natedmb23 - The real follow-up to Before These Crowded StreetsBesides Where Are You Going & You Never Know, the other 9 songs were part of The Lillywhite Sessions recorded in the studio in early 2000 and leaked on the internet shortly after Everyday was released in Feb. 2001. This album is great, the only complaint I have is that Kit Kat Jam was recorded with lyrics in the studio, but since Dave kept changing the lyrics around it was decided by whomever to just make it an instrumental on the album. It's always been performed live with lyrics (check out The Gorge version), but yet I do like the instrumental as an interlude between Grace & Ditch. The first thing that comes to mind with this album is it's a good mellow record. I would consider Grey Street, Grace is Gone and Bartender the album's key tracks.
RealitySlayer<92> - It was my first Dave Cd!I feel really bad for all those people who have never listened to this fantastic cd... :(
Pheebs421 - A great return from "Everyday"Yes, like many hardcore Dave Matthews Band fans, I wasn't very pleased with the group's work on their 2000 release "Everyday," in which the band abandoned their previous demo recordings with producer Steve Lillywhite and opted for a new sound with Glenn Ballard. And, like many fans, I was ecstatic when the group remade their "Lillywhite Sessions" material into "Busted Stuff," a great new album with enough of the old DMB sound to keep me nostalgic, but also enough new ideas to keep me guessing. The title track is a nice slow introduction to the album, leading into the wonderful "Grey Street," with its traditional Dave Matthews acoustic guitar rhythm lick leading the track with the usual musical gifts provided by bassist Stephan Lessard, violinist Boyd Tinsley, brass player Leroi Moore, and of course the godly Carter Beauford on drums. The additions of "Where Are You Going" and "You Never Know" are a great replacement to some of the weaker demos on the original "Lillywhite Sessions" material, like "Sweet Up and Down." The funky bassline and complementary jazzy guitar lick on "Captain" is a new and interesting sound to the group, as is the instrumental "Kit Kat Jam." The more melancholy "Grace is Gone" and "Digging a Ditch" provide some of the softer sounds on the album, while "Raven" and "Big-Eyed Fish" are both strong tracks in my book, leading up to the new DMB masterpiece and final track, "Bartender." I heard this song when it first came out as an acoustic concert piece and couldn't wait to see what the group would transform it into on the album. I wasn't disappointed.
Though "Before These Crowded Streets" is still my favorite Dave Matthews Band record, "Busted Stuff" is definitely up there in my book.
JV19 - My #1This came out a month or two before I started high school, it was also my first Dave record. This got me through the first half of the year, i remember walkin down the halls singing this album in my head.
Ritzmoo - Simply the besti do not now why this seems to be the most unpopular DMB album, but to me this is my favorite album of all time. Every day i listen to at least a couple songs from this album, and listen to it all the way through weekly.
I simply love this album, im very suprised it did not go multi-platinum, all songs on it are amazing, You never know, big-eyed fish, and where are you going are my favorite, but then again all of the songs on this album are amazing.
DMB rocks the house september 2nd at the Gorge...ill be there
Aroniaberry - AMAZING.That's all that needs to be said about this album. I'm very surprised at how unusually unpopular this album is, and it really does disappoint me that it is so. I think this is DMB at their finest; there's not one song on here that I felt did not live up to my expectations. People say that Crash was their best album, but only because they haven't listened to this. I've owned this ever since it came out, and I still love every waking moment of music on this album. Come on everyone, GET WITH THE PROGRAM. Music like this only comes around so much, so make the best of it.
mom000 - The best!DMB is a sensation of love and lesson, their two best songs are in this album; "Grey Street" and "Where are you Going". Keep it rockin
Adam M.A. - Best of the last eraArguably the best studio album released by the Dave Matthews Band. Busted stuff marks the end of the bands middle epoch, surpassing the timeless grassroots college rock sound from the early 90s, Busted Stuff is the book end to the "Crash" sound. This is the catchiest music that the Dave Mathews Band will make for along while. The future will bring the more sophisticated sounds and a heavier indulgence if blues roots rock, which is why Busted Stuff will occupy that great spot on your playlist or album book as the last of the real Dave sound.
J-money4 - Big eyed fishThis album was by far the best album I've ever listened to. Big eyed fish used to be my jam!
Cebbie - Ouch partyboyOuch partyboy on your review if “you never know”. That’s just a great song right there.
This album was very refreshing after Everyday which I thought was the worst album to date. Not bad. But just last on the list. This was a nice collection with some real great ones. Busted stuff and grey street are all time to me.
MUGATU22 - Their best, most pure workI enjoy all of DMB's albums, but "Busted Stuff" is my favorite. It's Dave at his most stripped down; it's the band at its most elemental and basic level, and it's music at its finest hour---true and not overproduced. From start to finish, the entire album just reeks of DMB's most pure form, all the way back to the early '90s and Under The Table. Because this album is a dark-horse, it makes it even better. You can play this disk from start to finish and never hear the same thing twice. It's varied and awesome. Highly recommended.

VirginiaJ. - More stars than iTunes allows!!!I have listened to this album so many times, and have yet to get tired of a single song. It is definitely one of their best ever. The songs may not take hold at first, but have such a powerful grip once they get a hold of you. Truly an emotional masterpiece!
