Fugees - The Score

About The Score by Fugees Album

The Score is the second and final studio album by the hip hop trio Fugees, released worldwide February 13, 1996 on Columbia Records. The album features a wide range of samples and instrumentation, with many aspects of alternative hip hop that would come to dominate the hip hop music scene in the mid-late 1990s. The Score's production was handled mostly by the Fugees themselves and Jerry Duplessis, with additional production from Salaam Remi, John Fortรฉ, Shawn King, and Diamond D. The album's guest raps are from Outsidaz' members Rah Digga, Young Zee and Pacewon, as well as Omega, John Fortรฉ, and Diamond D. Most CD and import versions of the album feature four bonus tracks, including three remixes of "Fu-Gee-La", and a short acoustic Wyclef Jean solo track entitled "Mista Mista." Upon its release, The Score was a commercial success, peaking at the number one spot on both the Billboard 200, and the Top R&B/Hip Hop Albums chart. The singles "Killing Me Softly," "Fu-Gee-La," and "Ready or Not" also achieved notable chart success, and helped the group achieve worldwide recognition. On October 3, 1997, The Score was certified 7X's platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). In addition to receiving mostly favorable reviews upon its release, the album has garnished a considerable amount of acclaim over the years, with many music critics and publications noting it as one of the greatest hip hop albums of all time, and also one of the greatest albums of the 1990s. In 1998, the album was included in The Source's 100 best rap albums list, and in 2003, it was ranked number 477 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.

- Definitely one of the best hip-hop albums of all-time!!

No questions asked. RIP to the Fugees. Their careers died in the 90's and robbed us of many more classics. What could have been. Unfortunately, we will never know.

- I can't even!

This is amazing I'm in love with Lauryn's majestic voice!

- A true classic

- One track solidifies the greatness of this album.

Killin Me Softly. Top 10 hip hop track of all time imo.

- Forgot how awful it is!!

We just found this album again on vinyl at target for $8. We remembered killing me softly but forgot about how vulgar & just flat out awful this is!! It just helps you remember how rap is not music!! If it wasnโ€™t for Killing Me Softly & it being $8, we would have left it!! This album was the third best selling of 1996 & has actually sold $7,000,000, (not 18 million) but it again shows how people have not had taste in music for decades now!!

- Great album by a legendary group

I was 3 years old when this came out but it's still one of my favs and what I consider REAL hip/hop

- None better

Memorized this CD. Every song. One of the best albums of all time.

- A must have

Real HIP HOP stop all the other nonsense, other then this it's WU-TANG B.I.G. NAS BIG L RAW KIM BIG PUN

- Yess

This Will Forever Be The Best CD I Had

- Eating my words

Okay, so nearly 20 years ago when this came out I never gave it a chance, because radio/MTV played the hell out of "Killing me softly". While I recognized the talent, I hated that song. Now in 2015, this album is still highly listenable, and really well produced with talented artist. Honestly, people kiss Tupacs butt, but some of his old school stuff sounds old. This stuff is still as good as the music today, if not better. ๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿพ

- Still strong

2014 this album this fire, true MC's and master producers. Will we ever see the Golden Age come back? Joey Bada$$ and Frank Castle are trying to restore it but radios won't support it. Overall great album, WE WANT THIS STYLE of MUSIC BACK.

- A Definate SCORE!

What Could I Say About Wyclef, Pras and Lauryn Hill's Refugee Camp That Hasn't Already Been Said! While It's No Disrespect To like Whiz Khalifa or Childish Gambino But They Aren't On The Level of Fugees The Score! If Only Lauryn Hill Could Get Out of Her Haze And Get The Fugees Back In Motion!

- Amazing..

This just reaffirms the fact that 90s music was the best era of music hands down.

- ๐Ÿ˜‘๐Ÿ‘

Nicely done

- Genius

This is a great album, bar none. One of the best hip hop albums ever.

- Best Album Ever

Period!

- Best of all time

I love it.still the best

- Great album

Wiz tweeted about this album so I checked it out and I'm glad I did this is the best album I've listened to

- No Thanks

I've read several articles about Lauryn Hill and MTV. Based on what I've read, l don't believe Ms. Hill's denial that she made racist comments about white people. I'll pass.

- The most perfect album of all time

When I bought this album at 18, I had no idea how wonderful it was. I know now, 20 years later that it is perfect. Itโ€™s timeless. I listen to it at least a couple times a year, and every word, every lyric, every rhyme id perfect.

- Dude this is just fire and all that stuff

Those were the good days. I remember when hip-hop was fire like this. Hip hop today is just not as interesting

- basically perfect album

- I love this album!!

One of the best albums to date. Every song on the album is great!!

- Smartest and most meaningful hip hop album I've heard

Over a decade later and lauryn is still the best

- Fugees Till 4Ever

2015 and I still bump to this album. Iโ€™m 22 years old, timeless music. Just love this album, had to write a review on it.

- Another Classic by the Fugees

From one great Album to another the Fugees bring there A-Game again with this (The Score) album with not one bad song. There nothing negative I can say about this album. Each member of the Fugees add something great to this album, yes even Pras added something to make this album so good. One thing that makes this album so good is that each member get's their chance to shine on the album. It's like being part of a really good talented basketball team and everyone is sharing the ball giving everyone one their spot light. Yes we all know that the the Fuggess had two popular songs off this album of "Ready or Not", and "Killing me Softly". But they had other good songs as well, like "Cowboy", "The Mask", and "No Woman, No Cry" which is a cover up song from Bob Marley orignial version.

- Anthem of the Summer of 96

Still love all these songs on this album!

- Reminiscing

Brings me immediately back to childhood with its iconic beats and on-point lyrics. Arguably the best album of all time...

- i luv this album my fav song is no woman no cry

i luv this album my fav song is no woman no cry

- Bobby Bee on the "Score"

Landmark CD in the landscape of Hip-Hop/Neo-Soul! Each Artist a star in their own right - Wyclef, Lauryn & Pras. Our loss was they only lasted this ONE CD - Get it!

- Awesome Music

Thank you iTunes for telling me about some good clean rap that I can understand. I like the cover of Killing Me Softly. I have not heard any other songs yet.

- Amazing

The music nowadays doesn't last very long because it doesn't resonate with people. But this, this is timeless.

- A Classic

Not sure why people are complaining about this hurting their ears & this album being weak. If you grew up during the humble beginnings of hip-hop to then the mainstream push it had in the 90s then this would be on your owned list. A classic album that finally pushed the Fugees to the mainstream after struggling with their first attempt & spawned three separate solo albums along with a few Grammys. If you don't get it, you don't get it.

- The Old Will Never Die

It's amazing and challenging at the same time that hip-hop classics like these go overlooked. Then again, two decades of "music" on top of this great content will do that. Wyclef Jean completlely flipped the game on its side coming from Haiti, moving into New York, creating The Score out of a musky basement and then going on to impact his country as much as he did. This also catapulted Lauryn Hill's career into what it amounted to. All in all, a phenominal piece of work that more kids these days need to re-listen to to truly understand what great hip-hop music was and can still be.

- Bastille

Who is here because of bastilles dan smith

- Yassssss

My fav killing me softly with his song LONG LIVE FUGEES!!!!!!!!!!!

- classic
