I don't like how repetitive it is and I just don't think it measures up the other great songs she has done.

All you people need to realize this song is in Swahili the only part that isn't is esto es Àfrica.

I agree, usualy I can't stand songs in other languages because I have no idea what they mean, but I've tried listening to waka waka in English and I can't stand that version! I love the Spanish and shakira is amazing, I wonder if she'll maybe do a song for the olympics......

I saw some 1 say that the world cups song was wave your flag and it is a good song bit that song was produced by coca cola for coca colas own benifit. That song never became fifas official pick for the world cup song. Waka waka is the only song that FIFA gave the green light 2 be the song for south Africa '10. Event though wave your flag is an awsom song its not the world cups them song. Just wanted 2 clear that up.

I don't listen to Shakira very often, but this song really blew me away. If I listen to this song when I'm feeling down or angry, I sing along to this song and my confidence is at an all time high! My suggestion is, buy this song for some real feel good music.

Awesome song! Love it, very addicting song, makes me want to hear it over and over again. I you love shakira's music you'll definately love this song, I like the spanish version better, but the english version is definately good too.

As usual, Shakira releases a song that makes you want to get up and dance. Everytime I see Shakira perform this song, she's so happy - even happier than when she performs stuff like Loba - and it makes me happy too. Sure, no one understands the chorus, but who cares? As long as you want to get up and dance, then buy the song. It's one of Shakira's best and it makes you sway your hips.

the song isn't the most objectionable song... but it's not great either. i mean, shakira hasn't really ever been my style but i think she is good at the genre that she practices (though personally i prefer her spanish stuff). the biggest problem i have with this song is that it sounds like every song FIFA composes for world cups and international tournaments. They always have some tribal african beat (which i realize is appropriate for south africa) or some brazilian samba carnaval thing. It's so cliche. Something original would be nice.

Why does this sound much better in a foreign language?

This song does have an English version. I actually did buy that Spanish version too. Other wise it's such a good song. It's my friends and my theme song. 