BYUkid14 - Stay That WayI don't mind it being one of the least popular albums out there. It keeps it from sounding like the commercialized junk that we hear on the radio every day. This is THE BEST DMB album ever released. Nothing even compares to anything like this. My favorite are the first four songs.
esp81kirk - Not appreciated enoughThe only reason this album didn't do as well as the rest of DMB's albums is because the majority of it was already released on a live album, and people didn't buy this CD just to get a "studio version" of the songs (We all know that DMB sounds great live, and some would argue that they sound better live than they do in a studio). This album is my favorite of DMB's though. I bought it when it first came out and I don't think it left my cd player for about a year. My favorites are Grey Street and Big Eyed Fish. 5 stars!
KT917! - DMB is underratedDave Matthews Band stands the test of time. Gray Street is one of my favorite songs. Authentic lyrics. Such a talented band.
PBStoney - One of their best.I will never, ever as long as I live be able to figure out why this album is one of Dave Matthews Band's most unpopular. This lost then found then lost again album may have all but faded from their tour setlists but rest assured that this is one of the best the band has ever done. Here Dave's writing is morose and earnest where Everyday was jovial and almost silly at times, just watch the video for I Did It. It was appealing, but kick me if i'm the only one who was a little thrown off by it. Nevertheless I've come to terms with Everyday (especially after Stand Up came out) but I still look to Busted Stuff as unnecessary but helpful proof that Dave can still write from his soul. Grey Street is ridiculously good, I swear I must have heard it over 500 times and I still love it. You Never Know, Raven and Grace is Gone are returns to the glory days of DMB's recorded work where upbeat catchy tunes mix with somber, even harsh lyrics to create a genuine musical experience. Kit Kat Jam is a fun little diddy and features the band doing what their fans love them for... jamming, Captain is the jazziest song the band ever recorded and a welcome change of pace on the album, then the heavy stuff is hit and miss. Digging a Ditch is great if you're in a foul mood but a bit umm... settling if you're not, Big Eyed Fish is fun to sing along with but a little bit strange and Bartender, the 2nd song that makes frequent appearances at their live shows the other being Grey Street, displays more jamming but also a very well layered track with strong lyrics and a great message. Hopefully Busted Stuff starts seeing more action on a setlist near me soon.
Dave_Fan* - Personal FavoriteBusted Stuff is definitely my favorite [non-live] album. Grace is Gone & Grey Street both combine powerful lyrics with incredible music. Bisted Stuff is a MUST have!
pjimenez3 - reason for unpopularitythere's no doubt this is a great album, but I think I can answer why people think it is unpopular. Because of the bootleg Lillywhite sessions album. Most of those that got the Lillywhite sessions got a raw unpolished version of 9 of these songs, that most consider to be better than the ones on busted stuff. Besides why buy a whole album that most already have just for two songs, and some polished reworked lyrics? So for the most part this album is extremely popular, in it's Lillywhite original form. Still a great album, just like all DMB albums.
eeeeaq - Hate itThe worst band in the world
alex kurtzz - lovei love this albumn guys. U rely know how to move my soul like a dancing girl :)
Undoped - graceCrash will always be my all time favorite, but Grace is Gone will forever be my favorite song, just chilling
baerro - "Lilywhite Sessions" remnants: Likely the best album from Dave Matthews BandThere's no doubt that Dave Matthews Band is an alternative/"mature" rock powerhouse--so saying that Busted Stuff is their best, or most beautiful, album is a bold statement. But that doesn't mean that it isn't close to the truth. Alongside the big hits "Gray Street" and "Where Are You Going", the songs "Busted Stuff", "Raven", "Digging a Ditch", and "Bartender" are just a handful of some of Dave Matthews Band's most poetic and songs. I honestly wonder what songs they scrapped from the Lilywhite, because this album is music gold. In fact, my favorite Dave Matthews song of all-time is "Bartender".
EMD1015 - Great albumThis is a great album and often times underappreciated. Grey Street, Grace is Gone, Big Eyed Fish, and Busted Stuff are really good songs with great lyrics and music. I consider many of these songs "classic" DMB.
Rene8221 - Love it!The whole cd is great!! Big Eyed Fish is my fav!
Chingychonga - Great Album! One thing I do not understand is how people leave out where are you going. It is arguably just as good as crash into me and crush. Not to mention this album also has grey street and grace is gone.
B.Armst - AmazingI found this hidden treasure years ago, I admit...it was my first Dave's CD, BUT I believe it may compete for being their best; right with "Under the Table & Dreaming" in my opinion. If this CD is underappreciated...I do not know why, givethe songs: "Busted Stuff" or "Grey Street" a go and see what I mean.
Not just amazing DMB. Quintessential DMB.
D-ROG - Solid AlbumAs said again and again this album is unpopular probably to the masses as well as a lot of dave fans. I don't see anything wrong with the album. All 11 songs are exceptional in their own way. Other than the hits they had off this including "Grey Street", "Where Are You Going", "Grace is Gone" and concert favorites: "Big Eyed Fish", and "Bartender", the album still holds great songs. "You Never Know" is a big one with fans and has a great chorus, and "Captain" is the most chill DMB song he has other than if you will "Crush" or "#34". The other four songs bring their own things to the table as well. "Busted Stuff" is a nice relaxed opener. "Raven" is catchy and that deep "Dave" sound (if that is something). "Kit Kat Jam" is an awesome fast rocking song, that is played at concerts a lot. And last and maybe least "Digging a Ditch" is a nice slow song not much to look at but still cool. I've been to two shows in the past two years and none of these songs have been played, which is extremely unfortunate. Some one should give Dave a jab and tell him to play at least one of these songs at each conert, but he's trying to get into his new album which most likely turnout to be a bigger hit than this.
WDRDRA - GREATThe best aside from Before These Empty streets
All these songs are great and powerful
