Just Whitney is the fifth studio album by Whitney Houston, released on November 27, 2002, by Arista Records. It's her first albumto be released after re-signing her contract with Arista in 2001 for $100 million, the largest recording contract for a female artist at the time.

Like somebody else said, this is not her best CD; in fact, it's average for me. But I'm just in LOVE with the song Try It On My Own; it's very beautiful and inspiring, and of course, her vocal is always fantastic; I'd say this song is almost just as good as any of her super hits!

I have seen Whitney Houston in concert in Biloxi, MS! She performed over two and a half hours, in the round! You saw the now infamous sweating she does, but I just thought it was bc she was in a black leather form fitting peplum type jacket and slim fitting skirt above the knees showing off her incredible legs! I used to think it was no fair to be gorgeous, beautiful million dollar smile with gorgeous teeth, a body like a supermodel and could probably eat whatever without having to worry about it bc she had a very fast metabolism clearly and an exquisite voice! A voice unlike anyone else!!! She left nothing on that stage too! I’m curious if other people thought like me, when I thought OMG, she sang it better live than how she recorded it! I mean to have that voice and blow us all away with her songs, but to make them so much better live? Lots of performers can’t sing as well live bc they need auto tune. We just didn’t know about auto tune in the 80’s. She didn’t need it. It was probably hard for her to contain all that she could do with one song when it had to be recorded the agreed upon way! She should have done a live album of her hits. I’m not aware of one but if she did, please tell me! Also Whitney was under the age of 50 when she died! What a talent lost way too soon! Sorry but I think Cissy was jealous of her talent bc she was living Cissy’s dream! Cissy won’t admit it but I think that is why she was so hard on her, that and the fact that she was in love with her best friend Robin! Bobby knew it that’s why he treated her so bad and did everything to flaunt that he screwed her whenever he wanted, not her anymore! Cissy also didn’t like Bobby! He wasn’t good enough and made no bones about that! She also lost control of her when she married Bobby!
the Babyface produced songs saved this record. "Try It On My Own" is great track but her version of "You Light Up My Life" saves this album 4 me i mean ...wow! the way she sings it 2 me is more gospel & u just feel the emotion n her voice. Leave it 2 Whitney & Babyface 2 turn this classic n 2 something beautiful...bravo.
I only bought 2 songs from this album. It's alright. It's not her best work though. I bought try it on my own, cause her vocals sound great in that. And you light up my life, cause she does a good job with that song too. But for the rest of the album everything is kinda awful. This is the only album she didn't work on with Clive Davis too. That kinda goes to say something. It says that those two work better together than apart. Because look at her next album after this. Not the holiday album One Wish for Christmas, the one after that. I Look to You. She worked on that with Clive and it was her first number one album since the "Bodyguard Soundtrack" in 1992 and her first number one studio album since "Whitney" in 1987. And it sold 305,000 copies in its first week.
I believe iTunes wrote the wrong release date for this album. It should read 2002. Thanks if you fix it!
The most complete Whitney album, no fillers, full of big ballads, great dancing songs, lots of attitude, overall very inspiring. A must have.
I could see the album overall not working for everyone, but Unashamed is her best work in a while and is for me the highlight of the album. Makes me glad to know she can still run a chill down my spine.

I have every cd that Whitney Houston made and there seems to be an error in the date but... This cd was released in 1998.
I am a fan. I've been a fan since I first heard those perfect pipes in 1985. I was fortunate to see Ms Houston 3 times in concert and while I would be the first to say her voice evolved over the years, it was always spectacular. Oh God...how I will miss that voice and the effortlessness with which she flew through complicated scales and hit pinnacle highs! Ms Houston, as i'm sure you have heard from others, had that rare ability to send goosebumps up your spine and release those endorphins into your brain! After you have heard these tracks, pick up her latest studio album "I Look To You" and begin to appreciate just how hard she worked her craft, so that you would always be inspired and moved. Whitney Houston was always true to herself. True to her music. And she was true with her fans...however you feel about that is unimportant, because in the end...her music was TRUTH.
This album was definitely overshadowed by her personal issues at the time. This album is far from her best but definitely isn’t as bad as some may have said. It’s an R&B album from the early 2000s and the sound wasn’t bad for the time. At least the album was able to hit platinum status.
The year I graduated in 2002 this cd was release. My favorite tracks One of those Days, Love that Man... Shoot the cd is sweet

Another cd by the Princess of Pop that I've owned for YEARS and never really listened to ('One Wish-Christmas cd being the other)...Not bad, quite a few nice cuts on there.. Just adds to the legacy.

Man I Wish There Was Another Album in 2012 But Sadly Her Legacy Reigns on in the glorious heavens above. First, why is the release dated listed as 1998 for this 2002 product? This is a decent Whitney album for die-hard fans. The lead single, One of those days, received considerable airplay. I was surprised by the cover of Debby Boone's "You light up my life" and Whitney did a good job. It could have been better but enjoyable. Overall, the cd is good.

Love songs like "One of those days, Love that man,and Tell me no". Wish she would do some like this in the future. They are still current and good beat to dance to. I also like the beat and style of "Whatchalookin at"
Her voice sounds like the My love is your Love CD and her voice seemed to be maturing at this point. Overall a very good album.
Simply amazing songs on here. Too bad that the promos didn't help her, but you can tell that her songs and voice were maturing. Don't listen to the haters, but personally, I think this was her best work.

Mid-tempo crud that refused to let any light or spirit into the proceedings. This is easily her worst album, and it rightfully bombed.
iTunes has it as a 1998 release when it was actually a 2002 release, please fix that.
