I get major chills listening to 503. What an amazing soundtrack!
The music from Angels & Demons is beautiful. Unlike the Da Vinci Code soundtrack (which I also own) I enjoy listening to every song on this soundtrack. You really can't go wrong with anything Hans Zimmer and in this album he arranged the Da Vinci Code theme to include more church-like aspects... Love It!
I have every last one of Hans Zimmer's soundtracks, and this one is by far one of the best. Listening to the whole thing is like a story of it's own, and it inspires me as a concert musician. Hans Zimmer has done an outstanding job on this.
Hans Zimmer is the Man with the Plan
This work is unbelievable...with the movie. Alone it's not very listenable. Not like 'The Holiday'. Hans did, like other people mentioned' blend science and religion very well. This effort far surpasses the Da Vinci Code. Just don't expect to be moved like you were in the movie while listening to it alone. I was disappointed.
At the very end of the film, Zimmer got the express permission of Dr. Morten Lauridsen to use part of his piece, Lux Aeterna, as the new pope walked out onto the terrace to greet his constituents (this was the first time Lauridsen had ever allowed it to be used in a film, no less). It would have been great for that to have been included in the final soundtrack product instead of just in the movie. Otherwise, this is a great score. Consider purchasing the entirety of Lauridsen's Lux Aeterna as an addition to this score, as the piece certainly influenced Zimmer's writing style for the film.
There is defintiely an epic-ness to this soundtrack. All the songs are unique and have different levels of awesome, ranging from awesome, to super amazing, and finally "Oh my holy taco, that was the most beautiful thing I've ever heard!". Hans Zimmer has mad skills. Mix that with the beastly violin-playing of Joshua Bell (my idol) and you have a wonderful soundtrack to make your everyday life sound more epic! This album is guard show worthy!! Plus, I really need to find the sheet music for all the beautiful violin parts :) DO BUY THIS ALBUM.
503 has to be my favorite song on this album. It leaves you with a feeling that can only be described as bittersweet.
doesnt 160bpm sound like the doctor who theme.
You can get completely lost in 503. My only complaint is that it is only just over 2 minutes long. The rest of the album is excellent. Can't say much about the movie other than the music captivated me. The film showed so much statuary in Rome it is almost worth going to the movie for the scenery if not the music.
Even without seeing the movie I absolutly love the music. Every moment is exhilarating and heart racing, including the slower songs. Defiantly worth every penny spent.
Absolutely the BEST SOUNDTRACK EVER!!!!! I listen to it all the time. 160 BPM is pure genius! Definetly worth the money.
Hans Zimmer, your one of the few who makes this type of music relevant to the modern age. Hats off to you sir, hats off.
Hans Zimmer is quite a diverse composer, and this diversity can sometimes leads to scores that are lackluster: just music churned out for another film. I felt that the music for "The Da Vinci Code" was in this category -- exciting, rhythmically driven music that provides excitement to compensate for often ridiculous and dialogue. Much of the music in "Angels & Demons" is very similar, and I actually laughed out loud in the theater at one point when a hugely dramatic surge in the music coincided with the not-so-dramatic turning on of a car's headlight. The standout track from this album, however, is "Science and Religion," and, to be honest, it is the only reason I bought the album. "Science and Religion" is a beautiful piece of music that utilizes wonderful and various ambient textures with repetition to create a landscape of mood and sound. I remembered it from the film and thought it highly appropriate for the images it accompanied on screen. This track reminds me of the musical textures often used by the American composer John Adams, of whom I am an avid follower. Though much of this score seems merely "churned out," this one track does make it a worthy purchase.
Each track is powerful and follows the storyline well. Even if you don't like the book, this is great music. If you have an aversion to Angels & Demons or The DaVinci Code, remember that they are found in the FICTION section for a reason. They are just meant to be entertaining, so don't read further into them than what they are: interesting stories. This CD is just that...entertaining. If you are a fan of Hans Zimmer, you will not be disappointed.
Really good album. Full of energy and artistically graceful. I would highly recommend this😊
The movie was great and the music out standing.. love 503!
I have to admit the only track I liked at first was Science and Religion. Later on the more I listened to the whole soundtrack the more I liked it. Hans Zimmer has got me again. I guess he never let's his fans down. Thumbs way up for Angels & Demons
Sure it's not a very large soundtrack, but it's still an amazing one! 503 is probably my favorite song, it's very haunting and beautiful. I'm also incredibly glad that it's not all "Album Only". I have to give props to iTunes for that.
Hans Zimmer is the genius of all geniuses :3 This album in my point of veiw is his best!!, most of the music makes you remember a track from the Da Vinci Code (chavaliers de sangreal) In short this album is a wonderful!! thankyou everyone who put their work and effort into this!!! violin solos were breath taking :)
Although I really don't care much for the Dan Brown franchise, this is a HUGE album. One of the most amazing composers meets the (probably) best violin player of our era and you can just feel the chemistry between this great artists.
There is Peace and wondering the world once again. The best sound I've heard in a long time. Thank you very much!
Mr. Bell seems to bring a very nice touch to the album, but there is a slight issue. His solos sound like the ones from The Village, which would be excellent, but they don't quite fit with the orchestral accompaniment. Other than this relatively minor issue, and the fact that Zimmer did not experiment much (which fits the movie, and is also fine by me), this album seems great, although I do wish that iTunes would make the longer tracks available. However, this did not affect my rating of two science stars and two religion stars battling it out in the ratings box.
