- One of The Best Albums of All Time

There are no words...sit down...listen...preferably with headphones...from first song to last...prepared to be amazed.

- A fantastic trip through the cosmos

Axis: Bold as Love, the title track from the album of the same name is a piece almost unequaled in the annals of rock and roll. No one, and I mean NO ONE, could rip up his axe quite like Hendrix. That last solo at the end is like he is, in death, stepping into his eternal role as guitarist to Zeus himself. To be sure the other songs on the album are good also (I particularly am mesmerized by "One Rainy Wish" but I've been listening to Axis now since 1977 and it still blows me away. An all time classic. NOT to be missed.

- 5 stars obviously

It's Jimi Hendrix... THE greatest guitarist this world has known. I've listened to all of his studio albums over and over again and they're all amazing 10++ star albums, but this one really stands out as my favorite. This is Jimis masterpiece album, if you had to pick one. But don't pick one, buy them all. You'll be glad you did. This is real music.

- My love is bold for this Axis of an album

Because this is one of Jimi's greatest along with Are You Experienced? and his Electric Ladyland album (plus, some unreleased stuff right after his death) There's no need to sum this album up again because it already has been by the other reviews, but it is a highly recommended album for anyone who likes Blues and Rock music. Jimi Hendrix lives on through these albums still, so let's keep it that way so youngsters can enjoy this instead of bands that can't seem to keep music in place these days. Love ya Jimi, and thanks for the music!

- Buy it!!

Just buy it!! It's a desert island album for sure.

- Love it

All good…!!!!!

- Genius!

The album-only bonus footage video alone is worth $9.99. Producer Chas Chandler and legendary recording engineer Eddie Kramer? I died and went to rock heaven. I'd read about the "underwater" phasing effect on the title track. To hear Eddie Kramer talk about it himself (and stories behind other tracks on the album) - amazing. Of course interviews with Noel Redding and Mitch Mitchell ain't too shabby either! The album - a genius collection of tracks without equal.

- -_-

WHY DO PEOPLE THINK TIHS IS THIER WORST ALUBUM?????????????????????????????????????????? its one of the best............................................................... FIVE STARS

- Axis

ENOUGH OF HENDRIX... I HAVE ALL THE RELEASES FROM THE REPRISE (WARNER BROTHERS) LABEL UP TO MCA RELEASES. THEY ALL SOUND THE SAME..

- Great Album

im a big jimi hendrix fan, his debut would definitely be my favorite, but one of my favorite songs on this, his second album, would have to be "She's So Fine" sung by Noel Redding. The introduction with Mitch Mitchell, then then the brilliant bass and then Jimi's guitar makes that song one of the best of the 1960's!

- Hendrix, what more needs to be said?

Nothing.

- The most beautiful album I have ever heard

This album i can describe with only one word: beautiful. Whenever I listen to Little Wing, I cry from how it is the most beautiful song in the world. Castles made of sand has some of the best guitar chemistry I have ever heard. EXP has also amazing guitar chemistry. Bold As Love, the original is better than John Mayer's version because it is absolutely amazing. No on will ever be able to create an album as great as Axis: Bold As Love by The Jimi Hendrix Experience.

- The Best!

My favorite studio album!

- TheALEXterminator

I know this isn't considered Jimi's best album, but this is my favorite Jimi record. The songs here have more developed riffs than AYE?. And while most rock critics far more enjoyed the bloated proto-progressive noodling of EL, I didn't. I much prefer the more conventional song structures presented here. This album finds Jimi at the peak of his pop sensibilities. "Wait Until Tomorrow" has to be most accessible song he's written. This album contains the majority of my favorite Hendrix songs: Spanish Castle Magic, Little Wing, Castles Made of Sand, the title track and my favorite Hendrix song of all time (One Rainy Wish). I find "One Rainy Wish" particularly interesting for utilizing the soft-loud dynamic decades before The Pixies and Nirvana popularized it. Such a shame Jimi barely incorporated this album into his live sets. If I remember correctly, only SCM and LW made it into his concert performances. I would have loved to hear ORW or the mind-bending BAL solo on-stage.

- Up there on my favorites list.

