The bands been gravitating towards a country sound for years now, no surprise there. Still great, Still Skynyrd. I love the fact that these guys just tell it like it is!!!!! Sounds great, I like the new album, Sounds like things I believe in. The special edition also has some live tracks to mix it up a little.
Ugh. What happened here? Did Toby Keith write and produce this tired country pop crossover crap. Atriums and Rickey if you are still in this band shame on you. This is not Skynyrd or southern rock for that matter. Please change the name of the band. They have taken the name Lynrd Skynrd in vain and the real band is no longer around to do anything about this travesty. This makes me sad, I will forget I even heard this. Skynyrd is sacred here in the south don't go messin with it.
I'm not much of a southern rock fan, but this is great. I know skynyrd from way back, and people say that this doesn't sound like them? thats because only ONE of the origional members is alive, this is a great album that truly deserves the Skynyrd name.
If you have listened to Lynyrd Skynyrd since the beginning and you hear this new record, they sound like two different bands. One of them sounds like a more relaxed, jam southern rock band while the other has a more upbeat and modern county/rock feel to it. Nonetheless, it is a good album with a handful of catchy songs but obviously not the same Skynyrd
Love Lynyrd Skynyrd, love this album!!!! "Still Unbroken" is the best song, but there are some other greats on here!! I think it's awesome how Rob Zombie has vocals on "Floyd," too! Lynyrd Skynyrd is defs an older classic rock band, but this album shows that they are evolving into a more modern sound. Awesome album!!!!
This album is simply amazing, many people have a nasty habit of condemning new skynyrd because they only have one original member left and dont seem to sound as though they did in the 1970s. I say who cares! This is valid work, ranking near the top along with Vicious Cycle of my favorite Skynyrd Albums, both new and old. You can hear the pain and pure force in some of these songs, their beyond describing. Alot heavier than we're used to when we think of Skynyrd but a job well done. Every song is a masterpiece. "Still Unbroken" hits home for a lot of us out there, I love the message in "God and Guns", "Floyd" is a killer tune with Rob Zombie on backing vocals, and "Storm" and "Gifted Hands" are beautiful tributes to fallen members Ean Evans and Billy Powell. This is a must have for any truly "dedicated" Skynyrd fan out there!
I grew up listening to Skynard because my parents were Skynard fans. Their music has always been amazing and this album is no different. It doesnt sound like the classic skynard but is definately nothing short of amazing!
Finally someone tells it like it is.... may Skynard never die
The only truly complete and good album that Skynyrd has made since the crash. Every song on this album is great, something everyone thought they would never do after the crash.
SELLOUTS??? GUNS ARE DEATH???? come one people this is one of the best albums skynyrd has made. it really speaks the mind of true Americans and is really representitive of us in this charged climate. God bless a band willing to go against the "mainstream" and really show the true America. And the sound is different but comon this is 2009 not 1974 and like it was said previoously only ONE original band member is still alive. use your heads and support a band that supports America and what that word stands for. Thanks Skynyrd!!!!
Still unbroken is awesome.it simply says never give up
Lynyrd Skynyrd has been recording with Johnny Van Zant since 1991. That is how long it has been since their sound changed some. It is not really been that large of a change, just a slight more of a rock feeling rather than ALL southern rock. There are a large variety of songs here and some them have a very southern rock feel to them. To come in here and complain about a band you obviously have not been listening to for over 19 yrs. only shows your lack of knowledge. You should know the band before you review them. This is a great album and stands on its own merit. If you like LS,you will love this album.
Another band that completely changes their sound and comes out with the same name. Guns n roses is also guilty of this... Of course a lot of people will love this and that's fine, but I can't stand any of the new mass produced country rock nickelback garbage, it's never doing anything new and it never will. And to the person that said "thanks" for standing up for America, thanks for the good laugh. Only every country rock artist and their dog does it, maybe theyll make a 911 tribute album next, that'd be original
Before you even get in your head that "oh this is just a tribute band" STOP!!! This is not a tribute, it's a continuing. This album is the best southern rock cd that I have heard in a long time. There is never a point where the music gets boring, or old. It never fails to impress
This is a ok alnum to me. I thank I would pick Vans Zant over this ablum.
Awesome Song
One of my favorite albums ever by any artist!!!!! Awesome awsome!!... Remember when you have either a Bible or a gun in either hand you can't fear anyone!
Outstanding quality and a new level of songwriting for the 2nd generation of Skynyrd. The Rock songs in fact Rock especially "Still Unbroken" & "Floyd" and the country songs are as endering to America as anything John Mellencamp ever commited to song. Long live Skynyrd!!!
I have loved Skynyrd since before the crash. The title is just wrong. I won't buy it just because of the title. I am anti gun. Guns are death. God is life. enough said.
This is not Lynyrd Skynyrd. This is Nashville Johnny Van Zant. This album shouldn't even be classified as rock n roll, becuase the guys don't play it anymore. I remember when Skynyrd could play countryish tunes but still give a rock edge but this is just plain awful. Granted, there are two or three rockers on here, but they sound like they were written for Nickelback. I've been a Skynyrd fan since the 70's but I think that streak of loyalty is going to end. Time to dust off the old Thin Lizzy albums and listen to some REAL music!
The gun debate is so irrelevant. People are ALLOWED to bear arms. Chicago, the city with the strictest gun laws, has the highest murder rate. Taking away the right to own guns would not have stopped mass shootings. People get them illegally, so why can't we get them LEGALLY to protect ourselves? Liberals will ruin this world.
This hardly sounds like lynyrd Skynyrd!!! they were 20 times as good with Ronnie Van Zant.
You've really got it right
I love this album!!!
Great rock album. If you liked the last LS album this one picks up where it left off. Nothing groundbreaking just good southern rock!

This is the closest you'll get to the Skynyrd of the 70s. Van Zant sings so much like his brother that you can hardly tell the difference. Simple Life is awesome. If you're a Skynyrd fan like me (learned how to play drums listening to Second Helping back in 74), this is a must for your collection.
This is an amazing album that I can't stop listening to straight through. If you haven't bought it yet, get the $14.99 special edition of the album. The second "disc" contains three extra studio tracks and three live tracks. Two of those studio tracks should've made it on to the main album and the live tracks are great to have because it's Skynyrd live!!! You'll regret not shelling out the extra few bucks and getting the extras!!!
It's fabulous! It was a really long wait but so worth it!
