Foo Fighters - Wasting Light

About Wasting Light by Foo Fighters Album

Wasting Light is the seventh studio album by American rock band Foo Fighters, released April 12, 2011, by Roswell and RCA. It's their first album to feature guitarist Pat Smear since The Colour and the Shape (1997); he appeared on their previous album, Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace (2007), as a session musician only. Wanting to capture the essence of their earlier work and avoid the artificiality of digital recording, Foo Fighters recorded in the garage of frontman Dave Grohl in Encino, California, using only analog equipment. The sessions were produced by the band alongside Butch Vig, with whom Grohl had worked on Nirvana's Nevermind (1991). Since the old equipment did not allow for many mistakes to be corrected in post-production, the band spent three weeks rehearsing the songs, and Vig had to relearn outdated editing techniques. The band sought a heavier and rawer sound in contrast to the experimentation of their previous albums. Most of the lyrics were written as Grohl reflected upon his life and possible future. Guest musicians include Bob Mould, Krist Novoselic, Jessy Greene, Rami Jaffee and Fee Waybill. Wasting Light was preceded by the successful single "Rope", which became only the second song ever to debut at number one on Billboard's Rock Songs chart. The follow-up single, "Walk", also charted highly. Wasting Light debuted at number one in eleven countries, including the United States, and received positive reviews from most music critics, who praised the production and songwriting. In 2012, Wasting Light earned four Grammy Awards, including Best Rock Album.

- Best Rock Album Of The 2000’s thus far...

Just as title says, as of right now, 2021 - There has not been a rock album as a complete album that beats this album. It is to the 2000’s as what Hysteria was to the 80’s. It’s well produced and every song could of been big on rock radio or what’s left of it. The Foo’s latest is uplifting but they need to get Butch Vig on next album and make another rock album.

- Brilliant album

This is probably the last great Foo Fighters album. Since then everything goes bad. This is a classic Foo Figters album with early Foo Fighters energy. White Limo, walk , bridge burning, miss the misery, matter of time are great songs.

- best album ever

From the very first time I heard this album my life was instantly changed. This album made the person I am today.

- Great

They did it again, they redefine themselves and their music while still hammering out solid tunes such as Rope, Arlandria, These Days, and not to mention Walk. All these songs are great! Buy now, or live to regret

- Great songs

Every song on this album is great and it’s a shame how underrated it is

- ROCK

Wasting Light is the Foo Fighters best album. It has all the best songs on it and I love how these days is like sort of very slow then goes like fast paced and that’s all see ya.

- Best album

No disrespect to the others but these songs are incredible

- Good album

Sounds even better live

- Wow

From Bridge burning to Walk all of the songs are amazing and I really don’t have the words for this album and the other albums.

- Classic Music

These songs are the best. Period. End of discussion.

- Its An Awesome Album!!!

Its 2021 and there's nothing bad to say about Foo Fighters 'Wasting Light'. Its one of the very few albums from start to finish that you can't stop listening to. Bridge Burning, Rope, Dear Rosemary, Arlandria, Back & Forth, A Matter of Time, Miss The Misery, and Walk - ALL ROCK!!!!

- Now THIS is good stuff

Foo for life. Dave grohl is a genius

- Awesome

See

- Excellence...

This is their best and most consistent album. The songs are stellar and the production is top-notch. If you don’t love the 1-2 punch at the start of the album, you should seriously have your music listening privileges revoked.

- there best

this is my favorite foo fighters album
