- Winter Songs

I thought this album was nice. I wish they included Regina Spektor's "December" on the album. Then the album would have been amazing. Fiona Apple's song was playful and fun. I thought Katy Perry's version of White Christmas was interesting. I thought her voice sounded so much better than in her other songs. She brought out a nice rasp and sexuality in her voice but I don't think its appropriate for this song. I don't really like it but I don't think its that bad either. I think she should sing like that in more of her songs.

I downloaded this for the sole fact that Fiona Apple was on it. I liked every other song except for Ms.Perry. That song was enough to make me cry from how horrid it was. Take that song out, and its perfect. :)

- Winter is not the same as Christmas...

Hearing people say that these songs are not prepare emotionaly for the holidays is making me hate stupid people even more. Sure, the holidays are a joyous time of year, BUT winter, as all of its architypes suggest, is a sad, cold, dark, depressing time of year. These songs have winter written all throughout the lyrics.

i would've given this five stars if they hadn't included katy perry's take on white christmas. it was awful im sorry to say. the highlight of the entire album would have to be winter song or all my bells are ringing. but mistletoe, the heartache can wait, and maybe next year are done amazingly as well. i listen to winter song year round and it brings tears to my eyes each time. i wish i could give this album five stars. however this is the best holiday album out there, i suggest you buy it whether its just for the holidays or all year. you can listen to this album all the time, no matter the time of year (: .

- Some Really Good Songs

While this CD has a few lackluster songs on it, the ones that are good are REALLY good(take Winter Song, for example). Overall, it's a great buy, the good outweighs the bad significantly.

- New Favorite Christmas Album :)

Wow. All these artists perform exceptionally. Minus Katy Pery what on Earth was she thinking? She pretty much ruined the whole album. ON the other hand, Brandie Carlile, Lenka, Sara Bareilles, and Ingrid Michaelson? Amazing!!!

Not your typical Christmas music, this album is more soulful and pensive. I love the variety! While there are a few traditional Christmas songs, they aren’t just another pop start doing a cover, but something totally new.

I don't want to buy the whole album...but in order to get KT Tunstall's Sleigh Ride (which is driving me nuts because it is so amazing and catchy) I have to buy the album....and I don't want to pay to listen to Katy Perry groan "White Christmas" for three minutes. The other songs sound mediocre to good, but I'm still debating whether or not to just get it. Alice Smith's Silver Bells sounds a little painful for me too :(

Like most music. Katy Perry........................I LOVE YOU but honey you should have made the White Christmas your version of the song not trying to be Bing Crosby. More Pop music in that for Katy and that would have made it MUCH better.

I purchased Winter Songs based on the list of singers and the iTunes review. I should have previewed the songs instead. I really don't like any of them. The arrangements and stylization of the songs range from being sarcastically condescending to downright depressing, neither of which I want from a Christmas album. There's no warmth or holiday cheer or spiritual depth to this album at all. I would not recommend it.

One of my favorite Christmas albums. If you only download one song from this album, choose "Wintersong" by Ingrid and Sarah. Absolutely stunning.

I never heard any singer BUTCHER White Christmas before. Absolutely terrible. I can't believe it actually made it on the album.

Katy Perry sounded like she was croaking to white Christmas it was awful! She should have stuck to a song that would have complemented her voice. Other songs were okay, sleigh ride is album only!! Grr!

- Happy Holidays

Overall a great holiday album :) Definitely agree with the other reviews on Katy Perry, ruining a classic. I love listening to the album on repeat, but I always skip that one. Lenka's 'All my bells will be ringing' is so catchy! It will be playing in your head all day! Love it!

- Some Good, Some Bad... the usual, right?

So... Christmas albums are already a sort of kitschy area of music. It's something that well-established bands do when they feel comfortable enough, but not comfortable enough to write new music. It's also something beloved of child artists (as puppets of corporate sponsors who believe this will promote a cute, innocent image). This is neither of the two -- a collection of various artists performing both traditional and contemporary winter (Let's be PC here, we can't say "Christmas") melodies. The low points are, as everyone before me has pointed out, Katy Perry's floptastic "White Christmas." Some, like "All My Bells are Ringing," "Mistletoe," and "Silver Bells" seem washed out and overproduced... The high points are the beautifully stark "Winter Song," the amazing "Auld Lang Syne" (although I may just be a huge fan of the song), and my personal favorite, the all-over winner "Maybe Next Year" by Meiko.

i love this album! its so great! i just have one problem, and thats katy perry. im not hating on her or anything, i personally really like her, but she sounds very bad on the album. i think white christmas just wasnt in her range. but overall, beautiful!

