Greatest Hits is a greatest hits album released by American rock band the Foo Fighters on November 3, 2009, via RCA Records. Greatest Hits includes a selection of Foo Fighters hit singles. Two singles from their 1995 debut, Foo Fighters album ("This Is a Call" and "Big Me") are included. Three singles are included from 1997's The Colour and the Shape album ("Monkey Wrench", "Everlong" and "My Hero"). The Colour and the Shape remains the band's biggest selling album in the US. Two singles are included from 1999's There Is Nothing Left to Lose album ("Learn to Fly" and "Breakout") as are two singles from 2002's One by One album ("All My Life" and "Times Like These"). One single ("Best of You") is included from the band's biggest worldwide selling album In Your Honor, released in 2005. "Best of You" remains the band's highest-charting hit on the U.S., UK and Australian singles charts. Two singles are included from 2007's Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace album ("The Pretender" and "Long Road to Ruin"). Greatest Hits also contains two new songs "Wheels" and "Word Forward".

I’ve been a fan of the foos for a while now and this is the best way to listen to them. They have great singles but their albums aren’t good. Maybe the first album was good all the way through, apart from that all others were a bit boring.

im going to quote something that dave grohl said about the setlist for this album. "these 16 songs are what were calling our greatest hits. not to be confused with "our best songs" or "our favorite songs", its a collection of the songs that have defined our bands indentity to most people over the years. the other 65 album tracks...... well, some of those might be our bet songs. "aurora", "new way home", "MIA", "exhausted", "A320"..... depends on whom you ask. personally, i dont think weve written our greatest songs yet. but that door is always open" so guys there is a reason they left out those other great songs

Best band ever - great album. There are so many songs that could have been on this album that a 2 or even 3 'CD' would have worked better. You can't fault it though becuase all the songs are awesome.

"no way back", "i'll stick around", "the one", "let it die", "DOA". all these hits plus a couple more arnt on here. every band is really stupid when it comes to greatest hits albums. they always leave out good songs. seriously, come on guys. the new songs are good though

A greatest hits album or best-of album is a type of compilation album that collects popular and commercially successful songs by a particular artist or band. While greatest hits albums are typically supported by the artist, they can also be created by record companies without express approval from the original artist as a means to generate sales. They are typically regarded as a good starting point for new fans of an artist, but are sometimes criticized by longtime fans as not inclusive enough or necessary at all.It is also common for greatest hits albums to include new recordings, remixes or unreleased alternate takes of the hit songs, plus other new material as bonus tracks to increase appeal for longtime fans (who might otherwise already own the recordings included). At times, a greatest hits compilation marks the first album appearance of a successful single that was never attached to a previous studio album.
