S.C.I.E.N.C.E is the last of the Incubus albums I listened to. I kind of started with the new stuff and as i became more and more interested, I downloaded this first Incubus CD. It starts out with three incredibly versatile alternative metal songs (thats the best genre I think you can put on this CD, its so different from anything else) that literally had me glued to the computer. Vitamin is easily the best song on the album. Glass and Certain Shade later on into the album made me glad I picked it up as well. This is one of my favorite albums ever, and I just got it like a week ago. DONT THINK ABOUT IT JUST GET IT

- Great Find

Incubus is by far my favorite band. I found them through Light Grenades, and I liked it, but I guess I was too young to become a fan by listening to their old albums... (I was a toddler when they came out). But I started listening to this album, and I fell in love with it, even though I am not usually a fan of funk metal. I love that they have such versatility in their music; they are one of the best bands out there. I'm really glad that I found this album, and Incubus. This album is too underrated, in my opinion; it's so excellent. My favorite tracks are "New Skin", "Vitamin", "A Certain Shade of Green", "Summer Romance (Anti-Gravity Love Song)", and "Redefine".

Comparing and album such as their “If Not Now, When?” To this is like comparing The Beatles to Static-X. This is so much heavier and diverse and now they sound like a country club band. I just hope they’re happy with how they sound now though!

I will never forget watching incubus open for 311 and hating the incubus set. My friend and I listened to the sample tape from Science that was handed out after the show. I think we were not ready for the sound in concert but we loved the songs on the tape and became big fans. We would take our Gfs to shows around the Midwest and the fans are pretty good people

This album is real Incubus, along with Make Yourself and Morning View. Then Dirk left. Just give it a chance and it will become your favorite album for awhile. It is a lot of brilliance to take in. Also, whoever wrote the album summary is not an Incubus fan. Just Buy it.

iTunes needs someone new to write these reviews. It is not a "bongo" its called a djembe, its an african drum and a "bongo" doesn't even exist since they usually come with two little drums that are attatched. duh. I dislike whoever is writing the reviews for this incredible band's CD's. They are doing them absolutely no justice and coming nowhere close to actually reviewing and making people want to buy these albums.

- Their Best Work

Ok first off this is a great album and if you are planning on buying it don't buy it off of itunes get it at a best buy or something like i did first of all it only cost $7.00 and not $9.00 second of all if you think that you are missing out on the bonus track um... well let me just say your not it says that you only have 12 tracks and not 13 but when you upload it to itunes the final track "Calgone" is actually 16:03 minutes and not 5:13 because they just added the bonus track to the end of it plus you still get an additional minute added to the track as well. And finaly you also get a free bonus video for a "Certain Shade of Green" and if your computer crasses you don't have to repurchase the album which is alway a plus for having the actual cd. This is probably Incubus's best album its amazing every track is just full of energy. Once agian i stress to buy this album at a store. Buy it the way it was meant to be bought!

I dont think this is their best album, but A Certain Shade of Green is epic. Certainly better than anything Limp Bizkit has ever made.

This is definitely one of my favorite albums of all time. Every song on this album does not disappoint at all. this album pretty much has funk, metal, jazz all rolled into one. Definitely a must buy.

This album is by far the best of Incubus. I purchased this album about 5 weeks ago. I had all the Incubus albums (not including EP's, live, or Enjoy Incubus because I dnt own them) except for this one and had no idea what I was missing out on. I'd say buy this album at Best Buy, it comes with 'A Certain Shade of Green' video for free and costs $7.99. Older Incubus was more of a funk rock band than alternative. S.C.I.E.N.C.E. is a blend between Make Yourself and Fungus Amongus. Anyway, it's a great album. Better than some of their new stuff (Light Grenades is too mainstream, a lot from "Crow Left" doesn't appeal to me much), and this is when Incubus was pure hard rock. Try this one out!

this experimental record exceeds the mainstream standards of todays popular acts like britney spears, backstreet boys, and Nsync. HAHAHA it Grows on you like butter on bread. This is the most far out out there album you will ever put your hands on. Every True incubus fan knows this album was their prime high point of clear creativity through experimenting. Long live the long lasting Incubus

- Bunglebus

Yea this is by far their best full-length cd (the Fungus Amongus EP is good too). Very versatile with alot of heavy riffs, something Incubus abondoned after this album...and they've sucked ever since. But if your handing out trophies for originality, they dont deserve it. We've heard this type of genre-bending music before by Mike Patton and Mr. Bungle 10 years prior, in fact, that's obviously where Incubus got their playbook for their first few albums. Unfortunately, now they sound like Jack Johnson (hork, gag)!? Shameful waste of talent. Overall, SCIENCE is cool, but if you want the real deal, get Mr. Bungle's first self-titled album, go straight to the source. Far better than Incubus, or System of A Down or any of these other Bungle-theiving bands.

Brandon Boyd isn't human... he's a Musical God. All Incubus albums are fantastic in their own right, but this album is their spine. This album could only be more perfect if it were twice as long. I hope when I die this is the album that's playing. Yeah, it's that friggin awesome.

- Incubus's most musical and insightful album

^In my opinion of course. I recieved this album as a gift for my birthday from a close friend of mine and it was definatly my 2nd favorite gift! (my first was Eric Clapton concert tickets if anybody is curious) This album has amazing guitar,bass,drum, and vocal work. People think this album isnt' musical but from a musician's perspective, i can tell you that it is. Odd time signatures, key changes, you name it. I love the basic theme of this album which is "Be yourself, don't be controlled." The thing I love most though is the guitar work. Mike is one of the most unique guitar players I've ever heard. So yeah, if you like non mainstream music with awesome themes and other worldly instrument playing, Get this album. Seriously. Get off your computer chair and get it.