- Moments of absolute brilliance

This compilation is an interesting blend of the ok all the way up to the truly perfect. There are no truly bad songs on here. Most of the tunes are just pleasant background holiday fare. There are few individual voices on here. But when there is a track with a stand out voice, the result is a new standard christmas song. Winter Song and Mistletoe are arrestingly perfect and almost as amazing as Bing's White Christmas or Nat's Christmas song. Heartache Can Wait is just one tier below that. Truly a great song. Catherine Feeny's version of Christmas Song is one of the better covers of the song i've heard. Most don't do the song justice, but this one does.There are a few weak songs like Meiko's song. Just isnt Christmasy. Overall, though, one of the best compilation Christmas albums of all time.

- Frosty by Fiona

An enchanting and lilting rendition of a song whose rehash will surely become an all time holiday favorite. Fiona sounds like she is in your room and her accompanist hammers along in perfect accord with the voice. The story is brought alive in the song and has that vitality that Gene Kelley's "Singin' in the Rain" presents to you. You might find that yourself whistling in unison with all the quirky intonation Fiona gives it and remembering it for hours afterwards. 5 Stars, buy it!

I listened to the preview of some of the songs but in the end I think I bought for Colbie Caillat's song. I really enjoy her song, "Mistletoe" but the rest of the songs I could do without- I was a bit bummed with it actually. That is my two cents worth :) Cheers- and happy holidays.

- Let's everyone sing a little slower

Some of these songs are better than others, but most of them sound as if the only thing the artist could think to do to make the song their own was to sing it slowly and at an odd pace. Quite depressing.

Oh my gosh i llllloooooovvvvvveeeee winter song soooooooo much!!! Its sooooo beautiful! At least buy winter song sooooo pretty! Im at a dance studio and the older girls dance to this and its so cool i love it! WINTER SONG!!!!!! <3

- The Heartache Can Wait

For me, this song combines all the mixed emotions that can sometimes come with the holiday season when the days are short, dark and cold, but filled with music and sparkling lights. While there's always the hope of a magical, spiritual, and joyous winter and Christmas, all adults know that some years things just don't work out that way. The Heartache Can Wait captures the feeling of the holiday season and a little winter sadness at the same time, which makes it a special and honest song in my book.

- MEIKO sings Like NOBODY

"Maybe Next Year" is one sexy, fantastic song, and Meiko pours it on. Wow,.......different.......outstanding This if the first time I heard her..it was played on "Mob Doctor" when the Dr. and Franco were finally "together" again, and I immediately purchased the song!

I listen to this cd all year around! That's how much I love it! The best Christmas cd out there!

- Mistletoe

I love this album. It's very wintery and just gets you in the mood for Christmas. I recommend "Mistletoe" by Colbie Caillat and "Winter Song" by Sara Barielles and Ingrid Michaelson. Both are fantastic!

- great, but katy perry is not at her best here

sad thing that she didn't do so well on 'white christmas'. it's a soulful sort of song, but it was never meant to be forceful and she seems to really be forcing it. shame.i can see her doing a song like 'last christmas' or 'what child is this?'--something with a bit more gusto that's suited to her style. this was just the wrong choice for her. anyways, other than that, no complaints. 'sleigh ride' by KT tunstall is loads of fun, and 'winter song' is really lovely. 'silent night' is absolutely arresting. if you buy nothing else, please buy that one song. 'winter song' and 'silent night' are my two favorites, but most everything is lovely. merry christmas/happy holidays/happy winter solstice/peace on earth to you, thanks for reading my review :)

I love this album!! It has all the classics with a nice twist so they aren't just the same old version done by a different artist! Katy's version of white Christmas is def not the best version I've ever heard but I like that she took a chance :)

Winter Song by Sara Bareilles and Ingrid Michaelson is excellent. That was the only song I got. I searched for Sara Bareilles and saw the song so I bought it but of course it wouldnt let me comment for some reason on the song so i had to comment on the album but GET WINTER SONG!!!! I love both singers and this song is great!:)

It sounded like she recorded it in her kitchen but she's not bad at singing it. If it was just more tuned (not autotuned) but cleaned up in a studio it could actually be pretty good. It literally sounds like she recorded it herself
