A great recording front to back, well done. Very much so a smooth compilation of style, emotion and thought. Can't wait to see it live.
All I have to say is that mark did a great job on this album. "alive" is my favorite track by far, but all of the tracks are very well thought out and as usual, blended with the traditional farina attention to detail and quality. A+ !
This is a CD that I love listening to, I recommend it! Very cool!!!
An assortmant of light sophisticated platefulls of jazz mastery served up with an eye on presentation as well as content. Many different genres of upbeat jazz are presented. Ideal for the person who is looking to get their feet wet before taking the plunge. Come on in the waters fine. The music here is mainly melodic with occasional short dives into the abstract. The 'Transit' track by Colossus seems to be the most abstract of the collection. However the opening track "This Beat' by The Jazzual Suspects' is my favorite This album is a keeper. Five Stars.
Mark Farina has the temerity to declare this music Jazz...thats either extremely naive or disingenuous. I often read strange staff reviews on iTunes that make me wonder where these writers get their credentials. I actually like some of the downtempo electronica thats out there, very cool nice sounds... but it is what is and it is not what it is not. This particular series I wouldn't even give the benefit of doubt and call it "Jazz influenced"...this music has absolutely NOTHING to do with Jazz...not even a distant cousin. Jazz takes many forms on a broad spectrum of expression, there are so many styles and genres within the genre that it is, sometimes indefinable... even the great Miles Davis experimentations pushed the envelope so far it was cause for controversy. But this ...LOL.
it was well worth the wait. what an amazing release! thank you mark farina and om records for coming through once again!
Man, it's been a couple years since the last Mushroom Jazz dropped. My high expectations have been exceeded as Farina has enlisted some of the best producers and mc's to be featured on this comp. Starting off on the mellow-er side of things, Farina quickly picks up the momentum by track 3 and keeps it up till close to the end when it softens again. This is a true mix!! My favorite tracks are The What, Wasn't Really Worth My Time, and Ba Dada. I can't wait for the vinyl to come out so i can get these songs unmixed.
Looking back at my collection of Mushroom Jazz cd's 2 through 6, I have to say that this is by far one of his smoothest CD. Don't sleep on this one!
This album is almost like a "Best Of", because a few songs sound like some of the best from the series. For example: "Baaaby" is a lo-fi groove like "Remember Me", "Alive" is almost like "Afros In Ya" only better, and "Life" is an acoustic bass centered song like "Truth In Position" By Maspyke from Vol. 4. All and All, It seems to be more refined than the rest in the series. This is a truly great production. Thank you Mark Farina and Om Records!
If you're hesitating on buying this album, hesitate no further. This volume in the Mushroom Jazz series stands out as an instant hit! The track selection and arrangement was so tastefully done, you never feel the need to skip over anything. As expected, the tone set for the album stays smooth and mellow, and keeps your head nodding. Mark's approach on this album is unique, tried, tested, and true for all fans of the series. Lastly, itunes scores big with the decision to give you all the track selections instead of combining it into a continuous mix. A definite 5 star album!
I was glad to buy this album on CD, instead of downloading it, but I need to complete some more of Mushroom Jazz volumes 1-5 so I recently got Vol. 6 first to listen to the entire time and liked it so much!! I'm gonna finish buying more of those trip-hop, R&B, jazz, hip hop & house music for my music collection when I have completed 1000 songs!
Enjoyably different than each other MJ album. Mark Farina is extremely consistent with the quality of this series. This album has more of the distant brass instruments and generally more mellow qualities than the others. I'll be listening to it all day for many days to come.
I love Mark Farina's Mushroom Jazz series. Brings me back! Can't believe there is a new one out! This has been the best bday present ever!
I have been a fan of Farina for years and have all of his albums. This albums brings the soul back the series and you will be bobbin your head for days! Please buy this I promise you will not be dissapointed! Om records for life.
Wow, its great to see that mark farina is back with another mushroom jazz and on top of that, it is at #1 on itunes. it's not often, you can hear these kind of beats on a album that reaches the top of sales charts. more importantly, its great to see that this legendary series is still going on since the mid 1990's. farina is definately the master of smooth blends with awesome selections but my favorite on this album have to be Groovin' by Kero One and Baaaby by tarrach. highly recommeneded!
Excellent compilation... Groovin' (track 4) is my favorite tune of the moment - puts me in a good mood everytime.
Xquisito...me encanta esta serie Mushroom Jazz..!
It’s very rare that I buy entire recordings these days. After checking out the samples of this latest Mark Farina compilation, I'm buying Mushroom Jazz 6. Twenty good acid/nu jazzy tracks for $9.99 = no-brainer.
I've been a fan of Mushroom Jazz since 1994, and have enjoyed every one (including the mix tapes)! With that said, Mushroom Jazz 6 continues the Mark Farina legacy in fine form. As always, Mark introduces a ton of new artists into the mix that only he knows about. I love newcomers, The Jazzual Suspects, they set the vibe for the whole album perfectly. Other stand outs for me are Colossus' The What and of course Mark Farina 'Life.' I love the live instrumentation and how it mixes perfectly w/ the beats! Great work Mark and thank you for keeping it bumping for fifteen years.
Slow & Deep sound of this CD making you slide down in the world of Soul and Chill music... I was really surprised, cause I'm not in love with Hip-Hop.... but THIS compilation makes me really happy when I'm sad...
Mark Farinas Mushroom Jazz is classic thanks for puting this out, a must have for sure!
It's all about "Groovin" track 4 baby! Mark Farina delivers every time. Check out Kero One's other albums like "Color Theory" or Early Believers Instrumentals..they're awesome!

He’s still the best. Do it, buy it, you won't be disappointed.
Anyone who enjoyed Guru’s “Jazzamatazz” series will love this.
If you cant mix the tracks, dont bother. I would rather this was a Compilation than poor mixing

Check out a few of these tracks, definetley wort it. Not much stuff like this out there nowadays, well..not mainstream anyway.
This is so chilled. Great blend of jazzy, funky, soulful songs. I'd love to hear this kinda music played in bars late into the night instead of the usual commercial stuff.