Anybody with even the most fleeting interest in classic rock knows how ridiculously important Hendrix is. Just about everyone who listens to his wok is impacted, or even changed. Every Experience album is a timeless, irreplaceable classic, and everyone has their favorite. However, if you ask most people what their favorite album is, they'll almost certainly say either Are You Experienced? or Electric Ladyland. Now I love every Hendrix album, but those two are a but permeated with the occasional filler (especially Ladyland.) The only filler on Axis is EXP, which simply serves to set the tone. After that, every song is gold. His guitar playing is beautiful, aggressive, affecting, and heartfelt, all at the same time. Every great aspect of Jimi's career in the studio is touched on. I think I've said enough. BUY THIS ALBUM.

- My Favorite Jimi Studio Album

Sure, Are You Experienced and Electric Ladyland get all the attention, but Axis is by far the most well composed material by Jimi. The material is much more cerebral than the other more well-known Hendrix staples. Jimi Hendrix was a genius on the guitar. Axis is no exception. This was his second studio album, and he was able to go off into his own strange mind. His first album, Are You Experienced is a great collection of hits, and for the times, a breakthrough smash. However, he was constrained by the confines of the music industry. On his first album, he was forced to help produce a record, and thus, it's not pure Jimi. On his second album, however, he was allowed to do his own thing, with a few restraints of course. As a result, Axis became a masterpiece. The album starts off with an alien intrusion with EXP, a strange "but beautiful" screeching made entirely of Jimi's signature Fender Stratocaster. Typical Jimi! He was awesome at making sounds with his guitar. Up From the Skies is the first song on the album, a jazzy, smooth gem, complete with wah wah and lyrics sung from the viewpoint of an alien, which explains the extraterrestrial landing preceding! Spanish Castle Magic follows, a classic by Jimi. Other notables include Little Wing, another of Jimi's trademarks (improved upon quite well by Stevie Ray Vaughn), and one of my all-time favorite songs, Bold as Love, a beautiful ballad that ends the album in a fade that gives me a spine-tingler. All in all, Axis is one of the best albums ever recorded by arguably the best guitarists who ever lived. Give Axis: Bold as Love a try if you haven't already done so.

- The best album ever

By far, this is the best album I’ve ever bought from Jimi Hendrix

- who are you?

ummm..... let me mention that they do not sound the same if you listen closely. Axis is The Experiences worst album, and even if it's their worst, it's still very good. It deserves a minimum of 4 stars.

- Best

Are you experienced had to many songs, some great some okay. Eletric ladyland had great songs, and was very virtuosical, but didn't hit a homer on every single song. Of course most albums don't have homers on all, but when your dealing with Jimi, and your comparing to Axis, it's hard if not impossible to beat.

- Remarkable

Simply Beautiful<3

- Hendrix

This Is a great album some of these songs are very memorable brings back good memories!!!Love It.

- Amazing

A legendary album. Little wing has some of the best guitar you will ever hear. #2 on my list of jimi albums, right behind electric lady land.

- The Electric Guitar's God of Fire shows his cool side.

Not a devout religious person, but my money says that when Jesus Christ rose ascended from the grave, the second solo to "Bold as Love" was blasting at a ridiculous volume. Not much of a stretch, since Jimi could bend space and time with his whammy bar.

- Axis Bold as Love

OMG since I saw him in concert and forever more the Best Album EVER!

- This is it

The only hendrix i <3

- Axis Bold as Love

Other than the Noel Redding song she's so fine, this album is awesome !!!!

- Great

This is my favorite of his studio albums. Very melodic.

- Roadtrip 84

I played this album for 2 weeks straight in 84' while on a cross country road trip with my cousin the summer I graduated high school. The fullness of the stereo sound made it was my official sound track to the grand canyon.

- VIRTUOSO

Everyone knows "Are You Experienced" - it has many hits and rightfully so, it's an amazing record. That said, the REAL MASTERPIECE in the Hendrix collection is without a doubt the "Axis Bold As Love". While the guitar work is out of this world, it is far more cohesive and melodic, highly synthesised and masterfully played. In my opinion this is Jimi's best record. Everything clicks and transports you on a fantastic musical "trip" across the depths of Jimi's emotive guitar work. The big WOW factor is that this record was made in '67. It's far ahead of it's time and plays just as well today as it did then. Don't miss out on this excellent work!
