even Run DMC.

- Very well album

This album was great and like most artist the first is always the best. But I would have to disagree with them being the best rap group ever. Im sorry to say but Bone Thugs N Harmony and N.W.A just killed everybody with all of their hits. Its a hard choice to pick #1 between these two groups.

- AQUEMINI WAS THEIR BEST BUT THIS WAS A CLOSE SECOND

CAN BUMP THIS FROM START TO FINISH TIGHT FLOWS NICE BEATS CANT GO WRONG WITH SOME OLD OUTKAST

- Undisputed!

They were my first introduction to the south. I was visiting my cousins in N.C. when they intorduced me to them and I have not missed a verse since. They will alway be undisputed in my book.

- ❤️

- Vulgar

Vulgar and boring.

- Hip Hop Gods

Truly unbelievable hip hop from 1994. 20 years later, and few artist are still as good, even with modern technology. This group had it all, great lyrics, instrumental talent, singing talent, and supreme production talent. Any fan of hip hop that doesn't have Outkast in their playlist is missing out.

- This is their best album to me...

This is their best album, because it is pure southern rap and pure hip hop, after their second or third album they got pretty weird and their music was no longer as good. To be honest they got more weird with every album, especially Andre 3000. Maybe that's why he's not considered one of the greatest rappers of all time, just to think if they would've made more albums in this style and stayed true to hip hop, how many classics they could've had.

- CLASSIC

defintion of classic music

- ...

This is Outkast's debut and the album that put one of the greatest groups out there. Andre 3k and Big Boi are both excellent rappers here which is no surprise. What I don't get is why is this their least popular album even though it's quite possibly their best?

- goat's

they were one of the first musical groups to introduce me to hip hop and still remain at the top of my playlist. 5/5

- Lyrical Genius.

Andre 3000 and Big Boi helped bring Atlanta to what it is now.

- CLASSIC!

One of my favorite albums of all time!

- Perfection

Bought this back in '94. Straight classic.

- Top 5

still in my top 5 albums of all time to this day...love it

- wow

i like cookies and milk

- real hip-hop

this has to be outkast's first & best album. none of their later releases can top what they did on southernplayalistik... it was dope then & so relevantly dope now!!!

- Must buy

Call of the wild, southerncadallisticplaylisticmusic etc..! Slaps

- Great

Outkast's first 5 albums were true masterpieces. Everything from this to Speakerboxxx/The Love Below was a true classic. And I think it is disappointing that only 2 out of Outkast's 6 albums in a 12 year span won (and were ever nominated) Grammys.

- Best album

Best album they ever did

- record store day re-release 4/19/14

to all the heads; if you're down for a vinyl copy, call up your local brick and mortar shop. legacy pressed up 6000, so they're not too hard to find to all the new kids; and if you like this album, snap up 'runaway slave' by showbiz & AG, if you haven't already peace!

- Dirty South

The greatest hip hop album to ever come out of the dirty south , Lac Cruisin , 40 Ounce Sippin , Hoe Pimpin , Nuttin like 90s hip hop , This is a must have for any 90s hip hop fan !!!

- Amazing first album.

OutKast is by far my favorite rap group. Dem Franchise Boyz comes in 2nd but OutKast really make great rap songs that become classic with each listen. They're popular for a reason. Best songs on the album are "Ain't No Thang" and my favorite rap song ever "Player's Ball."

- pretty good

2nd best rap group after UGK

- Very well done

I think this was their first album. I got this in cd back in the day and I don't want to buy a different albume cuz it might just ruend my outlast perspective. Defenetly buy this album first u will love it. All of the album!!! Not just one song

- southernplayalisticcadillacmuzik

One of my favorite grillin in the yard dominoes and some brews kind of tunes, But I want to know what happened to the song that goes ...I hear voices in my head and they keep callin me by Outkast.AnywayzAint no thang & Playaers Ball is the best Thanks, back to thedouble6,give me twenty on the noes.

- only 6 reviews!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?????????????????????

This makes me sick! This is one of the best albums of the 90's.. All you lil kids thinkin "Hey ya" and Mrs Jackson is what made Outkast are a joke! Outkast was and always will be one of most under looked hip hop artists ever! Not some pop Souja boy,Hurricane Chris GARBAGE! Ugh Rap is frustrating!