If you are a incubus fan then this is a must have. Unfortanately I lost interest after make yourself, all there songs started to sound the same to me and there is no more explosiveness to there songs but this album has it all! Listen to the bass track half way into redefine, effing brilliant!!!!

s.c.i.e.n.c.e. is lyrically stunning, brilliantly hard hitting, and stylistically diverse. this album is a f**cking miracle. by far my favorite. the band peeked with this album, and unfortunately has failed to produce another work of art that rattles your brain quite as effectively as s.c.i.e.n.c.e. does.

S.C.I.E.N.C.E. was the first CD I ever bought. I bought it when I was 7 years old because of my love of bass. Dirk Lance's sick basslines make this album magical.

S.C.I.E.N.C.E is the very reason that Incubus is my favorite band. It truly is like nothing I have ever heard. Four years after buying it I still listen to the entire album at least once a week. If you aren't a fan of the newer Incubus then you might still like this album, because it is a completely different sound than any other Incubus album. Here's a breakdown of each song: Redefine (9): This song is probably the closest that Incubus ever really got to being a Nu metal band. It starts out with an african drum beat lead by Brandon boyd on the djembe and goes straight into this really heavy jam followed by some really great lyrics by Boyd. Vitamin (7): Not my favorite song on the album, probably just because I have heard it so many times. But it is one of their more popular songs from this album and is a really great rock song. New Skin (10): This song is the sole reason that Incubus is my favorite band. Idiot Box (8): Great song, really fun to jam to if you are into playing music. Glass (9.5): Another one of my favorite Incubus songs, really different and interesting. But it does make me miss Dirk Lance, the bassist for this album. Magic Medicine (9): It took me a few listens to really like this song, because it is a turntable jam, but it is a really interesting weird song with a really awesome bass part. A Certain Shade of Green (8): Really great song, but I actually like the acoustic version better. Favorite Things (7): This used to be one of my favorite songs on the album, but now that I listen to it more, it doesn't seem very "Incubus". Summer Romance (Anti-Gravity Love Song) (10): This song just kind of makes you double-take because it is very chill and jazzy. This is hands down, my favorite Incubus song, because it just doesn't fit in with the rest of the album almost to a humorous extent. Nebula (9): This song is very hectic and weird, but is a great example of what makes Incubus such a great band. It sounds like they are sampling three different songs throughout which gives it a really cool sound. Deep Inside (9.5): Really fun song that any stoner can relate too. Great guitar part, it really shows how versitile Mike Einziger is. Calgone (10): I really can't say enough to do this song justice. It is a masterpiece of rock and roll.

A great album! Their best. Rock/Rap done right. Limp Bizkit and 311 got nothing on Incubus. Saw them live in Wetland's NYC, when they were first started out, along with the Phunk Junkeez. the lead singer was crazy on the djembe!

I find myself enjoying this more than other albums even though i've heard it the most. It's more creative/experimental, hard-rocking, varied and interesting than the newer albums. Basically, this album's a blast! especially new skin, certain shade of green, vitamin, and summer-romance.

S.C.I.E.N.C.E. is what makes Incubus. Their roots lie in this album, and there is no greater one song for song. It's heavy but still funky like Fungus Amongus, which is awesome. This, along with their next two, Make Yourself and Morning View, are the band's big three albums. This is a must buy.

Personally one of my favorite albums, I also love how they change each album, it shows how creative they are as a band, and it shows their music genius. For all of you hating saying they should have stayed making the same heavy music their whole career obviously dont understand creativity, but what would Incubus look like being in their mid 30's still playing funk in 2011, uhh the wouldn't be a band anymore, so stop hating and enjoy every sound that these guys create because its amazing, Go INCUBUS!!!

- Good album but not there best work in my opinion

I first got into Incubus listening to there "Morning View" and "A Crow..." albums. I went on to purchase their catalog from this album to their latest 'Monuments & Melodies' and there isn't an Incubus album I don't enjoy. There later material is much different than S.C.I.E.N.C.E though, it's clear they have become "lighter" and this album is much harder (and funkier) than their recent work. I have eclectic musical tastes so heaviness in music doesn't deter me, on the contrary in fact as I listen to a lot of music in the metal genre but the reason I give this album 3 stars (I wish I could have given it 3.5) is that parts of it are disjointed and fall flat. There are songs here that are impressive but at the same time there are others that just don't work for me. I think the band really matured after this album and 'Make Yourself' demonstrates this maturity and heightened musicianship which results in a more cohesive sound that has become there signature. This is a cool album...it's just not as good as others in the Incubus discography.

althought i enjoy the newer incubus albums...up to a certain point...this is hands down the best incubus album ever recorded. i have bought this album three times...twice on cd...and then once on itunes. i literally listened to the cds so much, that my pc couldn't even rip them. hopefully the digital version will last. all i can say is, if you claim to be an incubus fan, this is an absolute essential album!

nothing like u have ever heard! this album has truly original sounds in everysong and is by far the bands best album. this album shows the bands hip hop and drum and bass infulcences but with the clean crisp guitar riffs that make u want to listen to it over and over again.

A Certain Shade of Green and Favourite Things are by far in opinion the two best songs on this album. The others are quite good but not like the average Incubus genre like on the albums Light Grenades, Morning View and A Crow Left of the Murder. If you don't know what Incubus is like buy Light Grenades for your first album.
