Incubus - Morning View

About Morning View by Incubus Album

Morning View is the fourth studio album by alternative rock band Incubus, released October 23, 2001. This is the band's last album to feature bassist Alex Katunich. The album has a sound that is overall softer than previous albums, especially apparent on songs such as "Echo" and "Are You In?", however, Incubus's heavier side is still evident on tracks like "Have You Ever" and "Under My Umbrella". Songs such as "Just a Phase" display more original song structures. Regarding the album's sound, guitarist Mike Einziger notes that it: "would've been really easy for us to try to replicate certain songs that did well on our last record, which we didn't do. We didn't do anything even remotely close to that. We put pressure on ourselves to make a good record because if none of us were happy with it, we'll all be miserable for the next two years while we're on tour." Five years after the album's release, an official video for the song "Circles" was released on December 3, 2006 on Sony BMG Musicbox. The record has influenced numerous younger artists, for example: Katy Perry, Pancho Pepe Jazz Band and Cute is What We Aim For bassist, Dave Melillo.

- GREAT ALBUM

this album is great.. i’ve played many of the songs its weird the ones that didn’t sell well were the better ones and theres a lot of hits on it so i recommend just get it all..

- prime.

this was the first Incubus album I've had the pleasure of owning. Incubus is a decent band with two exeptional albums. there's the start-to-finish-in-your-face-and-not-gonna-let-up S.C.I.E.N.C.E. And there's the stand-out, prime-of-career album, Morning View. A fan of the softer, more overrated Make Yourself has treats with one shadow of this Compact Disc ("Warning", "Aqueous transmission", "11 am") , and listeners of the Fungus Amoungus era have the more aggressive "Circles" or "Blood on the Ground"-esque shadow of it. I'd reccomend to get "S.C.I.E.N.C.E. first, for a good hard intro to this band, and to save this album as Best-For-Last, because Make Yourself's "Consequence" cant take on "Circles" and "I Miss You" falls very short of "Echo" or "Are you In?". In short, this is their prime, and should be treated as such. do yourself a favor: buy this album in its entirety, and leave Light Grenades alone, aside from "Anna Molly"

- Incubus - Morning View (2001)

It came out during a time when heavy rock was an "in" form of music. Upon listening, I can't help but feel that Brandon and the boys may have had some kind of identity crisis while making this. Essentially, Morning View is an alt-metal album that wants to be something less "metally." The album appeals to the masses when you see its cover... a beautiful aerial view of the California coast. The opening track, "Nice to Know You," begins with a pleasing ambience amidst some 90's-esque beat boxing and scratching. The album cover makes total sense, right? Suddenly, Mike Esinger's guitar roars with fury for about fifteen seconds. Then we're back to the ambience. So on and so forth. Throughout the album, you will get chill, happy stuff, and also angry, metallic stuff back and forth. You will hear numerous instruments, from distorted guitars to citars to violins to scratching. By the end of "Aqueous Transmission," you may feel exausted.. That being said, this is a very diverse, creative work, especially for something of that time period and genre. I would recommend "Aqueous Transmission" if you need to meditate, and songs like "Nice to Know You" for rocking out.

- Amazing Album

I listen to all kind of music, the Beatles to the Weeknd, bob Dylan to drake. This is truly an amazing album. It's a shame that this band doesn't get the respect and admiration it deserves.

- 10/10

Really good song to jam till the end

- Still takes me back...

I still listen to this album often...it's hard to believe it's been 14 years since this one hit the shelves. I'm never disappointed with Incubus's work. 💕

- Fantastic

Best album by one of the best alternative bands ever.

- Solid soundtrack

If Music is autobiographical, Incubus is the author. This is their prime, no question. Each track is a trip to memories past and future. These songs mean completely different things now than when this was released over 15 years ago.

- Love it

I grew up listening to them. I love the nostalgic feelings I get when listening to them. Brings back my childhood.

- A great mix

This album is great because it has a combination of really chill songs and then heavy songs. It is lighter than make yourself but it is just about as good!

- Nice music

The dude who sings this was probably inspired by Red Hot Chili Peppers

- Love it

I LOVE incubus. This is the best album because it is so diverse with its many heavy and light moments. I love most songs- nice to know you, wish you were here, aqueous transmission, just a phase, blood on the ground and 11 am. Ok songs- have you ever Bad songs- under my umbrella

What can I say? This album was the soundtrack of my high school years and one I still love and enjoy to this day. As far as I'm concerned it is the best Incubus album and I do own them all on cd. This is Incubus at their peak. Not a single bad track on this album. Enjoy Incubus people!

- Start to finish

Their best album from start to finish. No skipping required

- Too bad...

They don't make albums like this, you know the kind where you don't need a skip track button, because every single song is worthy of your attention and listening to them makes you smile. Great stuff.

18 years after it was released and it's still great!! Aqueous Transmission is the perfect song to end the album, I remember in college sitting on our balcony listening to this and passing you know what around...

- Awsome Album

Still every bit as good as it was years ago. Incubus rocks!!!!

- Sheer Perfection...

This album has no bad songs on it, literally. You cant just listen for hours an not have to keep hitting the skip button. Incubus has always been my favorite band, and they always will be. This album is absolutely perfect.

- What great music should sound like.

I can say this is my favorite albume of Incubus. This album truly shows what Incubus is. It also shows what five guys in a huge mansion for a period of time can do and make history. I can only wish they do this again.

- Great tune

Very stylist band

- Best album ever!

This is real music, it's like an orgasm to your ears ;)

- Timeless

What happened to bands like this?

- Still listening in 2017

This is easily one of my all time favorite albums. It reminds me of a simpler time in my life and gives me great memories. This is the type of album you can put on for those long drives home.

- Best Album

This album is honestly just amazing. The vocals, lyrics, riffs, beat are all great. My favorite songs on the album is actually the slow, chill songs. The iTunes sample may not sound out of this world, but the whole song is fantastic. Especially Just a Phase. This was the first album I ever bought by Incubus and I listened to it until I knew every single lyric and beat. THIS is Incubus' best album. Only really hardcore fans will tell you otherwise.
