RhaeL - The Church of Brandi
People have been known to cross oceans and continents to watch Brandi Carlile and her band of boys perform live; this EP leaves little doubt as to why. Nothing quite compares to the wall of sound this band produces--the way it breaks and swells above your head. Special guest Gibb Droll smokes the stage mid-song on what is almost always a show-stopper at Brandi shows: "Folsom Prison Blues." The song is an event in and of itself, and Gibb lifts their already timeless sound to new heights. But it's a little song called "The Story" that's always the crowd favorite. In the seconds before she launches into her biggest note of the evening, Brandi calmly picks a spot on the back wall that no one else can see and then her face contourts in anguish as she catapaults her voice through the air, past that wall and out into the night. It is a blistering moment of greatness, and this EP is only a brief glimpse.

I wish there was a way to explain the great emotion that their music evokes in me. I have always been a lover of deep lyrics and sound. I have downloaded all their music and heard them live. I have NEVER been one to obess over anything thing before, but Brandi Carlile has everything I need to make my day a better day. Even if I am blue, its the best medicine!! I love the way she (they) can find a way to release this pressure within me. When I listen, which I do often, I am momentarily at ease. I can let go, cry and say f you to it all. Thank you immensely!
Redneck1st - She Ruined A Good Country Song
You talk about someone who shouldn't have a record deal. She ruined a great country song. Folsom Prison Blues is a great Country song and she showed that she sure can't sing it or anything else. She should be paying folks to listen to her trash. She's screechy.

I discovered Brandie on itunes from her very first cd. She has been my favorite since and still is. That was before everyone was playing her songs and before they were playing her one the radio! Saw her live in Minneapolis and it was the BEST concert we had ever been too. So go see her live, buy all her albums, and remember to buy on the basis of what really moves you. Not what everyone else goes after. She will be around a long time.

Brandi and the band never cease to amaze me. These live versions of the songs really show off their skill and really make you appreciate their talent. My own assesment of the tracks: Have You Ever- This is a good version of the song, I feel the crowds' enthusiasm adds to its charm. What Can I Say- At fisrt when I listened I was slightly disapointed when the music suddenly cuts and they allow the crowd to sing without her for a few lines because I love her voice, but then I realized it speaks volumes of how famous they are getting if the whole audience knows the words. ^.^ The Story- I think it's better than the studio recording (which I really love), you can really feel her singing her heart out. Folsom Prison Blues- I'd been dying for a recording of this song since I heard her play it live, and I got my wish, this is a cover that freaking rules. Josephine- A nice quiet version, its hard to tell it's live the audience is so silent. Some good shots of the band as well. Overall, I'm quite glad I purchased this. The more I hear of them, the more I love them and the more I want.<3 Brandi Carlile Band<3

Not only do I love Brandi, but I love Brandi Live! and I love getting to hear a few covers that you can only normally catch at shows (like Folsom and Creep). Gibb Droll playing on Folsom rocks my face off. And Brandi and the boys do too.

this is AMAZING. if you have any other songs by brandi you'll love this. she puts so much passion into her songs and it shows. the story live is 10x better than recorded in a studio and the story live and that's hard to top. most artists can produce in the studio but not many can produce live. buy it!!
