I haven't bought a full album since "Ok Computer," so I'm not inclined to gush. But holy wow, these guys are talented! So much joy! So much talent! Addictive, huge-sounding, hooky and smart… They've made a lot of music in the past few years-- I'm gnashing my teeth that they haven't made a bunch more. Thank you, Portugal. The Man for so much big-hearted, intelligent music. WHY DON"T PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT YOU!?!??!?!??!

The grooviest tracks this side of 1979. Seriously. If you're looking for something to shake your money-maker to, stop now. Laying it out for you, here's the tracks you MUST have: 1. So American (did they really add the funk of a steel drum? Priceless) 2. Got It All 3. You Carried Us All 4. Share with Me the Sun (straight up, the rump-shakinest track of the year) 5. Sleep Forever Everything here is good, and nothing is filler. Get into the deeper tracks for some soulful lyrics, too

After listening to In The Mountain In The Cloud nonstop for literally 2 weeks, I can't stop having multiple eargasms in a row. This album is nothing short of A-MAZING! PTM, after all I've been through listening to the new album, I hope you'll at least cuddle.

Portugal just doesn't deliver this time around. Lyrics are uninspired, very repetitive, unoriginal musician ship, with licks that range from American Ghetto, to strings of Censored Colors. The only problem here is that one, songs are too long and monotonous, verses last 27 seconds tops, before your fed another chorus. Some interesting filters used on Johns vocals on songs like All Your Light, Senseless and Sleep Forver. But besides the minor experimenting on the vocals and more apparent Keyboard work this album fails to be anything remotely as interesting as Satanic Satanist, Censored Colors or Church Mouth.

my brother turned me on to portugal last year and they were a little hit and miss with me, but this album blew me away. "all your light" is one of the raddest songs ever and the rest of the album isn't far behind. they just come out of left field with a funky yet sophisticated rythym and transition from the soothing to the menacing with ability to give you goose bumps. he is right at home in that false etto now too, it could be studio magic but he is starting to sound like mariah carey.

A simply refreshing album, there's something about it that manages to hit every emotion and feeling you can imagine. Absolutly reminds me of the beatles in a lot of ways and even caught some lyrical throwbacks to Censored Colors. This a pretty all encompasing and even a totally musically removed person will enjoy a listen through. A great record, well worth whatever you have to pay for it.

Over the past 6 years, listening to this bands music has only filled my ears with wonder and dazzlement. I grew up to Waiter You Vultures, and was blown away by their acoustic stuff with The Majestic Majesty. But this album has made me appreciate all that they have done. If you want muscians that will spiritually and emotionally thrill you, this is the band for you. Personal fav.s on the album: Once there was one and Sleep Forever. Incredible album. Incredible musicians. Peace & Love.

My love for Portugal. the Man started some years ago, but I had become disappointed with their more recent fare. Thinking that they might have hit a snag musically, I was glad to say that my assumptions were absolutely wrong. This album is everything I love about PTM. A blend of rich sounds with off-kilter lyrics adding up to some truly unforgettable songs.

Not a single throw away/filler song in the bunch. PTM is such and addicting band that, once you get it in you, you just can't shake. It took a long time for me to warm to them, but now I'm hooked. They continue to grow to the point that they are creating whole albums of good music that is consistent, but not repetitive. These guys can really put a tune together. I love the high vocals and the themes of their lyrics. Particularly, I've noticed over their albums that they tend to frequently use the word "we" in their songs. I love that. It really gives a feeling of unity and makes the songs very generalizable. Almost as if they're the voice of a group of people sining in unison or for a generation. This is a great mechanism to allow me to relate to most of their lyrics rather than alienating me by making the songs too personal. Another thing that I love about this album and all their albums is that their music defies categorization. When i review albums for the first time I try to drop the songs into playlists I created and I just can't seem to figure out where these songs fit. So I like this music on the merit of the music alone. Not because it fits into a genre that I like to listen to. No real negative things to say. They seem highly consistent and the only changes over time that I've seen is growing consistency and competency

Being a fan ever since Waiter...You Vultures, I can say that there sound has progressed but has not left that Portugal. The Man sound. Such a definitive album, and yet another great milestone from Portugal. If you are just starting with PTM, this album is a great first introduction to them.

The is easily the best album the group has released to date. Yes, it is better than Satanic Satanist. Very dynamic and solid from start to finish. Obvious standout tracks are "All Your Light" (a great song to run to), Head is a Flame, and You Carried Us.

I've been counting down the days till this album came out. I expected it would be really good, but I didn't expect it to turn out to be arguably their best album ever. It's clear they put a lot of heart and soul into this album, there isn't a single bad song on it. If anyone was even the tiniest bit scared off by American Ghetto then rest assured that this album more than makes up for it. My friends ask me, "Why is Portugal. The Man you're favorite band?" Now I can put on this album and say, "That's why."