- epic

this is southern rap at its best. This album got me hooked, and now i own all their albums. if you dont want to buy the whole thing, the best songs are southernplayalisticadillacmuzik, players ball, and hootie hoo

- Classic!

this is my favorite outkast album, its in my top 5. My Favorite tracks are Aint No Thang, Crumblin Erb, Git Up, Git Out, Clamin True and D.E.E.P, If your a True Hip Hop fan then you should check this album out....Classic

- The South Got Something To Say!!

"...the South got something to say!!" those were Andre' 3000's words when they got boo'd by some audience members at the Source Awards in like '94 or '95; boo'd probably by some New Yorkers who were classic South haters during that era (20 years ago), now they are biting Southern hip hop which is poetic justice. Anyway this album is a Masterpiece! But in order to really appreciate it as a masterpiece you have to understand where rap was then and understand that Atlanta wasn't really even on the hip hop map at the time. Low and behold along came Outkast with their debut album, Southerplayalisticcadillacmuzik, and Down South hip hop was born to the world in grand fashion. This is one of the greatest hip hop albums of all time; it belongs up there with Illmatic, Reasonable Doubt, 36 Chambers, Ready To Die, All Eyez on Me, Doggystyle, The Chronic...etc.

- One question what is music/ rap

Outkast is.

- Awesome

I really don't understand how these guys are so overlooked. In a world of cliche "rappers" at every turn, who all sound alike, OutKast have NEVER followed everyone else's formula. They have remained original and creative from the start, and that is apparent with every album they have released. I have yet to be disappointed in them. But, knowing modern "music", they too might bring in the auto-toner and conform to everyone else's sound. I hate to sound so negative, but I've seen so many artists fall into cliches. This album isn't particularly my favorite of OutKast's, but it's still better than 99.99% of rap out there today. I love the message of "Git Up, Git Out". Their lyrics are probably the deepest and most artistic of any hip-hop group to date. They do sometimes rap about cars and women, but they do it in a more comical way, you WANT to hear more. They're more about making awesome music and remaining true to their roots than bragging about their fame like everyone else. If you even THINK you like hip-hop, buy this album and be introduced to REAL hip-hop. Don't let the current trend-followers on the top 100 list fool you; THIS IS HIP-HOP!!

- Simply Revolutionary

I remember seeing the world video premier for Player's Ball on Rap City back in the day and being totally blow away. Then the video for Southerplayalistic came shortly after and I was hooked. This album had such a different sound when it was released and still sounds great today. I wish Outkast would stop being so experimental and get back to a sound like this. This is the perfect CD to bump in your car during the summer.

- 👍

Greatest album of 94 to me. Album defined my teenage years. Remember skipping school and standing in line when it dropped. Classic from intro to the reprise of Players Ball.

- Tip top classic album

One of the best albums in the history of hip hip no doubt

- The Alpha of country rap tunes

The south Got something to say

- The right stuff, and extremely underrated..

I only wish that andre and big boi could have kept it the same way. this is true hip hop at its finest. the definition of the south!!

- Classic

This album is in my top ten of all time.

- Real Southern Hip-hop

This album laid the blueprint for all southern based ("Dirty South") hip-hop. This is a must for any music collection (along with ATLiens and Aquemini). The opening lyrics to Hootie-Hoo should be "required reading" for any aspiring hip-hop artists.

Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik Wiki

Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik is the debut studio album by the American hip hop duo Outkast, released on April 26, 1994, by Arista Records and LaFace Records. Having befriended each other two years prior, rappers André 3000 (then known as Dré, real name André Benjamin) and Big Boi (Antwan Patton) pursued recording music as a duo and worked with production team Organized Noize, leading to a record contract with LaFace. With the team producing, Outkast recorded the album at the Dungeon, D.A.R.P. Studios, Purple Dragon, Bosstown, and Doppler Studios, all in their hometown of Atlanta, Georgia. A Southern hip hop record, Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik features live instrumentation in its hip hop production and musical elements from funk and soul genres. Wanting to make a statement about urban life as an African American in the South, Outkast wrote and recorded the album as teenagers and addressed coming of age themes with the album's songs. They also incorporated repetitive hooks and Southern slang in their lyrics. Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik charted at number 20 on the Billboard 200 and was eventually certified Platinum in the United States by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), denoting one million copies sold. A critical and commercial success, the album helped distinguish Southern hip hop as a credible hip hop scene amid East Coast and West Coast hip hop's market dominance at the time. It has since been viewed by music journalists as an important release in both hip hop and Atlanta's music scene.
