This side project by Negative Format frontman Alex Mathieu and various artists from within the electronic and industrial scene is something we desperately need more of. All are phenominal songs, but, the highlights for me were: Drowning feat. vocals by Clint Carney of System Syn/Imperative Reaction, Deleted Scenes feat. vocals by Mark Jackson of VNV Nation, and Explicit feat. vocals by Tom Shear of Assemblage 23. The music itself weaves to and fro with stylings from trance to darkwave to electro-industrial. Mathieu navigates these genres as if they were all extensions of one awe-inspiring sound. One wouldnt think after listening to this album that they actually were distinctly different genres of music, thats how well they are blended together.

This first (and hopefully not last) EP is a multi-artist side project headed by Negative Format's Alex Matheu and is called Fusion because it "rides the borders of several electronic music genres". Yes it does, and the ride is beautiful. Not every track is perfection; but if you don't buy the whole album after listening to all of Motive feat. Negative's Rashree Devi Matson or Explicit feat. Assemblage 23's Tom Shear, there's something wrong with you.