I am a huge fan of Hans Zimmer, he is absolutely brilliant. Every single one of his score's are beautiful, absolutely moving pieces!
Every soundtrack is amazing. They are so captivating and powerful.
Yes this is a once again incredible score done by Zimmer. All of the tracks are amazing!!! Definetly buy the whole album, but the best tracks are: 1, 3, 4, 6, and 7. The movie was great and this score really added. Easily the best score of the whole year! If you like soundtracks then hit buy album right now!!
A very great album full of great music!
whomever wrote and orchestrated this music is an absolute genius. The way they incorporate traditional orchestra, chanting vocals, and synthesized sounds to make this modern work of art is fascinating and beautiful. This had better win the Oscar for best musical score!!
this was an incredible film, and this is just wonderful music. for those of you that are against da vinci code and this book and film, i pity you. you are reallly missing out.
i always loved those opera, latin chantting, orchestras...so cool and has a nice beat love it
Great ensemble. Pure Hans Zimmer; addicting, intense, and thoughtful. A must listen in my book.
this is a phenomenal soundtrack to a phenomenal book and movie, and Hans Zimmer has done extremely well! the songs (especially 'Science and Religion' and '503') display powerful emotion and overall, portray the events of the movie very beautiflly. in my opinion, i think that this is some of Zimmer's very best work. i highly recommend that you buy the entire album. you will not be dissappointed!
503 really hits your heart, good. it moves you. excellent piece of music here. i listened to it over and over again
I absolutely love this soundtrack. The movie was great as well. If you are against these books and movies at least give a listen to the sound tracks. You will feel better I assure you.
Great records. Hans Zimmer is providing a very good job. Support it!
This "score" that Zimmer dreamed up is so phenomenal... it sends chills down my spine everytime I hear this... its a story in itself aside from the movie... whenever you hear this piece it takes somewhere.. transports your senses into a place that only you, your ears and your heart can interpret.. Cheers!
Hans Zimmer totally outdid himself with this album, mixing a pipe organ with Joshua Bell on Violin was total genius.
I absolutely love this score. If you have seen the movie (which was awesome) this totally sums it up. Every piece sets the tone for the film. It is definitely a hit!!
Loved both the soundtrack and the movie. + anything whit Hans Zimmers music is beautiful.
160BPM and 503 are spectacular. The rest of the album falls into a melancholy state. I found myself depressed listening to them. This is caused by the repeat of the theme and other melodies over and over again. You can tell this was done near the same time as the Dark Knight sound track, as it has the same musical feel to it. Also I found many similar melodies, or beats taken from the Dark Knight. The album feels secretive, which it should for the movie, and builds a questionably story to be answered by the final track. Sadly to say it is like background music, if you are not focused on it, it just fades out of sight. (You forget it is even on) The first and last tracks are worth listening to, and are unique. These two make the track worth listening to.
the sound track takes you on an adventure through the incredible world of angels and demons. the book was incredible and the movie lived up to the greatness of the stroy. buy this album, it takes you for a ride through to world of angels and demons
This soundtrack, particularly 503, gives me chills. And when listened to at the right time, can bring me to tears. It's really powerful and wonderfully done.
Hans Zimmer has done it again! He is my favorite composer and he also makes alot of the music for some of my favorite movies. although i haven't seen this movie, my friend introduced me to the soundtrack and now i badly want to see it! This soundtrack is epic! It gives me the chills ;)
this is good music to listen too. I haven't seen this or The Da Vinci Code but I love Hans Zimmer. I own this scores simply for the pleasure of hearing Hans Zimmer. I don't care about what movie events the music is actually illustrating. I love the choral sections of tracks like "160 BPM". I enjoyed hearing Joshua Bell with James Newton-Howard in Defiance. I can say the same about the violinists work here on this album. "503" is the standout for me. Any Zimmer fan should appreciate this and even if you never view this film, its still great music.
After watching Angels and Demons, I had to get the soundtrack, which introduced me to Zimmer. I have been a huge fan since and would encourage anyone else to listen to his works.
I do not stand for the movie but I think this is a really good Hans Zimmer soundtrack.
503 , a beautiful variant of Chevaliers of the Sangreal. The soundtrack itself combines science and religion definitively!!!
Does anyone know the music thats playing when the narrarator says "sede vacante" in the begining? I'm looking for some kind of catholic latin music like that.
503 sounds exactly like the davinci code - the last track

It's a pity this score was written to a sub-standard film as Zimmers writing is brilliant. Because of that it is not featured in adverts for his tour. Themes from the score are frequently used for documentarys. His music sounds like no one elses and this is my favourite and it sounds great on a church organ.
All these scores convey so much emotion and relate so much to what happened in the film. You do not need to watch the film to understand these beautiful pieces. Well done Hanz Zimmer again for another outstanding album!
This is a brilliant piece of scoring by Hans Zimmer. It conveys the emotion of the film and the violin solos by Joshua Bell are mesmerising. The use of the organ throughout is a stroke of genius and is put to very good use in "503". This piece is a variation on the Da Vinci Code piece of Chevaliers De Sangreal involving a violin solo and the organ. This soundtrack is truly inspirational and I whole heartedly recommend buying it.
Absolutly ace! 1 of the most heart- wrenchingly painfuly beautiful albums ever created!
