I completely agree with the comment before me, this is an astonishing, frightening song that really raises fear. And I believe that this is for this film, and this mood beeing set a lot better than the Tower remix. Which is good but has a more epic tragic tone to it, while this is the ghostly, chilling thriller music.
i have just one word to discribe lux aeterna: chilling
If you are one of the people who is disappointed that Lux Aeterna was shortened, you can just arrange music in this order: Hope Overture Lux Aeterna Summer Overture Winter Overture It doesn't make Lux Aeterna, but the pieces synchronize pretty well, and I think it sounds amazing.
I love the Overtures and Lux Aertana. I understand that L.A. was shortened, probably because the full song is too expensive. Other than that, great music!
An Absolute Must-Buy For Hardcore Fans of the Film! One of the very few movie soundtracks that I can play in my car & cruise down the road. (Especially at Night, By Myself & I'm the Only Car on the Highway....a very strange mix of Sorrow,Eeriness, & Calming Silence.) I have never been Un-Satisfied or Disappointed with an Clint Mansell/Kronos Quartet Score(which speaks volumes from my POV.)Because no matter how much I love & admire an Artist/Band, as soon as I buy an album that IMO, is Below Average To Disappointing....I'll never buy an Album of theirs again! But, If you buy this ST, & love it...Then let me give you some advice, From One Fan to Another, Anytime you come Across An Album or Film ST, that is Composed by Clint Mansell....Buy it on the Spot! (5ive stars out of 5ive!)

Looking for the 6 minute Lux Aeterna. Disappointed to find out this wasn't the version that they play in highlight videos, etc... Neverless this is an awesome song.
This is some of the best music that I've ever heard in a movie. Lux Aeterna is the best song in the movie. It changes your emotion to depressed no matter what you're feeling.
For those looking for the requiem for a tower song, you're in the wrong spot. This is for the ORIGINAL and much better version of that song and it's called Lux Aeterna. Now as far as the actual review, the soundtrack itself is just like the film, it's not for the faint of heart. From the recurring emphatic theme of Lux Aeterna to the chilling tracks of ghosts and fear, this score stays true to the heart of the film by not pulling any punches with it's tracks and giving the audience a taste of what it means to lose touch with reality. The soundtrack gives the audience a ride through the seasons and the downfalls of the characters by emphasizing the purpose of each scene with harsh strings or a lilting harmony.

Then go buy the soundtrack to The Fountain. Even more amazingness by Clint Mansell. Buy both soundtracks now. You won't regret it. I promise:)

I've only read about the movie and listened to summer overture and lux aeterna and became amazed because it's amazing. I personally think summer overture is the faster paced one and lux is the more intense slow one.

This soundtrack is just perfect for this film.
I first heard a more electric version of "Cleaning Apartment" on the computer game Cortex Command by Data Realms and I loved it. So then I heard the real version on Pandora and I am so happy i found this. SO HAPPY! Yet to see the movie though.
This album is a masterpiece from beginning to end. I can't think of a more perfect or intense soundtrack!!! The movie is a little too much to watch repeatedly but this album is in my guru of playlists. I love when a track from it plays!! Then I want to listen to the whole thing:) Superb perfection.

This song plays at tense points throughout the movie, pushing your anxiety levels sky high! There are few things in life that will draw you into a film, tuning out absolutely everything but the movie. When it is in certain scenes in Requiem, the violin playing fast is perfect. You will tune out noise from outside, people talking or maybe even the start of fire in the room, it is so intense with this song playing during the movie. Even just hearing the violin play faster in the song raises my anxiety level. Great song for a great movie!
I luv this album! Lux aenterea and summer overtue are my next favorite songs. I put them in my lego war movies and people seemed to like it.

The songs are brilliant and match the tone of the movie perfectly. The songs by themselves convey just as much emotion as the movie.

This is not the whole song. The entire song is over 6 minutes long and this version is just over two minutes. It doesn't have any climactic segments from the original song. It only contains the slow beginning. Its a waist of a dollar and twenty-nine cents.

I wanted the Reqiuem for a Tower movements (which are based off of Lux Aeterna) and so since iTunes doesn't have Requiem for a Tower, I bought it. The song is a little disappointing, but it is still worth buying. It is really creepy and amazing.
I saw this movie last night for the first time. I have to admit it was a great movie. It was very well made, but it was also very disturbing. It gives people an insight at how drugs/addictions can mess up your life. The soundtrack is as dark as the movie is. It helps make the film dark. I would highly recommend this soundtrack to anyone, but the movie is definitly for mature audiences.
My friend wants this as floor music for her gymnastics routine!!! Great music to listen too!!

It's haunting & powerful (like the first review title). It is truly not for the weakest ears or hearts. It's a stunning display of winding emotions, lost hopes, and hardship. This music crawls underneath your skin & does not let go. A masterpiece by Mansell.

All of the people that gave this soundtrack low reviews because they didn't find Requiem for a Tower (the faster paced rendition of this song) are idiots. This movie, which is one of the most emotional and fantastically produced movies I've seen, needed a score that would bring the emotion and devestation that this movie provided. Clint Mansell succeeded wonderfully. Although the soundtrack itself (outside of Summer Overture and Lux Aeterna) may not be an album you sit down and listen to, after seeing the movie and pondering it you will understand why I say this. I wholeheartedly recommend you watch the movie, and then buy this soundtrack. I guarantee that you will give it 5 stars as well, and you will understand why I feel this soundtrack fit better with Requiem for a Dream than any soundtrack has fit with any movie ever. There is a reason that this music has been covered by others for numerous trailers... it is simply magnificent.

I just finished downloading this album. I love the songs and listening to them takes me back to the movie. The songs are so beautiful. My only gripe is that I found out that the song Meltdown was downloaded, however, it says that my computer is not authorized to play the song...when I paid for it myself. All the other songs play. Maybe theres some other reasoning behind it and I'm not that familiar with iTunes but that was a disappointment. Also, it says there are 33 songs on this album. I bought the entire album and only 32 were downloaded. Full Tense wasn't downloaded for whatever reason. Fear downloaded, doesn't appear on Purchased but appears on my iPod. All so confusing. All in all I'm pleased with the purchase. I don't think I'm missing out much on Full Tense.

this soundtrack is amazing. the music truely sets the tone for the movie and in its own way describes how frightening the film is. the movie is absolutely superb, but i think the soundtrack also does it justice.

Requiem for a dream is my favorite movie although I vowed to myself to NEVER watch it again. This soundtrack is a masterpiece, like the movie. Simply unforgettable and too amazing to explain in great detail. (P.s. Never do drugs ๐)

The movie was powerful enough, but to emphasize the power of the music, I will tell you that I listened to lux aterna and it gave me more than just chills.. The music brought out a type of fear that isn't often achieved through sound, it was like the music took on it's own personality, one that is both sinister and deviant..

The movie is amazing and makes you go woah... But this music is what does it. Lots of nerds like Lux Aeterna Cause it sounds lord of the ringsy or world of warcraft like. I like "The Beginning of the End" Listen to the sample, Then precisly when it stops listen to "Meltdown" Scary like the movie.

Never have I seen a movie that I have loved the soundtrack to so much. All of the songs are so haunting and grand at the same time.
All i can say is, the movie is scary and can really make you see things from a different light! The music is touching, moving and really does make you go WOAH! 10 out of 10 for movie and soundtrack!
